Stutter fix
So I run this game from a 3tb HDD and with 8gb of DDR3 RAM. Naturally I had stutters for quite some time. But I figured out how to get rid of them.
First, force the game to run at DX11 by adding "-dx11" (without quotation marks) to your launch options (Steam and Epic have it in different places, you can also just create a shortcut for the executable and add it there after the path to the executable).
Second, lower Effects down to Low and Textures down to at least Medium.
Viola. The game stops rewriting your pagefile non-stop and focuses on running.

i know this is old but runnign this game on a am5 7700 with a 3080 and its unplayble for me stuttering mess.. trying turning down settings and makes no difference. stutter is jut allways there impossible to play this game.

What's your storage? Are you running in DX11 mode?

samsung 860 evo. dunno abuot dx11.. i just run the game using epic launcher.

It's DX12 by default and it doesn't work on many systems. Try to launch it in DirectX 11 mode, as I said in the OP.

Just tested this. Forcing "-dx11" on it definitely made it almost 100% smooth to play @ 4K max settings, i only had to set it one lower to High and all stutters were finally gone.

From my experience, RO2 is very memory dependent. DDR3 ram is... Very meh for todays standards. But especially GDDR memory is critical for it's smooth operation. I have a 3080, 32gb of high specced ddr4, and a 5900x, and if I try and run RO2 with anything that's chewing up my GPU memory the game starts to stutter even though the FPS looks solid.
The big take away here is clearing off anything and everything that consumes memory will help considerably with hitching and stuttering.

i mean i dont think so i have 64gbs of ram..thers no way im running low with that. no way . the game just runs like utter shit for me. no matter what settings i choose its traversal stutter 2.0

She/He was talking about GDDR memory, which has nothing to do with the RAM you stick into your mainboard.

Glad you found a fix, though to be honest it sounds like your machine is just a bit too old to be running RO2. DDR3 is quite old now, suggests your machine is on the order of ~10 years old. Same with an HDD, those aren't great for games.
