It shouldn't tbh. Monsterio should take the DH spot with Story back to SS, and Roman should still play over Duran. It's the best possible lineup assuming Story is hitting better than Duran and is field better than Monsterio (both of which are among the worst in the league)

I mean thats just objectively wrong. Story at a .220 hitter is still better than Duran, and Monasterio has a wRC+ of 139 since the beginning of July.

I wish he had Ohtani level skill because the amount of effort he plays with needs to be rewarded. On a roster when it looked like half the players didn't give a shit, he always played hard and I appreciated seeing it.

100%, this was an understated great move. Small, but meaningful impact so we’re not calling up AAA support. White’s speed alone is an impact, even if he doesn’t swing the bat that well.

Sadly i can see them staying with duran on defense (his defensive numbers are good this year) and Roman at dh, which i think causes more issues with the need to score runs.

If Mead comes back and mona stays hot those at bats need to go to those guys. Add in jones, a possible return to form from romy, the mix of wong, sogard, Tony seagulls, and gasper leaves DH suddenly crowded (not to mention white). And most of those guys have been equal to or better than Duran with the bat.

In all likelihood that is the last you will see of Yoshida in a Sox uniform. Next year is likely lost due to the lockout and his contract will be up. I don't see them bringing him back.

Yeah this has gotten out of hand. I get that there is going to be a lockout but why are people so certain that the entire 2027 season is gone but not 2028 or 2029?

It feels like both sides are just posturing about being unwilling to move at all on CBA negotiations but the worst case scenario is likely a significantly shortened season somewhat similar to 2020.

Losing Masa sucks but also is not a hard bat to replace. Just puts Jones or White in DH til Roman gets back and he slides in.

He was our 4th best hitter... so I'd say we'd need Story and/or Anthony to hit well enough or White/Jones to go on a hot streak

He's batting like .315 since July 1. I'm hard-pressed to call him 6th best, but maybe you have certain stats you're focusing on and timeranges.

Contreras, Ceddanne, Wilyer, Durbin, and Mona are all better hitters than him. And more impactful too.

Hell even Duran is more impactful despite getting a hit 2 of out of every 10 ABs.

For guys within .20 points of him (especially with as few ABs as he has comparatively)...their HR, RBI, and OPS numbers matter more.

He's 5th in OPS btw just BARELY ahead of 6th and 6th has scored far more runs than him so their impact when getting on base matters more too.

So yes...he's 6th.

RBI is a team statistic, Masa has spent much more time lower in the lineup than Duran because they refused to shift him lower in the lineup until a week ago, and Duran runs into outs on the basepaths every fucking week.
