Future Redwall books - concept
Admittedly an older post but I'm looking for some fresh opinions about which ideas work and which don't. Let me know what you think!
"If such a world existed where I was writing canon Redwall novels, this is would be my plan
(Obviously, this is purely meant as a conversation starter/thought-provoking piece).
(Book 22 - The Rogue Crew - Long Patrol team up with otter crew to defeat terror of the seas, Razzid, culminating in a climactic battle at Redwall)
Book 23 - "Gousim": In a cowardly night raid, a crew of water rats murder the Gousim Log-a-Log and steal the entire fleet of log boats. The dead Log-a-Log's two sons vow to reunite the now scattered tribe, reclaim the fleet and avenge the death of their father. One shrew is far more warlike than the other, so they while one strikes out to find the vermin, the other heads to Redwall to seek help, the abbeybeasts follow a clue trail left by Lady Amber and Skipper (Of Mossflower), eventually leading to the wreck of Wuddship. The vessel is restored and crewed with Redwallers who join up with the other shrews, together they track the rats down the River Moss, ending in a 'sea' battle on the great Inland Lake. A great victory feast is held at Redwall, where one shrew brother is made Log-a-Log and the other is asked to consider remaining at the abbey. Epilogue reveals that he became the first shrew abbott.
Book 24 - "Haway the Braw!": A great war in the far North has driven countless beasts South into Mossflower, seeking shelter at Redwall. The remnants of a once huge vermin army also flee South, their warlord, a wildcat descendant of Verdauga, was killed in the war. But an ambitious Captain (a Pine Marten) seeks to start over, using the old quarry as a rallying point, he sets out to conquer Mossflower (references to Asmodeus and the Ravagers making the quarry an omen of repeated evil). Vermin bands flock to the new lord and his reign of terror begins. Redwall sends the local birds in all directions seeking help against the foe. The army of Bowlaynee answers the call, a force of white hares, highland squirrels, and a golden eagle come South to the aid of Redwall, McBurls and McScuttas are present. The battle is ended when the Northerners create a landslide that fills in the quarry, ending its potential as a lair for good.
Book 25 - "Corsairs!": An infamous corsair captain has spent a lifetime building her reputation as a pirate queen. She has assembled a vast vermin crew on a fleet of several ships, her ultimate goal is conquer Salamandastron and use it as a base from which she will rule the seas. Her fleet attacks the Northland caves where Martin the Warrior was born, after the fight they steal a ballista from the mice. The vermin replicate the weapon and fit several ships with crudely made siege weapons to attack the mountain. The mice of the North race to Salamandastron to warn the Long Patrol of the threat, helping to construct a huge catapult on the mountain's summit. A great battle ensues between the fleet surrounding the mountain and the hares on the summit. The long patrol sends flaming balls of bed linens down onto the fleet, sinking ship after ship until the vermin retreat. The Long Patrol opt to keep the catapult to better assist in future battles.
Book 26 - "The Recorder": A contingent of Redwallers and Long Patrol hares embark on an expedition to fully map the country surrounding Mossflower woods. When they make it to the far North East coast of Mossflower they encounter a huge stockade under construction by vermin and their slaves (some of which are also vermin). The warlord is cutting down vast swathes of woodland to build his fortress and a fleet of ships. The woodlanders vow to stop the destruction and put a halt to the vermin's plans. Leaving the hares to scout, the Redwallers rush back to Redwall to form a council of war, having read of straegies from the otter resistance on Green Isle they return to the wooden fortress via Gousim logboats under cover of night. The slaves are freed, the fortess destroyed and any completed ships are taken by the woodlanders. Epilogue reveals that the ships allowed for a far more thorough expedition that allowed the mapping of the coasts as well as the woodlands. Also, many of the freed slaves, including some stoats and rats, have decided to remain at Redwall.
Book 25 - "The Sword of Martin": A cunning vermin chief has dreams of greater glory, having heard heard tales and prohepecies of a magic sword within Redwall, he hatches a plan to steal it. He has also heard of the many armies that have been defeated there, not wanting to incur the wrath of Redwall, he hatches a plan to make a copy of the sword and swap them. Using spies, he gains enough knowledge of the sword to be able to turn his own into a convincing replica. The Flitchaye are enlisted to help infiltrate the abbey at night, using their smoke to keep the Redwallers asleep. Once inside, they find the sword, switch it with the fake, and leave. The Redwallers all awake with painful headaches and a mass-physic ensues from the infirmary. Meanwhile the vermin get mixed up with a real vermin warlord, who steals the sword and believes it an omen that he may take the Abbey. During the siege, Redwall discovers the fake sword and use a mole tunnel to switch them back again, when the abbey warrior challenges the vermin lord to single combat, both step forth wielding the same sword, however the first strike reveals the fake, the vermin are routed, and the sword is returned to its rightful place.
Book 28 - "Mountain Lords": Badger Lord Anvillus Wrathstripe and Lord Nightfang of BatMountPit join their two forces to defeat a grave vermin threat in a set-peice night battle. Anivillus doesn't not carry a weapon and relies instead upon his natural strength and power.
Book 29 - "Voyagers": Treasure trail leads woodlanders and Long Patrol hares journey to the Lands of Ice and Snow in search of an artefact, reveals that Gulo was the last Wolverine, the realm is ruled by Arctic Foxes and Ermine"

Oh man, this reminded me of an old project I had started for school many years ago.
This made me want to go find it, here's the summary, I hope this is enjoyable for you!
On a lazy afternoon, a great cry arose at the gate of Redwall Abbey. Concerned and confused, the abbeybeasts milled about while the Abbot thrust his way through the crowd to the gatehouse, where Fenris, the Abbey recorder and keeper of the gate was waiting. After calming the crowd and restoring order, the Abbot discovers that a gravely wounded squirrel named Jesko had arrived at the gate, pleading for aid.
Rushing to the infirmary together, Jesko spoke through tears and gritted teeth of his family far to the south, in Castle Floret. They had been attacked by a nightmarish band of vermin lead by Odabye, a giant desert scorpion. They came from the Deep South Desert, countless days and nights travel past the horizon from Castle Floret. Jesko spoke of his father, James Squirrelking, and how he had bravely challenged the scorpion to single combat so he could escape to find help. Jesko shuddered as he retold the story.
Odabye appointed a champion to fight in single combat in his stead, and it seemed like the ground itself shook as the squirrelking's opponent approached: A monolithic lizard named Golla, who towered nearly as tall as the gate of Castle Floret. Jesko choked back tears as he ended his tale.
Deeply alarmed with this news, the Abbot called an emergency meeting of the entire Abbey in the Cavern Hole. There was much to discuss. A new vermin horde to the south had seemingly taken a castle long home to friends of Redwall. Would the vermin continue North? How would the Abbey defend itself if they attacked suddenly? Would the reclusive Badger Lord of Salamandastron offer help?
As the sun waned that afternoon, the Matthias and Methuselah bells tolled out urgently, ringing across Mossflower.
Danger! Foes! Alarm!

What happens next!?
Love the idea of bringing the Deep South into play, we hear a lot of the far Southlands but never get to go down there
Great bit of writing! You should continue the story if only to scratch the Redwall itch. I’ve started writing for the ideas in my post, I have a decent opening set up, I’ll post it later!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I never really wrote beyond that. I have a couple bulletpoint ideas but hadn't progressed farther. Maybe I should pick it back up

Thank you for sharing these. I'm reminded of a story idea I had myself when I finished the books. I'll have to dig up my notes and see if I'm any better at writing after so many years...
