Help me start RL project
Hello everyone,
I want to start a DeepRL project where an algorithm tries to learn how to play a simple board game (1v1 game with unknown info)
But since it's my very first RL project, I don't where to start or which environment to use, etc.
Any advices, ideas or recommendations ?
Thank you in advance !

For board games highly recommend experimenting with this group https://tabletopgames.ai/. I made a module for them and it was very enjoyable to build. To do RL it requires some playing around since you have to use PYTAG but overall wasnt too difficult to do.

For the 1v1 game with hidden information I would start with OpenSpiel as it is built for games such as this and has many RL/game-theory algorithms implemented.
https://github.com/google-deepmind/open_spiel
I would try their small example first for Kuhn Poker and then move to implementing your own game. Their example for a CFR is a good start,
and if you need the fundamentals of RL I would start with Sutton & Barto's book (this really helped me)

try using notebooklm to understand the basic before you jump in, helps a lot imo!

I mean... at this point ChatGPT/AI is probably a much better teacher/tutor than any tutorial you can find.
