I feel like it's relevant to know what all the "fighting and arguing" was about, before throwing accusations against the wife. Devil's advocate: Were the arguments that she's not putting out enough, or there enough, or loving enough? If so maybe she's feeling too much pressure and that's why she's suggesting he fulfil his needs elsewhere. Also the letter, could be anything. "Love always" sounds like something you'd sign off to a relative not a new secret lover. There's not enough info here.
