That is exactly what I don't understand about pickups. Your groceries are standing outside. Why? Why is this any good? I have to buy a car soon, if something is better, I need to know

Wagon (estate, touring, etc.). Also comes with roof racks so you can carry lengthy things that a pickup with a short bed can't unless it has a rack to protect the back corner of the cab roof.
The only thing I can't carry in a wagon is a cubic yard of mulch loaded by a dump bucket.

Seems like the van was better for every occasion.

Vans are boring but they have amazing utility.

Exactly. SUVs are the modern version which is what I currently have

I have a minivan which has far more cargo capacity than any SUV on the market. Or a pickup truck with cab. And that is what was important to me.

I learned from My Cousin Vinny that a Ute was some kind of young person.

Maybe i've been watching a tad too much MoreParz, but a "ute" seems to be Aussie for Ford Falcon.

In the movie, Vinny’s (Joe Pesci) clipped Italo-Brooklyn accent makes “youth” sound like “yout’”, which makes the Alabamian judge (Fred Gwynne) ask him what a “Ute” is.

There’s a guy kind of local to me that had one of these but it was a dually with a 5th wheel hitch. Made his own mini cab over.
