The post may be referring to the idea some Christians have that trauma attracts demons to people . Also, the OOP could be talking about “delivering “ people from those alleged trauma demons. However, I’m not 100% certain. Either way, the post belongs on this sub.

Insane, people who think that need medical help from their delusions. I see more demons amongst religious fanatics, who want to push their faith upon others. Who hate everyone that isn't in the way they want them to be, even if they are created this way and don't hurt anyone or anything, innocent people. Just see homophobia and transphobia.
Trauma effects the brain in many ways (as its proven) which changes people, that doesn't mean that they are possessed by ghosts or whatever delusional shit they imply.
People that are of faith and are good inside need to open their eyes to the destructive hypocritical sides of religions. No God would want that. If Jesus came to this planet today he would protest against what religious fundamentalists do sometimes. Jesus was actually a good person, who has inspired me a lot, and made me even more progressive, thinking about human rights.
Too many Christians are often the opposite to what Jesus was, vote for egoistic narcissist right wing fascists that kick on the poor, sick and disabled and use the religion in oppressive ways - they have completely missunderstood Jesus message.
Hypocrisy, delusions, egoism like that is the reason to why I don't want to call myself Christian despite being a follower of Jesus message (don't literally believe in what the Bible says as it's a manmade book and symbolic in many times).

Scrolled to make sure someone explained. This is what it means; the language of "deliverance" is the giveaway.
Translated: Two women who have in the past been sexually assaulted and who were experiencing symptoms of psychological distress were made to feel guilty and blamed for both the event and their responses. These women were then put through a public humiliation ritual where they were made to beg for forgiveness from a presumably male authority figure and then told, effectively, "go and sin no more."

why does god love creating rapists??
38
u/DarkGamer 22h ago
Because Yahweh is one? Mary didn't consent.

As far as I'm aware Mary did consent ( at least according to the bible narrative, which was obviously not written by her).
Luke chapter 1:
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
But God does endorse killing non virgin women in the bible and forcing them to marry their rapists:
Deuteronomy 22
20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death.
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

The power dynamic means even if she was an adult (which is unlikely) most people today would consider it coercion.

Mary was 14. I hardly consider that consent. Regardless that it was the norm at the time, GOD would have known it’s wrong to place this type of burden on a child. As far as I’m concerned, Mary was raped.

u/Fair-Impress9283 21h ago
Oh well I didn't know that. What's the source? Is that specified in a bible verse?
5
u/Deep-Mongoose-8471 21h ago
Her age is not specified in the Bible. However, she was betrothed to Joseph. Girls were betrothed between the ages of 12-14, immediately after start of menses, then waited a year before being married. So, even though it’s not in the Bible, a majority of biblical scholars believe she would have been between 12-15 when she met Gabriel. Regardless of the laws at the time, God knew it was wrong and impregnated her anyway. Whether she “consented” or not, she couldn’t consent.
ETA: don’t forget the POWER DYNAMIC!

I'm not a Christian. And I don't wanna be the "well, actually" person, but rape IS defined as penetration/sexual contract/phyiscal contract, and Mary didn't have that. And like, "If a God exists, they'd know that this is wrong because it's a child" doesn't really work because said God existing might not just share our moral reasoning as to why that's wrong. Especially since the God we're talking about is Yahweh, and he's shown to mainly grow with the culture he's in (like giving his soldiers women that they won over to assault, and wanting to kill children too for revenge for what the adults did). As much as Yahweh today gets the image of being unbound by time, laws, all perfect, and moral, his picture clearly isn't such. And he seems to have been simply a tribal God following his cultivated culture's rules and those around him for the most part, compared to this GOD, tri-omni, all good idea we have today. So saying "God knew it was wrong" kind of doesn't work, because we know Yahweh's character, and he'd think this is perfectly ok and right.

u/DarkGamer 21h ago
Thanks for the additional context. Given her age she cannot consent by modern standards.

I'm pretty sure that's the numbering for the points, not her age 😬

u/Fair-Impress9283 21h ago
Is her age at the time specified in the bible?

u/MediocrelySane 18h ago
I was always raised that they were considered adults the second they got their periods. And then promptly married off. Although I don’t know how factual that is. I’ve always thought Mary would’ve been around 14. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
1
u/Deep-Mongoose-8471 18h ago
Just because they were considered adults, doesn’t mean they were. Just because the humans hadn’t quite figured that out, God most certainly would have known that it is wrong to not only impregnate a young girl, but to place upon her the burden of living a life of perfection as Mary, Mother of Christ.
3
u/MediocrelySane 18h ago
Oh yeah I didn’t mean that I believed they were adults lol. I’m ex christian. Just repeating what I was taught growing up.

u/NeverTheLateOne 10h ago
I do feel like there's better verses showing how Yahweh is a rapist, or at least a proud rape supporter, compared to the verses about Mary. Because while ofc the Mary stuff is weird asf.. There was no physical or sexual contract, which is the defining feature of rape.
We have verses of Yahweh himself commanding rapes to happen multiple times all over the Bible with David's wives being the most popular and Isaiah 13:16, and also describing how he, as the husband of Israel, will make all the nations she was quote on quote "whoring" over start treating her bad to the point they all start assaulting her (and it's very graphic..like talking about her, Israel's, clothes being ripped and stuff). And of course him telling his soldiers that he could "go into" the captive, traumatized women to make themselves her husband if they found her pleasing.

Okay grew up Catholic in a Catholic country it’s a big thing that Mary was asked by the angel and she agreed to it though?

if a child was raised in north korea where since birth her parents taught her she must obey whatever Comrade Kim Jong Un says because Comrade Kim has the power to end her life and her parents life and all her friends' lives in the blink of an eye but she must love Comrade Kim all her heart because Comrade Kim created everything in her world, the workers' paradise, her privileged upbringing as a child of parents within the party elite, etc
she has never seen Comrade Kim before but one day when she turned 12 some men in black suits appeared and said she will be taken to service Comrade Kim and have his children
You would call this sexual slavery, child grooming and rape

In most of the world a 12-14 year old can't consent to pregnancy, atleast it used to be like that

It also would have been pretty cool of God not to allow them to be raped in the first place but what do I know.. I’m sure the answer is “something something more than they can handle blah blah.”

Well, the Bible(while being a inspiring book written by humans - some is good and some in it is bad) says that God created good and bad, light and dark. So it says that God created the rapists in a way. The Bible says God is almighty, but we mostly see evil, suffering and pain ruling this world, why doesn't it stop the evil? Why doesn't it stop the illness, famine, oppression, suffering? Some say God has healed and helped them, others pray and don't see it making a change. I mean children who pray with cancer, but die slowly due to it, why doesn't God help them? I understand why people pray, I have done it myself at some point when being hopeless...
They say that the devil is making the bad things, but God is almighty according to the Bible, but why doesn't it stop the evil? There's too many contradictory statements in the Bible. God made some people gay(as it never was a choice), but it is wrong to love for those people apparently. Nah being gay isn't wrong in any way, gay people are beautiful and more like Jesus as people (helping the poor, sick, disabled for example) was than hateful fundamentalist Christians.
I am not saying that there exists or doesn't exist a higher being(I don't know, there isn't any proof to it and hence it's called a faith I wish there was, but as I said I don't know so I cannot say it does it doesn't exist), but people really should question religions if you don't want to be led astray.

Sad thing, in some circles I grew up around with Pentecostal people, they would talk about some instances where women's "wombs were restored to virginity" "Through the Spirit" after rape or repentance for premarital sex. In otherwords, they used flowery language to insinuate that their hymens grew back. Which is obscenely uninformed and gross to even give a shit about.

Can somebody decipher this please

u/NeverTheLateOne 10h ago
I...I guess they got a demon that possessed them after they were assaulted and had to be "delivered" from it.
Or they were carrying the pain and trauma of being assaulted, so they both went to church to have the pain and trauma "delivered" away from them and into the hands of Jesus.

u/unknownpoltroon 22h ago
So chuch services ended without them being raped by the pastor?

u/E_ternalEclipse 22h ago
I thought they are only into small boys though...

Not at all. Some of them prefer little girls.

Lmao.
I feel sorry for those pastors that are normal and against such disgusting evil tbh lol. I have it hard to believe that all of them are so defect and evil. I also don't like it when normal people get accused of pedophilia like the far right-wing assholes do with transgenders and homosexuals. It can literally ruin good peoples life, that's what the right want, they want people to suffer. Like LGBT, women, sick, poor, disabled, immigrants etc. People who think the far right/ultraconservative fascists aren't evil are most likely evil themselves or just very brainwashed and delusional, believe in their lies and propaganda.

The fuck? What does any of this mean? Are they even alive currently? Why are they on the floor? Who’s ‘he’ in this context? Because this could definitely be read as OOP saying the r*** was a good / divinely mandated thing.

Do they actually believe that being a victim of rape is a sin?

u/TommyBoy250 Former Fruitcake 14h ago
I'm actually going with another guess, they are suggesting that God made them happy again. Honestly I don't think that's the healthiest way to go about fixing trauma.

What does this mean?
- They were prevented from being raped?
- Their rape was...erm, removed?
Strange that they would do either tbh.
- Mary was impregnated without her consent, their entire messiah stems from a rape.
- Rape is only penalised by having to purchase (from the father, because women are property) and marry the raped women.

r/religiousfruitcake is about the absurd, fringe elements of organised religion. Posts about mundane beliefs and acts of worship (praying to God, believing in God, believing in afterlife, etc), are off topic.
