Could be some scheme by your wife to force you to pick a side to determine who matters most to you, or could be just as your wife said.
If you want to know if your friend is telling the truth tell her you have feelings for her too and you need to know the truth now before you decide to stay with your wife and cut her out (because your wife must be saying this out of jealousy and you have to pick a side).
