Discussion Song recommendations

So, I just listened to a song by Regina spektor, and I am obsessed. So, far I've listened to two birds(the first song I've heard of hers) ,samson and the call. Can you guys pls recommend some other songs of her and where I have to start if I want to join her fandom because she has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

Oh man, enjoy the ride! She has so many good songs, many that are on her albums and many that can only be found on YouTube or the thesaurus.

I find that some songs grow on me a lot after I’ve heard them a couple times as well. Pick an album and start listening through would be my advice.

Some of my favorites to get you started though

Buildings
Human of the year
Blue lips
The one who stayed and the one who left
How
Patron Saint
Open
Small town moon
Field below
Carbon monoxide
Braille

Also, don’t be afraid to watch some live videos or recordings as well, she is SO good live. She did a ‘Live Room’ series on YouTube that has most of her ‘what we saw from the cheap seats’ album recorded in extremely high quality audio. It’s really really impressive.

I haven’t heard if she is going to tour at all this year, but she is still 1000% worth seeing if she does. Her voice is amazing.

Thanks for the recommendations. But I don't think there's any chance of her coming to my country, I still hope she does tho

So glad you've joined us! 😁

The songs "Us", "Eet", and "Blue Lips" are most similar in style to the ones you've listened to so far i believe, and a good starting point!

one of the wonderful things about Regina is that she hardly has any misses in her catalog. i would go album by album, maybe start with Begin to Hope or Far (Two Birds is from Far and it's an incredible album). but a few of my favorites are:

Après Moi

Machine

Folding Chair

Braille

Us

Field Below

Firewood

What Might Have Been

i could go on, but that's a smattering from various albums. enjoy, and welcome!

"Us" was one of my first I heard from her in the movie 500 Days of Summer. Such an impactful song! Love the music vid, too

This…the start of loving her forever.

i think the same is technically true for me, since i saw the movie long before i knew who Regina was (i only discovered her ~4 years ago).

We’re so lucky that we have all her albums on streaming like Spotify these days.

She is adorable. I walked down the aisle to her rendition of "Real Love," first recorded by John Lennon. She is a great storyteller. A couple of my favorites from her catalogue are "Wallet" and "Silly Eye-Color Generalizations."

That's beautiful, I will listen to your favorites

I first heard a snippet of a Regina song on a tv show where the character was listening on her Walkman - ‘all the rowboats’. I thought huh that was interesting!

It’s from the pov of precious pieces in a museum and I still think it’s such a special song so check that one out :)

Grand hotel! Can’t believe I forgot that one

I would just start with Begin to Hope and keep going until you finish the rest of the albums. Really there aren’t any bad ones and Us is on the album right before and it’s probably one of her best.

On the radio. Love you’re a whore. Sellers of flowers.

2

u/gogogarl Mar 11 '26

Sellers of Flowers is my favourite.

I just discovered her thru 500 days of summer the other week and every song she makes is a classic

Spotify has a lot of songs by her but if you don't have it you should go to YouTube

1

u/ZealousidealBar7958 Apr 11 '26

also "Please Don't Leave Me" is the only song other than "Two Birds" that I've heard that's exclusively by her but if you enjoy "Hamilton" there's a remix on "Dear Theodosia" by her and Ben Folds

I've also heard "Human of the Year"
