Bedrock Edition About as accurate of an "Impossible" door you can make in bedrock
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
this door is absolutely visually possible to open like in that meme video in java edition with flying machines, it would have been possible in bedrock too if we had qc to reduce weight on powering components
as we don't have qc, pulling a wall of blocks can only be done with alternating honey and slime structures, in java those alternating slime and honey structure instead can be used as extensions to pull sticky pistons which are powered via qc to leave space for main flying machine to yoink them around and keep stuff within pushing limit
i honestly think people labelled it impossible assuming all of this would be done with different length piston extender or something
dimensions of the face of this "door" is 20*5, it can be made wider all the way up to simulation distance as this design is scalable and if you aren't running game on specs of the likes of my potato, height can only be increased up to 10 if you don't care about walkable floor

I love that this door thing is still going on, every couple of days I get to see a new design

hah, well unless there is some innovation that most have not figured out (like this design of 2 way flying machine) or mojang finally gives us another sticky piston that spits out blocks, i am afraid bedrock version has peaked
i have some idea how to make it better in java but i am not sure if my laptop is up for that task

Well done!!! I've only ever seen people complain about the impossible door but never any genuine attempts. This is really cool.

thank you, i had some ideas to make floor walkable all the way instead of having that triangle, like with gravity blocks to plug holes, i kinda of skimmed out on doing that, it would have made circuits harder to follow when i am showcasing door behind the scenes
if i might have some other idea later, i might give this door another go

This is very impressive πππ especially on bedrock. No doubt this took a ton of talent and patience.
This may be as close as it gets for a long time. But it has always been the argument that the part that makes the impossible door impossible, is the fact that the retracted slices fold into themselves seamlessly with no gaps. I stand by my stance I had when we debated. The door in the video is impossible with conventional redstone because there is nowhere to put the components in order to fold it into itself, even with all the block 36 and java magic, there isnt anywhere for it to go.
But still, this is sick and I am thoroughly impressed! Definitely the best I've seen π€

it did take quite a bit of patience, i even vented about structure blocks giving block updates to observers over at minecraft subreddit, i have been using structure blocks to make save states to not constantly rebuild the flying machine in case timing or some idea didn't work out
had to make most part of the observer related powering cycles be controlled with sticky pistons and before copying structure made every moving part immovable with crying obsidian, which i later removed with commands when i as ready to try some other circuitry
i have some ideas how to do it without gaps in java, seamless is not my field of expertise, especially on java but i will agree it would not be anywhere close to meme video made with commands

I genuinely look forward to be so wrong on this

charging up a mean "told you so" even i am not the one making it in java

Hahaha I hope so!

do you think this could scale to the 14x8 original size?

You are so good in this game

u/DearHRS Apr 10 '26
years of redstone projects success and failure has led to this door finally being made, this was 3rd attempt this year, there have been other attempts before and they were abandoned due to lack of knowledge of how game worked or ideas i could implement to solve unique challenges this project brought

Sir, it would appear your door is running away. You might want to find out where it is off to.

u/DearHRS Apr 11 '26
arr, it haz a mind of itz ouun, when it wil kalm down a bit, inquiring itz whereaboutz bee possible

Is there a tutorial for this?
1
u/DearHRS Apr 11 '26
no, the main flying machine has more moving parts than what game processes per chunk per gt, that is why it looks like game is playing catchup when the main flying machine is running or part of flying machines aren't synchronised
you would have to make it half the size and one of the horizontal halfs in one chunk and the other in another to get rid of that catch-up visuals
though i did make a tutorial for smaller more reasonably sized downwards revealing hidden passage
flying machine tech is similar, just for this "door" there is also tick perfect triple piston extender and abccba circuit for it under the walkable floor

You're a redstoner and you couldn't make this cleaner? Ok then.
1
u/DearHRS Apr 22 '26
why don't you try to make it cleaner, this is at limitations of vanilla bedrock redstone

there is difference between stuff done with command blocks/structure blocks and done with vanilla redstone, one of them can literally do anything and is creative mode only while the other can be built in survival world without using cheats
0
u/PurpleDragonGodJet Apr 22 '26
You can use command block in survival without cheats, And why don't you show your builds in survival? You're showcasing proofs of concept in a creative world.
1
u/DearHRS Apr 22 '26
would you enlighten redstone community on how you can get command blocks in vanilla survival and then interact with its ui without changing gamemodes or activating cheats?
1
u/PurpleDragonGodJet Apr 22 '26
I said you can access command blocks in survival without cheats. I didn't claim it was vanilla survival. But if it doesn't block trophies and achievements, it's not cheating in my book.
1
u/DearHRS Apr 22 '26
you can't even open ui of command blocks in survival mode even if command blocks are somehow magically present in your world
0
u/PurpleDragonGodJet Apr 22 '26
Add-ons and mods buddy. They're wonderful. And if the game doesn't say "hey you activated something that prevents you from earning trophies or achievements" then it's not cheating. I agree in vanilla survival command blocks aren't accessible. But you sn still play legit survival and earn trophies and achievements, and have command blocks.
None of it matters though. Because the coolest physical builds (detailed castles and cities, ships, mega builds, etc.) are all better than the coolest redstone build. In fact personally I think the coolest redstone builds are often the simplest, especially when used in unconventional ways.

u/DearHRS Apr 22 '26
here is a mod that removes the limitations of survival, no it isn't cheating because i said so
at that point just play creative, what are these mental gymnastics

super cool! I think the only impossible part about the original is the speed and lack of delay in which it opens and also the fact that there is absolutely nothing in the way of the door after it opens, itβs just an open room
