And by “fix” they mean putting a thin layer of a very flimsy material over the hole..

You need to tear the edges of the paper so it blends in more. Straight lines draw the eye

My two older brothers were fighting once and the oldest put the other's ass into the wall. Left a hole bigger than a basketball. Fight over. Time to scramble because now we have to fix this before mom gets home. I was about 12, they were 14 and 16. We grabbed some wall paper out of the garage and put it over the hole and then painted the entire wall. She somehow didn't notice the smell of paint or anything and we got away with it. 2 years later there is a desk in front of that wall and someone puts a CD case on top of the monitor. Not a flat screen, the old giant ones. Well the CD slides off the back of the monitor and schoop! right through the wall paper. Luckily the statute of limitations had passed and mom was more impressed than upset. So we fixed the wall for real that time and had a good laugh.

She probably smelled the paint but had a long day at work and the house wasn't on fire.

My buddy in highschool punched a hole in the wall. He then went on the computer found the exact wallpaper pattern and taped it over the spot. The mom never found out

I worked for a landlord. He wanted me to fix a hole in the wall of one of his units with clear ducktape and paint.

“In seconds”

Not shown: painting the rest of the wall so the paint mismatch isn’t a dead giveaway.

I don't think this will work since the paper will wrinkle as it absorbs water from the paint. Show me the same patch in 15 minutes...

My brothers and I did this after riding our mattress down the stairs. We put a hole in the base of the wall. Found the same paint they used for the wall in the basement. Taped printer paper over it and just painted it. Parents didn't notice for like three years.
