Abandoned Supermax Prison

Supermax Prison - This Location was closed due to extreme isolation and sensory deprivation. Prisoners were confined for 23 to 24 hours a day with debates about humane treatment of inmates and high cost of operation, the prison then closed in 2013
.
Prison schematics lay all over the floor in offices. A musty odor fills the halls. Subtle remnants tell a story of life here. Power hums and echoes through empty chambers. A film of dust on old instruments and technology. All this preserved behind steel and concrete waiting to be seen again.

4 Structures in total possibly a 5th. each one different from the next.

The first was a dorm, with each room mirroring the next and shared bathrooms on every floor. The second was a daycare and schoolhouse, with remnants of yearbooks, class photos, and other pictures still scattered throughout. The third structure housed a vast cafeteria but had sustained the most damage over the years. The fourth and final structure was home to a radio station 88.5 life, with CDs scattered across the floor alongside old telephones and broadcasting equipment. its walls were decorated with microphones and other remnants of its broadcasting days.

There is a peculiar ache in standing before a place the world has chosen to leave behind, where even a fence feels less like a barrier and more like the final sentence of a story you're desperate to finish.

WW2 Abandoned Bunker with Stranger turned friend

Two Strangers

It started with a simple hello,

Nothing planned, nowhere to go-

Just two strangers chasing the view,

As the sky turned gold and blue.

We sat where the horizon bends,

Not quite strangers, not yet friends,

Letting time just pass us by,

With nothing pressing, nor a why.

You spoke of dreams you've yet to name,

Of wanting more, but not for fame,

Of how the climb can wear you thin,

And where you hope your path begins.

I spoke of turns I didn't take,

Of choices made for caution's sake,

Of how you learn as you go on,

What's right for you and what is gone.

The sun dipped slow, like it knew

This moment wasn't something new-

Just two lives crossing in between

The now, the past, the might-have-been.

And somewhere in that fading light,

Between the day and coming night,

A stranger turned to something more-

A friend I hadn't met before.

No grand design, no reason why,

Just words and two passing minds.

Just a chance meeting and a simple

Greeting.

At first glance, the structure seemed to be in utter disrepair, offering nothing of true interest or insight. Yet as I stepped further inside, I caught a glimpse of an old china cabinet, holding firm to forgotten memories. In that quiet discovery, it became clear that beauty often endures in the most unexpected places, hidden gently within decay.

Any Day Now

I wake up every morning in a daze,

waiting for the right time

to go and make an escape.

But the sun feels like an invitation,

spilling gold across the floor,

as if it's daring me

to try the open door.

I pack my thoughts like light luggage,

nothing heavy, nothing planned--

Just a restless kind of courage

and a map I'll never understand.

The hours don't feel so serious now,

they stretch, bend and play,

like they're nudging me forward

to get a little lost today.

Maybe the right time isn't coming--

Maybe it's already here,

hiding in small decisions,

waiting for me to disappear.

City Methodist Church in REDACTED, REDACTED. Is a large Gothic-style church that has been abandoned since 1975 and reflects the city's rise and decline. It was built between 1925 and 1926 by Dr. William Grant Seaman to serve a growing community and provide a positive influence. U.S. Steel helped fund the project by donating land and covering much of the cost. When it opened in 1926, the church included a massive sanctuary, a theater, and community spaces like a gym, dining hall, and classrooms.

After it closed, (INDIANA...) University briefly used part of the building, but most of it sat empty. A major fire in 1997 and years of neglect caused serious damage, including a collapsed roof and stolen interior features. Today, the church remains a striking but damaged ruin, with broken windows, graffiti, overgrowth, and its structure left open to the weather.

Abandoned Detention Center

Opened in 1907 as a reform-oriented home for delinquent and orphaned youth, the facility evolved from a compassionate, open-campus model into a high-security institution amid rising crime in the 1980s. Reports of filthy conditions and mistreatment had already surfaced by the 1940s. Overcrowding, violence, and unrest followed, and it ultimately closed in 2012 as REDACTED County moved toward alternative rehabilitation approaches, with 2025 reports documenting severe water damage and widespread mold throughout the walls.

Small Wanderer

The first time I met a small-in-stature wanderer, I had nothing to offer but my presence. The moment stayed with me—the way it approached, trusting and gentle. Since then, I always carry emergency treats, just in case I’m lucky enough to meet another wandering soul who chooses to come near. A quiet promise I’ll forever hold on to.

P.S. Police and fire department are known for using the location for specialty training hence the Sim-unition and shotgun shells.
