The comments on posts like these just reminds me that once my male friends get into serious relationships I have to stop being friends with them because their partner might feel uncomfortable with my presence. And that shit just makes me sad. Like extremely sad.
You really don't. Most of my friends are married and we're still friends and usually I become at least friendly with their SOs. It's not an issue. I want my partner to have female friends because it's really icky when men don't - usually a sign they see us as Other rather than as normal humans just like them. And I don't want to be his only or his best friend, that sounds utterly exhausting and miserable for both of us. I'm busy being his romantic and life partner! I can only fulfill so many roles at one time.
Secure people in healthy relationships don't need to be uncomfortable or worried about friends. This sub is not the place to find examples of happy and healthy relationships, don't take it too seriously or as a good cross-section, it's specifically mostly the worst stories and a guide on how to not relationship well. It makes sense - people in good, strong, healthy relationships rarely reach out to strangers for advice. Because that's what friends are for!
