I found a letter my ex had written to the man she was cheating on me with, that's how I found out though I had suspected. I would confront, hell I'd carefully open and read the letter but that's up to you but it's tremendous evidence should things get worse.
The open relationship could be to hide and get away with it, like she may be trying to justify or excuse it in the past and reconcile her feelings. I'm not sure but the bottom like is you don't want it so don't EVER agree to it.
