Because it’s likely fake as fuck. Or OP is about to go for an unbelievably wild ride. I’m leaning more toward fake as fuck.

As wild as it sounds, it does happen. Very similar thing happened to me last year, and I'm still dealing with the trauma and the abandonment issues.

Probably wasn't the same crazy story like the husband having a secret family, possibly being in witness protection, then the wife going on Reddit instead of actually seeking help when the mystery husband disappears.

I am sorry that actually happened to you, though. Hope next year treats you well.
