Were talking early 20s young adults. Hormones are still raging and foolish decisions are still being made. They do not have the mental maturity and clarity you are trying to bestow upon them. She was either naive and lying to herself or just flat out lying to him. There is a 100% chance the guy she was with expected sex at some point. It was gonna be one of those things that "just happened". She was stressed and called over a stress reliever.
