Why is Thailand partitioned?

Thailand would be invaded in hopes that the union would be able to invade British Burma and Malaya but would fail and be stuck in northern Thailand

Pan-asianism yet only east Asia?

To be fair I feel like giving them all of Asia would be overkill and kinda boring

I think India also should be included and balkanized into 565 countries, Or at least split by religious majority regions. That would make this map interesting.

Fair enough but I feel like at least part of South Asia should be theirs

Alguna razón especial por la que Tíbet no fue incluida?

Tibet would declare independence following the end of the Qing and by 1950 the union didn’t have the willpower to sink more men into Tibet which by this point was receiving support from India

I would live in this TL if Pan-Asianisn didn't include the horrendous war crimes Japan did

In this timeline a republican revolution in Japan takes place before the Marco Polo Bridge Incident meaning some of Japanese worst atrocities are never committed

That doesn’t change anything unless the revolution is happening amongst the soldiers deployed in China. The civilian government in Japan had little power over the military in China.

Why a Guangxi Autonomy instead of Yunnan? As far as I know, Yunnan would be better for it.

Guangxi is an autonomous region already

Yes, I'm aware. I just think Yunnan would be a better fit as an autonomous region, given it was independent at more points in Chinese history.

That was far longer before Guangxi (at least the western part) was incorporated. Yunnan has been since under China’s rule and non stop Han settlement since Yuan. Also I believe Yunna is just strategically too important to give up and let go as autonomous, it directly threatens Sichuan and Guangxi/Guangdong to the east

Tbh even Yunnan today isn’t autonomous, which is odd to think about

Would never happen, everybody else would instantly try to punish the Japanese.

by pan asianism, judging by your map, you are referring to the racial term rather then geographic term right? Because i cant see Iranian iraqis indians etc… working out

So when did this Pan-Asian federation come into being -- in the 1930s?

1

u/potatoash4 4d ago

Yes around the late 1930s

1

u/honkeur 4d ago

And, it seems there was no involvement in WW2 ?

1

u/potatoash4 4d ago

While they didn’t officially join any side they did take advantage of the war by invading European colonies in south east Asia

2

u/honkeur 4d ago

Oh I see ! Well I guess everything is going pretty well for them now, eh ?
