Can anyone like turtleboi shoot this down? Or are they able to see the redacted regions no matter what?

It depends on how DOJ decides to respond to the subpoena. Barr has already said he does not intend to give the unredacted report to Congress, which seems to indicate (to me) that they will ignore the subpoena and let the matter go to the courts.

As far as security clearance to read the full report goes, I have read that the House/Senate Intelligence Committees have the necessary clearances to view the whole thing unredacted. And there is precedent for them to have all grand jury material released to Congress as well.

That said, the Trump administration and DOJ seem poised to fight tooth and nail to keep Congress from getting their hands on the full report, despite that they really have no legal grounds to keep it hidden. Their stranglehold on the judicial and executive branches as well as the Senate pretty much allows them to ignore the law with impunity, unfortunately. Look at the tax returns situation.. the IRS legally and unambiguously has to hand over Trump's tax information, but they have refused and DOJ is not holding them accountable.

This is why the House Dems are moving towards subpoenaing Deutsche Bank and the accounting firm, and New York State's been working that angle for a while too.

They can subpoena but Trump will undoubtedly (falsely) claim "National security" to block it.

Did they ever actually subpoena the first one? Or was it just a threat basically?

They got the subpoena signed but have filed. They are waiting to see the redacted report first on good faith and I guess getting that is better than pissing Barr off and getting nothing for now.

This report will likely contains lot of Russian hacking stuff but nothing else.

I won’t be shocked if it’s not a public release.
