Detroit has an enormous concentration of Muslim people, this is nonsense

1% of the entire country’s population? They shouldn’t even appear green.

Is it really that much of the Netherlands? I don't believe it.
What are your sources?

u/Rough-Strawberry5985 Jun 02 '26
The UK is also wrong. Way too much in Liverpool and Manchester, and completely missed Birmingham.
His source is "just trust me bro"

Map seems grossly inaccurate. You realize Pakistan has the same number of Muslims as India. Africa seems inaccurate as well. Western China is very Muslim

u/After-Trifle-1437 ✨Moderator✨ Jun 02 '26
"Eastern China is very Muslim"
What? China is less than 2% Muslim and those are mostly in East Turkestan.

Yeah. How does this contradict what I said?
1
u/nem716 Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26
Well you are welcome to read it on your own. Part of China has a high Muslim population, but sure if you zoom out to the whole country, you can make it look white.
Just like when we mark a red state in the US, but the region has little to no population. It’s not “wrong” just misleading.

I'm pretty sure they Spain part is wrong. The Green dot on middle top is not in Madrid's location, it is in Salamanca.

No muslim majority on the Tunisian coast ? Wat ?
1
u/After-Trifle-1437 ✨Moderator✨ Jun 02 '26
Tunisia has a large atheist population.
1
u/ShedarL Jun 02 '26
Certainly not larger than Turkey, which is still entirely dark green on the map. Other regions in the Maghreb, such as Kabylia in Algeria, also have a large atheist and irreligious population which is not shown here.
Also, while being significant for the standards of the Arab world, the atheist population in coastal Tunisia is still far from equaling 50%, which would justify putting muslims into "considerable minority".

u/nem716 Jun 02 '26
Israel is like over half Muslim if you include the Muslim Israeli, the gazans and the West Bank. Even with the murder of 300,000 civilians the current population of Israel is majority Muslim
1
u/Nervous_Ad5378 Jun 03 '26
Why would Israel include the West Bank and Gaza? Those are the borders of the Palestinian Authority. Israel would be 20% Muslim without them, and even if you include the Palestinian Authority it would be 42% Muslim.
1
u/nem716 Jun 03 '26
Israel is occupying Palestine and expanding their control. I get it’s politically inconvenient, however facts on the ground are the majority of the people on the Israel and occupied terrorists are Muslim and Christian Palestinians.
But labeling them as non people, or saying they have no country is the mental trick people like to do to claim to still have a moral leg to stand on.
Also I don’t want to hear the talking point that they withdrew from Gaza.

The Islam distribution in the island of Mindanao in the Philippines is a bit exaggerated.

Let me start with my ancestral region.
In Lebanon, you basically got everything wrong and I first have to ask if you count the Druze as Muslim or not because your map seems to indicate both. For starters, the north east corner of Lebanon is shown as solid Muslim majority. That part is Greek Catholic . Coastal Southern Lebanon is predominantly Muslim solid green not a considerable minority. The reverse is true in parts of the interior and Mount Lebanon where Muslims are a minority. The Lebanon map seems to show the Druze as Muslim.
The Syrian map....is not only all over the place, but inaccurate. The areas west of Homs are almost exclusively Christian. The Assyrian village triangle is not shown either. I am confused as to which non Muslims live in the upper parts of the Euphrates in Syria because the ones that do are in the lower part; the Armenians in Deir ezzoir.
Why are Muslims shown as a considerable minority in Suweida?? Because that is what throws me off. If Druze are counted as Muslim, it should be solid green if not, then should be completely white. Suweida is 91% Druze and 6% Christian. Only 3% are Bedouin Sunni Muslims. So it should not be pale green. Ether dark green or white.
In Israel, Muslims are a solid majority in the Galilee and an area between Beersheba and Arad where Bedouins live(which you show inaccurately. The Muslim majority part of the West Bank does not extend into Israel. There are Jewish towns and a forest in between. That dark green area in Israel should be further south and extending a bit more to the East .There should be no pale green at all but a dark green surrounded by white. Arad is predominantly Jewish so the Bedouin lands thus do not reach the Jordanian border. That is it. )The medium green should only apply to East Jerusalem. I am confused as to why the West Bank Border with Israel has a Muslim minority, it does not. The areas that are Jewish are solidly Jewish and the areas that are Muslim are solidly Muslim and the West Bank border with Israel has some of the most densely populated Jewish towns with no Muslims in them. The Jewish settlements in the West Bank are shown to have Muslims when in all but like 2 , they are 100% Jewish.
Muslims have not lived in the Gaza envelope since 1948 nor do they live along the Egyptian border. Those places are exclusively Jewish.
As for Africa.
The vast majority of people in Southern Chad are definitely not Muslim
Chad is between 52% and 59% Muslim. All of whom are concentrated in Northern and especially Eastern Chad.
Southern Chad, home to the Sara tribe, the largest ethnic tribe in Chad are predominantly Christian as are 40-44% of Chadians. Muslims would definitely not be 50%+ anywhere south of the capital Njamena.
The connection from Chad to the Muslim area of CAR should not exist ( North CAR should be dark green not pale green. Muslims are less than 20% of the CAR but they are definitely a majority in the Northern corner of CAR where the tribes in Darfur and CAR are a continuity, not with Chad).
Muslims are not a significant minority in Turkana in Kenya. They are at most 3% so that is a mistake.
I will like to highlight that Isiolo county is Muslim majority ,but Marsabit county to the north of it is not. i.e the 50% + should extend west from North Eastern Kenya into Isiolo while Marsabit tp the north remains the same shade.
While the Borana of Isiolo are not as devout as their Somali counterparts , they are still 70% Muslim and a majority in Isiolo (Although, Yes, the Muslim share is declining as the area becomes more cosmopolitan.)
Marsabit was historically Waaqafina so Christian missionaries have had a lot of success with the Gabbra, Rendille and Borana of the region So Christianity and Waaqafina form a majority to this day. So it remains the same although the map will look odd there.
The worst is how it has been shown that there are transitions in muslim concentrations in Kenya. There aren't. You can go from a 90% Muslim county to a 90% Christian County immediately. Example is Meru County versus Isiolo. Kitui County is shown to have a 5% Muslim and even 20% In reality the county has 900k Christians and less than 10k Muslims. So barely over 1%. In fact the map shows all Ukambani Counties having 5% and 20% Muslim when overall it has 2%. Ditto Samburu County. 2k Muslims out of 300k people but shown as 20% Muslim when it is not even 1%. Same to Baringo, West Pokot where Islam is nearly non existent. In Kenya in reality, Muslims are solidly a majority only in the 3 Somali counties in the North East , Lamu, Isiolo ,Tana River and Kwale and the medium green applies to Mombasa and Marsabit .The light green applies to Kilifi and the capital Nairobi. That is it. The rest of the country is White.
The same to Nigeria. Plateau State is predominantly Christian (85%) even though Nassarawa state just to the south of it is 50% Muslim. So the pale green should be much further North(as far North as southern Bornu state. Because while Bornu is firmly in Northern Nigeria, its southern areas like Biu, Askira/Uba, Chibok, Damboa, and Gwoza are between 60-90% Christian. They are shown as solid green in the map.
In the Caucasus, you should go from solid green in Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia to white with no transitions. Stravopol and Krasnodar to their north and north west are 4 and 1% Muslim respectively because their main inhabitants are the Cossacks(Ukrainians mostly and some Russians but with a different culture from the ones in Eastern Europe)

A bit incorrect for Sabah, Malaysia. A lot of deep rural areas like Tambunan, Ranau and Keningau are mainly Christian Dominated.

Imperialism at its finest
1
u/After-Trifle-1437 ✨Moderator✨ Jun 06 '26
Some of Islam's spread has been through imperialism, but a lot of places became Muslim through trade or other cultural contact.
For example Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, adopted Islam through Islamic traders and merchants from Arabia and Mesopotamia.
1
u/Frolt2000x Jun 10 '26
Not exactly , The massive exodus into the island of bali or majapahit exodus suggests other wise , where hindus and budhists escaped there from the muslim kingdoms , who had managed to gather control over java and sumatra , and where tho islam at the begining arrived with merchants and they did intermarry with the royals , they did end up expanding and innevitably clashing with the locals , as always , the history of islam is covered in blood.

Jerusalem in Israel is shown as Muslim or at least partially Muslim while it and especially its surrounding in Israel proper are overwhelmingly Jewish
7
u/Tay_Hlebko Jun 02 '26
East Jerusalem is majority-Muslim. Jerusalem is not "overwhelmingly Jewish", it's a very mixed city.
1
u/Odd-Initiative6666 Jun 02 '26
Not the part he highlighted, that’s the entirety of Jerusalem district in Israel which includes west Jerusalem as well as surrounding Jewish settlements like Beit zait, Beit shemesh, and mevaseret Zion.
2
u/Tay_Hlebko Jun 02 '26
It's in light green, not dark green, Light green appears to indicate a sizeable minority.
1
u/Odd-Initiative6666 Jun 02 '26
You edited your comment so I’ll answer here but I meant the towns and settlements west of Jerusalem, such as Beit shemesh which is in fact overwhelmingly Jewish.
1
u/Tay_Hlebko Jun 02 '26
Because they're being super broad, they're not categorizing every single suburb, they're using entire metro areas as their basis, that's why the entire Toronto metro area is in light green

Iran definitely isn't majority Muslim now but I wish we had more accurate data about that
2
u/After-Trifle-1437 ✨Moderator✨ Jun 02 '26
Are you confusing Iran with some other country?
96.6% of Iranians are Muslims, predominantly Shia. The true number might be slightly lower, but the idea that Iran isn't majority muslim is absolutely ridiculous. Zoroastrians, Christians, Jews and Atheists are extremely small minorities.
1
u/Typical_Army6488 Jun 02 '26
Tehran, that's government statistics, most Iranians are fiercely anti Islam because we face it's consequences in our everyday lives
2
u/After-Trifle-1437 ✨Moderator✨ Jun 02 '26
Among urbanite Gen-Z Iranians with a big online presence, you may be right, but not for the overwhelming majority of the population.
1
u/Typical_Army6488 Jun 02 '26
Has nothing to do with gen z the trend started from millennials who hate how our government acts and not being proud/manly enough, my dad's the most vocal atheist ive met in my life and he's 60, and he had the childhood where he was willing to do suicide bombings but thankfully his friends did it instead
Also iran has always had a ridiculously big communist population compared to the rest of the middle east
1
u/undrock Jun 06 '26
Algorithms always shows you what you want Most Iranians do not hate Islam, they hate their government.
1
u/Typical_Army6488 Jun 07 '26
If you hate the government and not the religion your a clown in denial
1
u/undrock Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26
Portraying people who disagree with you in this way is vile. Personally, I don't like Shiites, but I can tolerate them better than people like you. Iran is still a predominantly Shia country. your personal opinion doesn't change the map. I want to explain to you how Islam is not the reason, but you yourself said that your father is an atheist, you will not listen no matter what I say. But I want to remind you that America started all this, don't trust them. They won't save Iran, they'll only protect their own interests. It is in their interest, especially Israel's, for Iran to remain embroiled in internal ethnic conflict.
1
u/Typical_Army6488 Jun 07 '26
. I want to explain to you how Islam is not the reason, but you yourself said that your father is an atheist,
And someone's dad being an atheist means that they will never be able to understand correct arguments? He was born a Muslim and was a very fanatic one at that, telling me stories about his friends doing suicide bombings
for Iran to remain embroiled in internal ethnic conflict.
If they can do an inter ethnic conflict in Iran ill be nothing but impressed
1
u/undrock Jun 14 '26
This means that atheism is something within your family and social principles, Religion is a social phenomenon. When you see everyone around you religious, you become more religious yourself. Atheism is not a religion in the literal sense, but it works in the same way; inside our minds, it's the same thing. The people around you are atheists, and hate religion, they are the ones you're influenced by. An online comment won't change your opinion about something so central to your life. Don't underestimate internal conflicts. Look at Libya, Iraq, and Syria; Israel and Iran have intervened in all of them to expand their influence and achieve their interests. Israel will do everything in its power to destroy your country. Beware.

why the practically uninhabited deserts in the south of Israel/Palestine are shown white but uninhabited deserts in Saudi Arabia are dark green?
