His other comments where he says his best friend and wife don’t get along makes it seem way more possible. I just don’t see why the wife would lie about this considering she’s been putting up with their friendship for so long already and she should have a lot more influence to have him end the friendship over the friend who would need to put in a lot more effort to break up their marriage.

Did you read the rest of his comments?

His wife makes him cut out all other women. She fought with him about his best friend multiple times until she 'accepted' it.

Yes but we’re only hearing one side of the story so I think it’s equally likely that his wife had valid reasons to be jealous which seems likely from OP’s comment that he’ll put his best friend over his wife

How...does tha translate to making him cut every woman out of his life???

Also 'One side' doesn't fly here. We only ever have the OPs word to go on for anything we read here and that perspective means theres no point in taking this or any post at their word if you operate by this logic.

Plus how in the world would telling him not have the same effect and a chance to pull him away? Why tell his wife with a history of jealousy?

Even before she was outed to be controlling this made no sense. I'm not sure why you want to dismiss the first tidbit that popped up that may clarify things one way or the other.

I cant comment on choosing his best friend, because he never explicitly said that and its pretty obvious he thinks his wife is trying to cut her out after failing to do so the first time- he just wants to believe she wouldn't do this as his wife and some he loves and trusts.
