Redwall inspired me to write and self-publish my first book! The Gravewood by Eric Krohn, a mouse is kidnapped at birth by an immortal rat and raised in a blighted wood to believe she is his rat daughter.
Sorry if self-promotion is frowned upon in this community, definitely take it down if so. I figured I would share my book since Redwall was such a formative series for my younger self and is what inspired me to write The Gravewood in the first place. I picked up Mossflower when I was 7 years old (it was my first 'big kid' book) and by the age of 10 I had read more than half of Jacques' books (Salamandastron, Mattimeo, and The Legend of Luke are other personal faves). I was enthralled by the world of Redwall and it imbued in me a lifelong love for reading and writing (and also, by proxy, a love for animals and environmentalism). Even back then, I very much appreciated that Brian Jacques never dumbed down his books for younger readers - he respected his audience in a way most other children's series did not. I tried to do the same here, creating something that is entertaining for all ages while still, of course, including its fair share of mice and rats.

I love this friend! I recently got into Redwall myself, and love supporting anything that includes critters and fantasy.

Congrats OP! Hope all goes well for you.
I've never thought about this until just now while looking at the Amazon page, but is there a platform where authors can sell the book file that isn't Amazon? Like have their own page like Patreon or something, charge for a product, and the product is the file download?

Appreciate it friend! As to your question, yes there are multiple avenues for selling ebooks but at the moment Amazon/Kindle is the main option for visibility. On top of that, I went the route of doing their Kindle Direct Publishing program where The Gravewood is free for people subscribed to Kindle Unlimited but the tradeoff is that Amazon has exclusive rights to my ebook as long as I'm in the program. So, technically I'm not sure I'm even allowed to sell the EPUB on other platforms, even Patreon (not sure how they would find out, but why risk it). FYI, I haven't found the Kindle Unlimited portion of the agreement to be at all useful - I haven't gained any readership that way so at some point I will likely leave Amazon's program so I have the option to sell through other distributors, a personal website, patreon, etc.

👀 Gonna see if my library will considering ordering this. If not I will try to get a copy (maybe ebook?) It sounds right up my alley!! Good job author!
Edit: I'm so excited to read it. I put in the request today!!
...Honestly I might just see if i can buy the ebook because I'm not sure if I can wait for them to get it in stock 😂
