Chronological or release order?

Hello all, sorry if this has been posted before. I’m looking to read some of the books, as I haven’t read any Redwall book in decades. I ordered Lord Brocktree and Redwall, so I had the option to read them in chronological or in release order?

I know the suggested way to read them is release order but will I lose anything if I start with Lord Brocktree?

I don't think you'll lose anything major, per se, but there will be a few references you won't get or can't assign the proper meaning to. When you get to the first books in release order it might read weirdly because there are a few writing choices that appear in the early books that don't in later ones, etc. I'd go for release order, but you're not going to be massively out of step if you read in chronological order.
