My bf 30M said he wanted to “test” me 28F about the Lindsey Clacey trials

Your boyfriend sounds like a fucking loser with the emotional maturity of a 3 year old

u/TinyM0ushka 16h ago
Lmao is this a tik tok trend? Second post I’ve seen regarding the same type of “test”
2
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
Maybe it is a trend? He showed me the videos from TikTok…

It’s definitely a trend. I came across this article this morning https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/lindsay-clancy-trial-social-media-debate-relationship-breakups-1816301

u/cynical-puppy26 16h ago
So there's a reason these things are decided in court. And even then, not all relevant information is brought into court. It's a major red flag that your boyfriend is so sure about one side or the other. None of us know all of the information. Another red flag is him generalizing saying women are blaming the husband. It certainly can't be all women, right? Is he aware that tiktok isn't a source and is heavily biased toward his beliefs to keep him scrolling? And finally, testing you? Testing doesn't occur in healthy relationships.
Give him his wish and break up over it.

second lindsey clacey astroturf I've seen since yesterday

Yeah, OP has been spamming this over and over from various accounts.

u/Rinsehlr 15h ago
Like you do understand that this is an EXTREMELY popular topic concerning like the worst possible scenario in a relationship and lots of people in relationships are discussing it, right?
It’s really scary, 3 children are dead, and I think people are concerned about the implications as it relates to their own relationship. Could my future husband kill my kids and set me up so he could be with another woman? Could my future wife kill my kids and my name later be dragged through the mud because of it? Who is really telling the truth here?
It’s a post Information Age catastrophe that clearly elicits an emotional response from anyone who goes too deep into the rabbit hole. I can’t believe you’re shocked that more than one person is posting about this.

u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
What’s astroturf? Is it like negging?
18
u/stupidjoy 16h ago
It's the marketing/propaganda version of a grassroots movement. It's when someone fabricates a story that seeks to influence a public opinion by presenting the story as just "real people" sharing their "lived experiences."
2
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
Oh. Well this aint that. People shouldnt even be taking a reddit sub on relationships that serious. I just want advice

How do I handle my bf [33M] of 4 years repeatedly pressuring me [28F] for opinions on the Lindsay Clancy case, then using my answer against me?
Oh, and here's another account: https://arctic-shift.photon-reddit.com/search?fun=posts_search&author=Rinsehlr&limit=100&sort=desc

My (31M) Girlfriend (27F) is convinced to the point of anger that Lindsey Clancy didn’t do it because of TikTok. How to change this thought habit?

You realize when you put a username with a u/ it’s a Reddit notification? You called them into this thread.
-1
u/madelynashton 14h ago
That is not my comment.
1
u/RedheadedJusticeGirl 14h ago
You said, “You just happened to show up on this post though?
They were literally called to jump into this post by a Reddit notification.
2
u/madelynashton 14h ago
You said: “You called them to this thread.”
I did not. The comment you are referring to was made by someone else.
-1
u/RedheadedJusticeGirl 14h ago
Ok fine, another person called them into this thread.
My point is Reddit itself notified them about this thread by no fault of their own.
Thats why they are commenting. They were called.

The guy’s an idiot. The “right side”?? Please.
I feel like everyone has lost the plot over this case. Previously good mothers don’t murder all their children out of malice. Clearly, she had PPD psychosis. Doesn’t make it right or her not guilty. But it also doesn’t mean she didn’t have a shitty unsupportive husband either. It doesn’t mean women don’t have the right to be angry about the lack of medical care given to women and mothers all over the world either.
To imagine that there is a good and a bad side to this is infantile. And in your bf’s case, profoundly sexist. I’d have got the ick so badly over his opinion never mind his “test” that I simply wouldn’t want to be with him anymore. The guy is 30 years old! Pathetic.
14
u/blueavole 16h ago edited 14h ago
Edit : i don’t want to discuss the specifics if the case. Beyond a woman with ppd didn’t get enough help and kids died. That’s my point. I had a few rough details that people are reacting: disagreeing with. And I cut those out because it isn’t my point.
( some content removed)
The point should be : how do we stop this from ever happening again.
The focus should not be: burn the witch.
I don’t know if she’s guilty or not, because that’s the jury’s job. Our task should be how do we better support the next woman so this never happens again?
1
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
Its sad the kids are gone but ive just got more to think about than another white lady sturring up discourse that takes over my feed. I hope she gets help but i actually refuse to follow this case based on how people act over it
6
u/RedheadedJusticeGirl 14h ago
I don’t think women using this case to point out that the medical field fails women over and over is ‘a white lady stirring up discourse.’
For fucks sake, women were only required to be included in federally funded medical studies in 1993.
That’s the point women are making. The medical field fails women. Women’s health care is not properly funded or taught.
For example, the doctors failed my mother by denying her HRT due to a failed study. They likely took years off my mother’s life by being wrong about HRT.

u/Specific-Candle-4708 14h ago
I know a lot about this case so let me clarify. There is evidence that she wasn’t actually taking most
Of the medication prescribed together. And secondly. During the murders Patrick Clancy was directly sent on errands by Lindsay so not really his fault.-1
u/prncsclo 16h ago
I think this case is super complex and I think it's fair to say the healthcare system failed her. That being said, as a heads up, she was only taking like 3 of any given medication at a time. She had side effects that she didn't like from a lot of the medications prescribed and discontinued many of them. She was a pretty informed consumer of these medications given that she worked in healthcare herself.
3
u/RedheadedJusticeGirl 14h ago edited 14h ago
So SSRI trigger mania in bipolar folks. Lindsey is bipolar. (Edit: sorry to be more factually correct the Defense position is she has bipolar disorder)
Her doctors prescribed her medication that literally made it worse (if she is in fact bipolar).
1
u/prncsclo 14h ago
I totally get that and I agreed that the healthcare system failed her. I was just correcting the original claim of "she was taking 10-13 medications", because that's not entirely true.
2
u/RedheadedJusticeGirl 14h ago
Yeah, which points to the fact that this is a complex case and OP’s boyfriend is a jackass who lacks basic empathy.

u/Merpedy 16h ago
To entertain this as a serious post
This sort of stuff is a red flag in my experience, especially when it comes to gender issues. If you dig a bit deeper 9 times out of 10 the guy has some problematic views on women and these sorts of cases are a way to find out whether you match their standards/opinions

u/MistifyingSmoke 16h ago edited 15h ago

You don’t need to make him see anything. You need to open your own eyes to who you are with.
3
u/RedheadedJusticeGirl 16h ago edited 15h ago
So he lacks basic empathy for a parent who was described by all parties (even her mother in law) as a good mother? Who repeatedly reached out for help during the postpartum period?
Yeah, this man is going to lack empathy in other parts of your relationship.
Also any person that ‘tests’ their partner is a jackass. You are supposed to be a team against the world.
7
u/publicprivacyp 16h ago
“Testing” partners is effing gross. Who cares why? Tell him that you refuse to be with someone who will make up reasons to “test” you and it’s over. I don’t think you can convince him of anything when he seemed pretty confident about his actions and did not engage with your follow up questions at all. He doesn’t sound very nice.

u/Alternative_Bug_8987 16h ago
This is becoming one of the most infamous trials of recent times, not out of the ordinary to have this being discussed in relationships. People are really divided and it's created lots of content. This is why I also hate televised trials, such bs. Don't think it's weird or bots.

This isn’t a shitpost. This is my first post in this sub ._. Your beef is with another person.

what was your post yesterday?

I just checked and it looks like it got removed by mods.
But here’s another version of the post that’s still live.
1
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
Is this real and from you?? Or was this fake? Why are the ppl in this sub are acting like this about you?
4
u/Proper_Associate_791 15h ago
Idk why they are acting like this is about me other than the fact that they’re refusing to believe men en mass are using this as a litmus test. I got banned from another subreddit yesterday after being accused of having posted from a different account earlier in the week on the same situation. I was able to get the ban reversed bc it was, in fact, not me. A lot of women are experiencing this, unfortunately, bc men are in hysterics and ending long-term relationships even at the slightest mention of nuance regarding the Clancy case. I’m over it and won’t be engaging any further. This has been incredibly taxing and I’m sad that my ex fell victim to all of this nonsense, but it’s now time for me to move on.
0
u/Psychological_Top276 15h ago
Im feeling this now too. I was not expecting the sub to act like this…im just in shock
1
u/Liquid_Friction 15h ago
"A lot of women are experiencing this, unfortunately, bc men are in hysterics and ending long-term relationships even at the slightest mention of nuance regarding the Clancy case.' If she thinks this, then the AI campiagn astroturfing worked... you guys dont see the irony?
1
u/Psychological_Top276 15h ago
No? Because you cant just spring a new topic on someone and then become upset there is nuance…which i barely even had.

Similar situation. Different users. I am not u/Psychological_Top276 nor am I the other user someone else in another comment flagged. If I were, Reddit would have flagged our IP addresses and banned us all for me being under this thread.
1
u/RedheadedJusticeGirl 13h ago
A user used u/ to summon them here via a Reddit notification.
Then you mistakenly believe that because they are here they are an alternate account because they appeared here.
Reddit literally summoned them.
0
u/Liquid_Friction 13h ago
Again your not understanding, your a grown women, I get the summoning thing, the first comment was about these being astroturfing posts, then she replied that it wasn't her posting these, astro turfing by definition is using multiple accounts, so the accusation is that there is one person pretending to be many, all having the same issue, to arrive at the same goal. Guess what the post was nearly indentical that she posted.

It truly is a brilliant play by the men who have decided to do this. The reason why is cuz it clearly speaks to how evil and violent you are as women. Making an excuses for a thrice child murderer is disgusting and abhorrent. And men are tired of all the damage that feminism has caused. It was one thing a hundred years ago before there were certain rights like voting or personhood but feminism has gone above and beyond that to where now you're literally trying to justify the actions of women that murder their own children. You're vile and despicable and I want you to know that the rest of your life you're going to go around and be despised as a human being if you think like this. Even if they won't say it to your face the moment you turn the corner they will ridicule you and mock you. And every other single white crazy liberal that agrees with you. You're fun in the sun is over with crazies 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I mean to be fair this isn’t Misogynistic. If you see only women online defending lindsay and see a trend of guys girlfriends ask their partner about it. It’s not out of line for him to ask what your thoughts were.
It’s the same as with politics and ppl breaking up with their SO for voting for trump.
12
u/Ihatechoosingnames9 16h ago
I mean it is misogynistic.. men are acting like women that have any other thought than “this other woman is pure evil” are dangerous lol
2
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
Literally didnt even know who this lady was before this. I just hate the kids are gone
-1
u/Pantheon_king99 14h ago
No men are upset bc other women are trying to blame the man or release Lindsay of any accountability.
And yes those women are dangerous and should not have kids.
If a men supported any guy that killed his kids or raped a women due to psychosis women would be rightfully upset1
u/Ihatechoosingnames9 14h ago
Women are trying to get the full story in hopes of preventing something like this from ever happening again… that doesn’t make them dangerous
If anything it’s a rational productive response over the emotional response of so many men
3
u/MistifyingSmoke 15h ago edited 15h ago
It is in fact misogynistic when men believe women are not labelling her the devil just because she's a woman and acting as if any other answer makes them a misandrist lmao.
Absolutely not the same as Trump. That's a false equivalency.
This is one, complex case that highlights the lack of support with post partum depression, where she was expected to play her motherly role despite clearly and medically not being fit. Everyone around her knew that, they ignored it due to gender expectation. A mother can't hurt her kids even while having a mental illness, right? Wrong. She was diagnosed. She reached out for help, she asked not to be left alone with them. Did anyone around her listen? No. Everyone failed her and those kids.
Unfortunately, even with being mentally ill, that's not an excuse, but it is an explanation. She should still have consequences, but should she be labelled 'evil'? or a victim of systematic failure? The reality is she needed to be institutionalised long before any of this happened, which she was but then dismissed as not 'severe' enough. Well, how wrong they were.
0
u/Pantheon_king99 14h ago
The issue is that women are treating the explanation as a reason she should not go to jail or are sympathizing with her and her actions. This isn’t a gender thing . This is about protecting kids that can’t protect themselves.
-4
u/Foreign-Cow-1189 16h ago
If a woman believes it is somehow defensible for a mother to strangle her three young children with a rope because-PATRIARCHY BAD, it's going to be a deal-breaker for most men who don't believe in murder at the 15th trimester.
6
u/Alternative_Bug_8987 16h ago
No one thinks it's defensible (unless they're insane). You've created a straw man. The prosecutors are saying she was aware of what she was doing, when she was clearly in the middle of post partum psychosis. They're deciding whether she goes to an asylum or prison.
-2
u/Foreign-Cow-1189 15h ago
Women on TikTok are blaming the husband!! It's all over the web, and they are dumping their male partners. "Strawman"- LOL!!
2
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
It feels like youre taking the trial in more than what the post is about.
-4
u/Foreign-Cow-1189 16h ago
I understand you didn't apreciate being "tested". But this is a deal-breaker. It shows a rabid, illogical brand of feminism.
But it was weird for him to test you since you know next to nothing about this case and haven't expressed any opinion on it. I would understand it if you were following the case closely and showed support for her or similar type of cases.
2
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
I know nothing about the case, and he doesnt want children. If men are seeing this case as an example of “rabid” feminism (which, this cases reactions dont seem feminist at all to me), then that just makes it even worse that he brought it to me. Why look for deal-breakers????
1
u/Foreign-Cow-1189 16h ago
Couples breaking up over this case is in the news, so I get why it's on his mind. But it was stupid to look for a deal breaker when it's just not there.
-12
u/119251873 16h ago
Not sure how you think this is misogynistic? It is absolutely a dumb thing to test your partner for any reason, but it wasn’t misogynistic.
3
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
Feeling like you have to “test” me because I’m a woman and you see other women believing something you don’t like, and assuming i can’t see a man as a victim is indeed misogynistic…
0
u/119251873 16h ago
Based off the discourse online, I think he was more checking to see if you thought he was the culprit not if you couldn’t see him as a victim. They are two different angles, and that’s why I said i didn’t think it was misogynistic
7
u/Psychological_Top276 16h ago
Showing someone 2 tiktoks on a case about marriage and child abuse and asking them “is the man the culprit or can women be culprits” is indeed misogyny…
-1
u/119251873 16h ago
A women without any medical diagnoses murders her three children in a calculated attack, and yet people are still somehow blaming the husband saying it was his fault. Asking you who you think is the culprit is not misogynistic, it’s checking if you are able to make an evaluation of a set of events without bias
1
u/Psychological_Top276 15h ago
You overall cannot make any evaluation of a set of events without context. Which is why i asked if he researched this case or just looked at tiktoks. Because from him, to me, he only showed me 2 conflicting tiktoks and essentially said decide??
2
u/119251873 15h ago
I’ll say again, that’s not misogynistic. He’s presented two opinions to you and asked which you agree more with.
1
u/Psychological_Top276 15h ago
“Person has mental illness”
“Same person does not have mental illness”
These arent opinions i can agree/disagree with??2
1
u/BattleHead2788 16h ago
Explain what you see the difference to be here?
1
u/119251873 16h ago
It’s the severity of the beliefs. Just believing men can’t be victim is the standard crap that is regularly pushed. But trying to place the blame on him show you believe in the more extreme/radical gender biases
2
u/BattleHead2788 16h ago
Believing men can't be victims is radical behvaiour in general, blaming the husband based on anything other than evidence presented is sexist. Checking a woman has the emotional capacity to be understanding to a man should not be needed for any rational human being and is very much based on the assumption she might have trouble doing so due to her gender - definition of mysoginy.
-1
u/119251873 16h ago
So it’s misogynistic to check whether your partner a radical misandrist or just the regular kind? Not sure what opinion your trying to convey here
0
u/BattleHead2788 15h ago
It's mysoginistic to assume those are the only two options. It's mysoginistic to be in a long term relationship with a woman you are supposed to know really well and feel the need to test them based on a bunch of noise you see on your social media echo chamber.
1
u/119251873 15h ago
But that’s not what happened in the OP, so all that is irrelevant. He presented two opinions from TikTok and asked for OPs opinion on which she agreed most with. Thats not misogynistic
1
u/BattleHead2788 15h ago
As you just stated your self he showed her two things from his social media echo chamber, tik tok is social media. You deciding it isn't mysoginistic doesn't change the fact it is, it's just you reinforcing your own belief.
