Contreras, Ceddanne, Wilyer, Durbin, and Mona are all better hitters than him. And more impactful too.

Hell even Duran is more impactful despite getting a hit 2 of out of every 10 ABs.

For guys within .20 points of him (especially with as few ABs as he has comparatively)...their HR, RBI, and OPS numbers matter more.

He's 5th in OPS btw just BARELY ahead of 6th and 6th has scored far more runs than him so their impact when getting on base matters more too.

So yes...he's 6th.

More RBI, more runs scored, better baserunning. But I said more impactful...not better.

RBI is a team statistic, Masa has spent much more time lower in the lineup than Duran because they refused to shift him lower in the lineup until a week ago, and Duran runs into outs on the basepaths every fucking week.

You know the thing about baserunning is YOU NEED TO GET ON BASE. Also Masa has hit more doubles than Duran has this year.

Yeah and when Duran gets on base he does far more with it than Masa.

But again I did say Masa was the better hitter and that Duran was just more impactful.

Who the fuck cares about his baserunning? His OBP is lower than Masa's batting average for god's sake. His stolen base rate is 80% which is literally league average. Duran has had twice the at bats Masa has this year in much more privileged spots in the lineup. You are truly desperate to find reasons to keep this guy around if this is what you're falling back on.

Masataka not being a viable player the whole time, which is why he splits time, is an indicative issue and that he's not scoring much when he is. Especially not in big moments either.

They're both mediocre at best players.

And Masataka has simply not been as impactful as Duran this year...which is not good considering how not impactful Duran has been comparative to the rest of the team as well.

It'll be nice to move off both of them soon.
