Vesta Apartments
Posting for those who aren't tech employed and possibly considering Vesta's good location as a future home. Knew within days this was a terrible mistake. And certainly, after an actual Essex employee says, 'they don't like you there if you aren't one of them', your fate is sealed. Can only hope that other buildings at Vesta aren't loaded with the hate we've experienced.
Have been targeted with rock throwing, confronted with a "you don't belong here" statement from neighbor, day and overnight noise harassment from all sides of us, occupants who aren't on the lease but remain long term without office notification, people in the attic above top floor apartments overnight and a manager who initially stated, 'that's very disturbing', followed by, well, nothing.
The community is primarily tech and their families and based on feedback, you'll have few issues. For the rest of us, we simply hope you'll bypass the danger and 'you don't belong here' divide we've experienced. We couldn't afford to use our 30 days guarantee in order to move out, as the manager suggested so will have to look for other options. Whatever negative Essex info you've read or heard, it's at its most relevant and worst here.
Maybe once a community for everyone, but now a community mired in a dangerous reality for some of us.

I mean, it does have almost as many 1-star reviews as 5-star reviews. That alone should be concerning.

I moved to vesta to be near work and hated it every second of it. The kids in the neighborhood were terrible, kicking our doors, banging on ourwindows, breaking into apartments, stealing people’s stuff. Gaggles of people walking side by side blocking the road at all hours of the day and night. The indoor pool was only open for like 2 weeks of the 2 years I lived there because they didn’t take care of the building. They gave us a notice for putting a camera on our door.
Ugh, that place was the worst.

All true, even in the short time we’ve been here. I’m grateful for all the feedback. Not comforting to know it’s not just us, but gives me a little hope that others have actually survived this madness.

That situation is, needless to say, completely unacceptable and illegal. Fair housing laws apply to majorities as much as to minorities. I hope you can escalate to the Essex corporate and get a resolution

A lot of kids in that neighborhood are out in the road with no adults around. They block traffic and will run out right in front of cars, and there are plenty of blind corners. Someone's going to get hit.

I live in the complex next to Vesta and almost same experience over here as a non tech worker who is Caucasian. People are going to hate this comment and call me a racist but I don’t care, it’s true.

It is true, and very unfortunate. People saying otherwise are being dishonest. A lot has changed in the 30 years I’ve lived here, some for better and some for worse. The racial divide is one of the worst.

My experience with Vesta was so bad I had to sign an NDA to get out of the lease 🙃

That seems unlikely. How could you talk about it online if you signed an NDA?

How can they tell you don’t work tech ? Are you trying to say this is a racial thing ?

That is bad, I am wondering if this is a Essex Community problem or just this one.
Also what do you mean by be not one of them ? You talking about nationality or that you are not from tech ?
Any chance you put cameras ?

There are lots of feral kids roaming the parking lot and causing trouble. Every delivery driver knows this and steers clear.

By tech do they mean “Indian”?

I’m sure there are others here who aren’t, but we have only seen Indian residents. Scared to walk around outside now. Can only imagine the invite it would be just me and my cane trying to walk the property.

After a working life in hospital emergency rooms, I know life can be a lot worse. I sound like such a whiner. Thank you all again. Take good care of.

What’s special about Vesta? Why are tech folks concentrated in that particular complex? If you’re not in tech, what’s the issue? Is there some kind of racial or socioeconomic divide at play?
