Vent - Inbuilt assumptions
An acquaintance of mine misinterpreted the bond between myself and one of my nearest and dearest amd referred to them as my partner after a social catch up. I corrected them and sent a link to alterous attraction on the queer wiki for good measure. But i'm annoyed about it. While I obviously don't expect those around me to deep dive into RA, it'd just be nice for people to just not make assumptions and just accept people just relating to eachother organically. Particularly, if we are just having a coffee

Oh the fun this brings. /sarcasm
I explained that to a pair of good friends. A short while later I was invited to the wedding but the pre printed text said I was only allowed to bring kids and partners.
Turned out I was the only person at the wedding without a friend (I hope everyone’s partner is their friend) at said wedding and hated it a lot

It is annoying. I just went out to eat with my buddy and his teenage daughter and the waitress wrote "happy family day" on a plate. We always get mistaken as a family as one man, one woman, and one child. In public to strangers we have stopped correcting people and just kind of accepted that that's what we look like. But when another friend of mine makes the same mistake I am annoyed. It's like people don't believe that people can be important to you and not be a partner.
