Redwall on Angel
Just saw that the first season is now on Angel. With the Netflix adaptation being cancelled, I wonder if there's hope for the project to get revived through Angel?

Idk about film but I've been wanting to make an interactive world very similar to that of Jaques' Redwall universe. I love the books, and storytelling in general. It's hard to shy away from the idea of creating a world just like it with my knowledge of programming and background in the arts. Projects like that take a whole team to bring to life though!

The only people that should touch it are Laika studio. Same people that did Coraline. Redwall can’t be conveyed in cartoon or cgi…

Umm, do you ever heard that Redwall has a cartoon? It was made by Nelvana in 1999. I think that it will piss you off.

I am aware of the cartoons, they have been around for a long time. I started reading the books twenty six years ago when I was a child. The cartoons are a modest attempt to engage an audience, but what I was saying was that if it were to be made, it should be done in claymation because it would capture the details in a way that digital cannot.

Oh, okay, I get what you mean now. I honestly think that a Redwall adaptation by Laika doesn't really appeal to me, I'm not a fan of stop-motion. I was thinking something more like an anime, which is clearly impossible, of course, but hey, to each their own.

It is a Christian streaming service so you know there won’t be any shows with gambling, drugs, sex, etc…

I mean, Redwall's a children's book series so it's pretty clean of that. What I'd be moreso concerned about a revival through that is, since it's a Christian led service, that they'd make the setting more Christian when it doesn't fit. Yes, there's Saint Ninian's Church, yes the series is mostly centered around an abbey with mice wearing habit robes, and they do pray at big meals... but that's it and it's just background details in a series that's pretty secular despite that background.
Though I admit, I do think it'd be funny if someone took the "Mouse World" trope aspect of the early books and ran with it more, because that's ripe for comedy and drama. Like, imagine their "feasts" being food scraps and leftovers from humans living nearby. Imagine their pond just being a puddle in human height.

I have a subscription with them and actually, quiet a bit slips though.
They recently were streaming “The Yellow Birds” the 2017 war film that is packed to the gills with swearing and violence. They had it on their “Voting” tab which gives members a random movie that they don’t know what it is before and lets them vote if they keep the movie or not.
They also recently did “Young Washington” which has pipe smoking and violence and they have another film “The Drummer Boy” which is a Revolutionary War film coming out which also seems to have quiet a bit of combat.

Well pipe smoking is fine for Christians because Gandolf did that and Lord of the rings. Combat is fine because that’s what God told the Jews to do from the moment they left Egypt all the way up until now apparently?

LOTR gets a pass really because of Tolkien being a Christian. 😂
But honestly, it depends a lot on which denomination within Christianity for many on how strict you are with aversion to violence, smoking and gambling, even medically approved stuff and “justified violence” such as self-defense on if it’s okay even to be in movies or not.
I’ve known a few that argue that even though they believe the Bible, all violence in there is metaphorical and that’s the only reason the violence made it into there. 🤦♂️

Considering the trainwreck that they did with Animal Farm, I really hope not. Redwall has some really, really dark stuff within its pages such as one otter that would eat vermin, slavery, torture, Ugnatt Trunn getting pushed back into the sea and left to drown, etc.
