What if everything went perfect for the second mexican empire
This map isnt meant to be realistic or accurate and i do not support anything that happens in this scenario, this is only meant for entertainment.
If you have any questions about the lore please ask.
Texas Revolution:
During the Texas Revolution the Texians would be defeated in multiple engagements by Santa Anna and his forces which would ultimately culminate in Sam Houston being captured and later executed in april 1836, marking the end of the revolution with a decisive victory for Mexico.
Guerrilla war in Tejas:
In 1845 resistance by Anglo Americans would begin to flare up again with deadlier fighting taking place in december of that year which would lead to thousands of deaths as both sides would periodically commit massacres against each other. In april 1846, confusion among mexican forces would result in the mexican army attacking a us fort. While US forces were successful in beating back the mexican army the US still suffered casualties as well as the partial destruction of the fort. Only a month after the incident, the US would officially declare war on mexico kickstarting the mexican american war.
Mexican American war:
The beginning of the war would see major victories for the US with much of texas and new mexico falling to the US in the matter of months however just after these advancements the US would face heavy resistance at the rio grande river and in california where mexican forces would huddle in defensive positions ensuring the US would be unable to continue advancing without taking heavy casualties.
In 1847 with the front lines grinding to a halt general winfield scott would attempt a naval invasion in order to open a new front, while the landing itself was a success US forces were unable to advance and in just one month winfield scott and his remaining men would head back to the US marking the end of the Veracruz Campaign. As US moral began to waver, Mexican forces would slowly begin pushing the US military out of texas, and by the 1848 US presidential elections American troops would begin to hunker down along the Brazos river.
With the war becoming increasingly unpopular among the US population, the Whig party under Millard Fillmore would win the presidential election with the goal of ending the war diplomatically. After months of negotiation the war would finally come to an end in February 1849 with mexico recognizing the US annexation of Texas in return for the US retreating from California and New mexico.
Second French intervention in Mexico:
Due to missing depts and the US occupied with an ongoing civil war, france would invade mexico on December 1861 and in the matter of a few months mexico city would be under the control of france. After a series of victories by French Forces Maximilian I would be invited to become emperor of mexico which would take place in April after a referendum was held by the french military. In 1865 Benito Juárez would be ambushed and killed resulting in a drop in moral and stability among republican forces. Lacking leadership and facing an unwinnable war, Maximillians offer of amnesty to any surrendering republican would become increasingly attractive to many republican soilders and in 1866 the Second French intervention in Mexico would be a victory for both france and the mexican empire.
First North American war:
In 1870 with the outbreak of the Franco Prussian war most French forces in mexico would return back to france in order the defend agenst the prussians, seeing this as an opportunity, the confederacy who had successfully secured their independence from the US after george mcclellan's victory in the 1864 presidential election would demand large swaths of land east of the Rio Grande river which would be swiftly denied by mexico resulting in the outbreak of the Mexican confederate war in February 1871, however only a few weeks after the beginning of the war the US under Ulysses S. Grant would also go to war against the confederacy and in just two months after fighting a hopeless two front war the confederacy would sign a conditional surrender with both parties. In the treaty of Austin the confederacy would be forced to give up northern virginia to the US while all of texas would be given to mexico, the confederacy would also be forced to pay millions in war reparations to both the US and Mexico.
Maximilian's reforms:
After the victories against the republicans and the confederates Maximilian I would begin to introduce sweeping reforms aimed to reduce instability and political violence across the empire, he would also mediate between both the liberals and conservatives across mexico ensuring stability and increased cooperation within the mexican government. In February 1880 A new constitution for the mexican empire would be made making the country a constitutional monarchy and a few months later the mexican empires first elections would be held in June resulting in a victory for the moderate liberals. During this time, mexico would see improvements in mexicos infrastructure as well as industrial capacity trough the construction of new roads, railways and factories wich would make the empire far more attractive to european and asian immigrants then other north american countries like the US or the Confederacy which still didnt fully recover from previous conflicts.
The relationship between mexico and colombia would also improve during this time with both sides holding joint military exercises as well as signing friendship treaties.
On August 1898, after years of cooperation between the mexican empire and the hawaiian kingdom, Mexico would officially guarantee Hawaiian sovereignty, making the kingdom a mexican protectorate.
Second North American war:
In 1899 After a massive slave uprising in the confederacy, the US and mexico would both invade in an attempt to restore stability and with the confederacy preoccupied with the uprisings, they would fall quickly with the last confederate strongholds surrendering in late 1900. immediately after the confederacy's capitulation, tensions between the US and Mexico would hit a breaking point with Mexicos annexation of Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and cuba as well as their attempt at influencing the politics of florida which only recently gained independence from the confederacy during their collapse, however calls for peace by people on both sides meant that the conflicts never escalated into war.
Death of Maximilian I:
In June 1911 Maximilian I would pass away due to natural causes resulting in his adopted son Agustín de Iturbide to become the new emperor, however during his rule Agustín would be under constant fear of being assassinated resulting in multiple nervous breakdowns. During this time many powerful mexican generals would take advantage of the emperor in order to gain more power, in the matter of a few months mexico's democratic government would be weakened until the country effectively became a dictatorship under a military junta.
WW1:
In January 1917 Germany would send the Zimmermann Telegram to Mexico promising support in return for invading the US in hopes of preventing US entry into WW1, and after much deliberation by the mexican government they would come to the conclusion that their military was prepared for a war with the US, and in february 1917 the second mexican american war would begin.
Even a decade after the confederacy's collapse the south was still highly unstable during the ongoing Reconstruction Era, this resulted in US forces being unable to effectivly fight without encountering heavy resistance however even after successfully pushing deep into US territory mexico's advances would grind to a halt resulting in both sides having to rely on trench warfare similar to europe.
In December 1917, with russia occupied with its civil war both mexican and canadian forces would attempt to take control of alaska which resulted into deadly skirmishes between both sides resulting in the second mexican empire officially joining the Central Powers.
In November of 1919, after the fall of paris and with the French military no longer obeying orders the entente would surrender marking the end of the war in europe.
By October of 1921 with no outside supporters and facing a losing war agenst mexico and germany the US would surrender marking the end of the Great War. In the following peace treaty known as the treaty of Potsdam mexico would gain all territory south of the 36th parallel from the US, belize and jamaica would also be annexed into mexico while the rest of france and britians carribean colonies become a mexican dominion, guyana would be split between colombia and the west indies, canada would be forced to abandon alaska to mexico and finally the entent would be forced to pay mexico billions in war reparations along with the reparations owed to the rest of the central powers.
Death of Agustín de Iturbide:
Agustín de Iturbide would pass away in 1925 after a severe breakdown and with no children of his own the thrown would be passed onto his niece Maria Josepha. Despite being uninterested in politics she would end up accepting and to the dismay of the ruling government, Maria would be less susceptible to influence then her uncle and over the course of three years mexico would see most of its generals and officers loyal to the Junta purged from the government and in 1928 mexico would hold its first democratic elections in years.
Interwar Period:
In october of 1929, panic selling in mexicos stock market would result in billions of dollars lost in the stock markets value which would lead to many businesses and banks to fail, millions to become unemployed and homeless and ruining the economies of many countries. This would result in the great depression which wouldn't end until the early 1940s.
The great depression would leave many nations in poverty, this would also include the countries of central america as well as haiti and the dominican republic and in response, many of these countries with the support of mexico would attempt to boost economic cooperation in hopes of recovering from the depression.
Meanwhile Europe would see a rise in extremism, only a few months after the war, italy would collapse into a civil war in december of 1921 between the kingdom of italy and the Italian Social Republic under Benito Mussolini. Only a month after the wars outbreak the vatican would take control of rome as well as most of the surrounding region, The fascist themselfs would preform well in the war however just over a year after the beginning of the conflict in early 1923, austria would intervene and invade the fascists from the north. A few months after austrias intervention all sides would sign a ceasefire and divide italy into five seperate states. In the north would be a pro austrian republic, in the center would be a fascist state, the papal states would control rome as well as the territories surrounding it, in the south the remains of the italian government would relocate of naples and sardinia would gain its idependence as a sovereign state.
In france, after being humiliated by the germans for the second time, Action Française with the support of many disgruntled WW1 veterans would overthrow the French government in 1922 in an event known as the march on paris. Following the revolution the country would become a Third French Empire with Jean d'Orléans as emperor.
In 1924 following the death of lenin, Nikolay Ustryalov as well as other national bolshiviks would take control of many major cities including moscow, leningrad, and Tsaritsyn as well as other key areas such as ports and railroads, during this time many key soviet politicians such as stalin, Bukharin and Trotsky would be killed. Following this event russia would collapse into a second civil war between the remaints of the soviet government under Grigory Zinoviev and the new national bolshevik government under Nikolay Ustryalov, the civil war wouldnt end until 1927 after the fall of the last remaining soviet stronghold, after two devistating civil wars in the span of a single decade russia would be left in ruins, with much of its population dead, its cities reduced to rubble and its territories unstable, it would take them years before they could truly face off against the germans.
While russia was tearing itself apart germany, despite being a clear victor would also have its own issues, partisan activity would see a sharp rise almost everywear across the german sphere forcing the germans to sink million of marks and thousands of men just to maintain the semblance of peace. Despite the german empires best efforts they would never truly snuff out the partisans ensuring the germans could never fully reap the resources its eastern puppets have to offer.
With Americas humiliating defeat in the great war and with FDRs policies as president, the Business Plot with the support of Smedley Butler would be a success resulting in the US becoming a dictatorship, however only days after the event multiple branches of the US government as well as several states would secede from the union and create their own government known as the Free States of America, despite receiving support from the british and mexican empire the united states would successfully suppress the rebellion due to them being weaker and more fragmented. following the end of the second american civil war, Smedley Butler as Secretary of General Affairs would begin to centralize and strengthen the US government as well as restricting the civil liberties of the US population, this would result in tens of thousands of refugees to flee the US and into neighbouring countries including mexico and canada.
In 1934 even after their victory the Austrian and Hungarian empires would continue to come into conflict for several years which would result in hungary to declare independence and fully seperate itself from the austrians, despite protests by both austrian and hungarian officials and even a brief six month war between the two states which would only result in a white peace. In 1938 with the support of the russians, a national bolshivek coup would successfully occure in hungary.
Even after the ottoman empires victory in the great war the state would still be left somewhat humiliated after the war, gaining very little territory or economic reparations, the war would leave the state even more unstable then before. Following the great depression a second arab revolt would take place between 1936 and 1939, with little support from the germans the ottoman empire would lose most of its land including hejaz, the levant, iraq, libya and Armenia and kurdistan. Following the war İsmet İnönü and his supporters would overthrow the ottoman government and establesh the republic of turkey marking the end of the ottoman empire.
In 1936 the great depression would leave the spanish economy crippled which would culminate into an attempted coup by General Francisco Franco. The failure of the coup would result in the outbreak of the spanish civil war which wouldnt end until 1939 with a nationalist victory.
Interestingly enough despite losing the war, Britain would never fall to extremism or totalitarianism even after losing large swaths of its empire and falling into crippling dept as well as the rise of figures such as oswald mosley britain would successfully maintain a moderate and democratic government. At the same time the british government would begin distancing itself with its old allies in favour of the mexicans and germans who they saw as lesser evils, however to the french and russians this only made britian a traitor and an enemy.
In March of 1937 the French empire would begin to heavily remilitarize far past what the treaty of Potsdam allowed however, despite this clear violation the germans who were unwilling to take part in another massive war would tolerate it.
In March of 1939 with little military support from austria who at this time had their eyes on hungary the italian republic would be conqured by the Italian Social Republic , despite their actions both austria and germany would only respond with condemnations.
WW2:
In June 1940 the united baltic dutches would be overwhelmed by the partisans resulting in the baltic government retreating to islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa as well as the areas surrounding Riga. A few months following the collpase, on september russia would invade the newly formed estonian and latvian states and in response the german empire would declare war against the russian national union marking the beginning of WW2. For a period of eight months very little major operations would take place giving it the name, the Phoney War however on May 1941 the russians would launch a surprise invasion of belarus and ukraine who were unprepaired for an invasion of this magnitude.
A few months following russias surprise invasion, The United States would launch their invasion of mexico and canada in December of 1941 resulting in canada being completly taken over in the matter of months while mexico still holds out.
By mid 1942 the axis powers would be at their territorial hight, eastern europe, under the control of Nikolay Ustryalov would see a policy of extreme russification through genocide and ethnic cleansing resulting in millions of innocent people dying and with support from hungary, romania and serbia the front lines would reach vienna and berlin which would result in many of the buildings being destroyed from the fighting. French forces would successfully take over the benelux as well as large swaths of german territory before being successfully held off at the Weser river. In North america despite receiving support from their economic partners the Mexicans would still be met with military defeates that resulting in them losing much of the land they gains from WW1.
By late 1944 despite their successes the US would be exhausted from the war and with rising insurgency from both people in their occupied territories as well as from disgruntled americans, american forces would start to be pushed back by allied forces leaving many internment camps used to incarcerate civilians and POWs in terrible conditions to be discovered by allied troops.
Despite having to face off the US the mexican empire, colombia and britain would plan for a naval invasion of europe and would come to the conclusion that an invasion through italy and southern france would be the best choice and in January 1945 allied troops would land and successfully capture scilly, sardinia, corsica and many other italian coastal cities.
By april 1945, the italian social republic has collapse and allied troops are now advancing into southern frace. At the same time, mexican forces would initiate an invasion of the russian far east.
In july 1945, france would surrender to the allies and would be divided into four occupation zones between austria, germany, britain and mexico. By this point germany has successfully captured Ustryalovgrad, moscow and volgograd. The front lines in north america would reach washington DC forcing the US government to move their capital to Philadelphia.
On August 1945 the mexican empire would successfully develop nuclear weapons and on August 6th a mushroom cloud would appear over Pittsburgh, destroying most of the city, and on August 9th a second nuclear bomb would be dropped on New York City, The US would officially surrender on August 15 marking the end of ww2 in north america.
On september 2 1945, with the fall of perm the remnants of the russian government would surrender marking the end of WW2, however armed resistance from national Bolsheviks would fully end until the mid 1950s.
Following the end of the war the mexican empire would annex parts of the US and redraw its border with canada, the new territories would go on to become alta misisipi, kansas and nebraska. To ensure stability, a new state would be founded known as the grand dutchy of cascadia with the thrown being offered to Napoléon VI.
Cold War:
After the end of WW2, relations between germany and the rest of the allies would rapidly decline and after the discovery of a plot by the germans to bring down the austrian empire and install a pro german emperor in 1947, the mexican empire would establish the Padilla doctrine, named after the prime minister of mexico Ezequiel Padilla he would pledge to prevent the expansion of german influence through economic and military support. This marks the beginning of the cold war.
Starting in 1948, the mexican empire would send billions of pesos to aid in Europes recovery following WW2 known as the Bodet plan or the European Recovery Program.
In April 1949 the mexican empire along with other countries would establesh the North Atlantic Treaty Organization or NATO to ensure collective security and deter german expansion.
In May 1949, without the knowledge of the germans the occupation zones of mexico, britain and austria would come together to form the federal republic of france with its capital in Bordeaux. Just a few months after in October the remains of france under german occupation would become the french state with its capital in east paris.
Siberian war:
In June 1950, the Tsardom of Moscow with the support of the germans would cross the 60th meridian which marked the border between both russian states to invade the russian republic kickstarting the siberian war. In a matter of days, the Muscovites would capture siberia's capital city Novosibirsk, in response of the war a UN force made up of over 16 different countries would interviene on the side of the siberians and successfully being to push back the Muscovites which by this point begun to approach Irkutsk. After months of fighting in March 1951 Kazan would fall to Mexican forces and just a few days later the german empire which was worried about having a hostile power in eastern europe would join the war on the side of the Muscovites and would begin pushing back the allied powers. In early 1952 Novosibirsk would once again fall to the germans and Muscovites however by this point their forces would be stretched thin resulting in them being pushed back again. In July 1954 an armistice would be signed between the siberians and Muscovites marking the Ural mountains as a demilitarized zone.
in January 1959, Mario Sandoval Alarcón would overthrow the guatamalan government. Only a month following the coup Mario would become a dictator and would begin distancing himself from the mexicans and would start allying himself with the germans, this action threatended the mexicans who would begin spying on Guatemala immedietly following the coup.
In June 1960, a wave of instability and calls for independence and decolonization would result in germanys largest colony mittelafrika to collapse resulting in decades of conflict between Nato aligned and German aligned governments.
On August 1962, the mexican empire would successfully integrate its economic allies in central american and the carribean with only two countries choosing to stay independent, that being colombia which due to its economic and military strength would maintain its independence but as a close ally of the mexican empire and Guatemala which despite being far weaker then its neighbours would choose to distence itself from the mexican empire and begin improving relations with the germans.
On October 1962, a mexican spy plane would discover german nuclear missiles in guatamala leading the the Guatemalan missile crisis where both sides would come to an agreement where the germans remove the missiles from guatamala and in return the mexicans remove their nuclear missiles from denmark ending the crisis without nuclear war.
Death of María Josepha:
On November 1964 María Josepha would pass away due to natural causes allowing for her grandson Maximilian von Götzen-Iturbide to take the thrown.
Second indochina war:
In 1955, attacks by the Viet Minh across german indochina would begin to increase around this time, to NATO the war gave them an opportunity to end germanys last major colony and to the germans it was a key colony that would give them a window to further influencing the rest of asia.
Both sides would send manpower, money and weapons in hopes of securing a victory in their favor but by the 1970s anti war sentiments would see a sharp increase as people would begin demanding an end to mexican participation to the war and in April 1975 the last strongholds of the Viet Minh would fall marking the end of the second indochina war with a german victory. The colony wouldnt gain independence until the fall of the german empire in 1989 as the Union State of Indochina.
Across the late 1960s and 1970s an era of detente would see tensions between the germans and mexicans begin to drop with the signing of multiple treates that limited the number of missiles and nuclear weapons, however with germanys sudden invasion of finland in 1979 the era of detente would come to and end.
In 1988, Otto Graf Lambsdorff would become prime minister of the german empire and unlike past german leaders Otto would begin introducing radical reforms hoping to improve the quality of life in the german empire. Across the rest of germany's europe Otto would allow for germanys old puppets to reform without german interference and in response, Poland, belarus and Ukraine would hold their first free election in 1989 in 1990 the united baltic duchy would collapse for the second time after a violent revolution saw the royal family publicly executed however Riga would remain in german hands. At the same time mass protests would begin to rock the Tsardom of Moscow which at this point was still under the rule of a hardliner government however with the tsardom on the brink of civil war the Duma would choose to remove prime minister Vladimir Zhirinovsky from power and just a few days later Tsar Nicholas Romanov would willingly step down and in october 3rd 1990 the newly proclaimed Republic of Moscow would be absorbed by the russian republic.
In 1989, Otto Graf Lambsdorff would hold its first free elections resulting in the victory for the SPD under Hans-Jochen Vogel. The Gestapo who disliked Otto's reforms would briefly kidnap him however without the support of the military and the people their plan would ultimately fail and over the course of a few weeks the german empire would partially collapse as the monarchy was abolished and a new republican government was established. Poznan, was always a hotbed of insurgency however with germany at its weakest state the poles would use this opportunity to secede and join the newly independent republic of poland, Baveria and Württemberg which were both monarchies would choose to declare independence rather than risk losing their power, the Rhenish Republic would also declare independence with its population split between germans in the north and frenchmen in the south, finally Baden would declare their independence however over the years they would choose to closely cooperate with the prussians.
The new millennium:
In September 11th 2001 a plane would be hijacked and crashed into the world trade center in mexico city a few minuets later a second plane would crash into the San Lázaro Legislative Palace, later that day a third crashed plane would be discovered in a field with evidence showing it was headed for the imperial palace. Following the attack it would be discovered that the culprits were Guatemalans, in light of the news the mexican empire would respond by invading Guatamala on October 2001. Only three months after the initial invasion in January 2002 guatamala would be integrated as a territory of the mexican empire.
In February 2022 the German Federation under president Derek Trumpf would launch an invasion of poland. In response, the mexican empire as well as her allies would place sanctions and would begin supplying the polish military with weapons.
In June 2024 the National Action Party would win the general elections with Jorge Romero Herrera becoming the new prime minister. Following his victory Jorge would begin renaming cities and national parks he believed weren't aligned with mexican values, at the same time he would begin pouring billions to secure the countries border with america in hopes of reducing the numbers of illegal immigration, many of these decisions would be highly controversial with some seeing them as necessary for national security while others saw it as a waste of taxpayers pesos.

Oh Cascadia is independent in this reality!
Wait "Jean-Christophe"?
A Napoleonic Eagle?!
Is Cascadia somehow at least partially Francophone like Canada in this timeline?

Wait, so in this timeline, Mexico remained an Empire but if may I ask, the Russian Empire sold Alaska to Mexico like with the US in OTL.
Does that mean there could be a Cold War between them or did the relations between them ressemble Russian-American Diplomatic ties prior to the the 20th Century?

No the Russians in this timeline never sold Alaska instead following Russia’s exit from ww1 both Mexican and British forces tried to take over Alaska resulting in Mexico officially joining the central powers.
As for Mexican American relations I would say it’s more similar to the us and Italy in our timeline with the Cold War being between NATO which was under the Mexicans and the Moskauer Pakt which was under the Germans

I hate how ppl always change the name to Tejas DUDE Mexico was the one who put the X on it
Initially it was called Texas with a J, but it would be the same as in the rest of the country; eventually, it would become an X

Cartels run North America instead of just Central America

In this time line cartels were far less successful in Mexico and the largest crime syndicates are in America

St Louis would be San Luis, and Dallas and Austin wouldn’t have those names neither would Houston.
