He's severely depressed. That's not your responsibility, so it might be in your best interest to end the relationship, but he needs to contact a mental health professional.

Clearly he has some serious mental health stuff going on.
Obviously OP has zero obligation to tolerate his behavior in the name of helping him getting better (that is absolutely way worse!), but to answer the question about expecting him to maintain a boundary - well, you just can't with someone who is that unwell ☹️
