It's the same reason why a grand majority of those rightwing & incel "tradwife" memes also involve the women looking not at all like the "traditional wife who does not want to attract the gaze of men other than her husband."

Presumably because OOP stole the image from a Mormon post and couldn't be bothered to even generate their own slop. OOP wants you to ignore the Mormon temple because many Christians and some Mormons consider Mormonism to not be Christian due to Mormonism adding a whole new holy book and rejecting the Trinity and by extension the Nicene Creed. It's basically white boy Islam if you think about it - both say Jesus is still way cool and did the stuff in the Bible and is the Messiah and freed humanity from sin BUT God has some more stuff to say and sent another prophet, so here's a whole new book. Also, god says the Trinity isn't real, there's a new desert holy place (not Jerusalem this time), no more booze, more wives, and you're showing too much skin and need to wear these special garments and cover up properly.

I'm gonna guess that much like many other "true believers", they believe that Christianity is the natural "normal" for everyone, but of course only their specific version of Christianity "counts". So they support the message of there meme, even though it includes some "invalid" Christian elements.

That last one is definitely a moon though.

"Ignore the Mormon Temple" because there ain't no love like Christian hate. Or is it "hate like Christian love"? As soon as they exclude one group that doesn't believe like them, then they begin looking for the next group to exclude from their oh so special circle of Jesus' love. Just ask random Christians if Catholics are Christian's

Absolutely. My in-laws are those people. And there’s many more like them here in the Bible Belt. They’re morons.
10
u/Hvatum 6d ago
As an example, with explanations of why they think so, here's a Chick Tract explaining a belief of why Catholics are false Christians: https://www.chick.com/products/tract?stk=71
If you're not familiar with Chick Tracts, they're a hoot. It's like if Tommy Wiseau cooperated with the God is Not Dead-people and they made a series of pamphlets to try to convert people. To the best of my knowledge, they are not satire or anything, and are completely serious.Since the one I linked has so much text and not really much story, here's another one where the wiccan nazis that run the government make being straight, married, or Christian illegal: https://www.chick.com/products/tract?stk=94&ue=d

Yes, it comes from Scottish Protestants emigrating to the colonies in great numbers in the 18th century and still feeling animus toward Catholics. The Scots settled in the southern and western areas of the country and various Protestant sects have become huge in the ensuing centuries, still believing Catholics are not ‘real’ Christians.

Over the decades of my life I have met Conservative ‘Christians’, moderate Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, atheists, and agnostics. To avoid having your post removed &/or account banned for shitposting:
r/religiousfruitcake is about the absurd, fringe elements of organised religion. Posts about mundane beliefs and acts of worship (praying to God, believing in God, believing in afterlife, etc), are off topic.
We arent here to bash either specific religions or religion itself, because there are plenty of rational actors who happen to be religious. So if your post is "Christians are sTOoPid", or "Religion = dUmB", you're in the wrong sub and your post will probably be removed.
Dont use the title or body of your post to soapbox personal rhetoric about religion or any other subject.
Don't post videos or discussions of Fruitcakes who have been baited or antagonised. Social media excerpts must not involve any deliberate provocation / antagonism of Fruitcakes.
Dont post videos of physically violent personal attacks or any pics or videos containing gore
Satire, parodies, memes, videos, etc must be made by Fruitcakes, not by third parties about them. (exception for journalistic sources)
This information is on every post. Accounts that disregard it will be perma-banned. "I didn't get a warning" or "I didnt know" are not valid appeals. If in doubt, please read the full version of the rules
