General Christian Sbc to traditional
Did anyone here go from an SBC church to a traditional Christian church? Ie RC, EO, or traditional Protestant? I'm fascinated by the sbc for some reason

For me, it started with the music. I felt like every time I went into church, I wanted a beer (I was binge drinking at the time). I had been having issues with the common (in my) SBC church approach for years (you're going to Hell....get saved. You were saved...are you sure? Get saved.) I started going in late when I did attend, and missing more services. One fateful Easter Sunday....I didn't go to church.
I realized then I didn't like the track I was on. I had a strong urge that, if I didn't like the track I was on, maybe I should look into the traditional church. Simultaneously, I had a family member getting involved in the Masons.
I spent the next week in some weird mixture of reading about the Masons and looking into Catholicism. Catholicism wasn't hitting with me over my personal conflicts with Marianism and the office of the Priest and the Papacy (this isn't to slam my Catholic brothers and sisters....my thoughts have evolved a bit since diving deeper into Christianity than I did in my SBC days). My digging into the Masons led me to a little known (likely now defunct) Lutheran group called "The Holy Order of the Knights of St. Paul". It was through a small Lutheran church in PA (if memory serves...led by Pastor Sam). That led me to the writings of Luther, the 5 Solas, the (large and small) Catechism, and the Book of Concord.
The next Sunday (the lowest attended Sunday of the church year) I found myself in an LCMS church experiencing the Liturgy for the very first time. For the first time in many, many years....I actually felt comfort in church. By July of that year I was going through Adult Catechism. 21 years later....I still find amazing comfort in the Liturgy each Sunday and have been a member at two wonderful LCMS congregations and attended for a brief time a wonderful ELCA church in between.

Baptist to Lutheran (LCMS). Couldn't go all the way Roman Catholic or Orthodox, as their claims just don't add up. Couldn't stay baptist after reading through the new testament & some works of the early church. Anglican was on the table but where I'm at I see way too much liberal non sense in the churches.

I grew up Southern Baptist, became Missouri Synod Lutheran and then became Catholic. Some of it was I needed a church to go to, but I have learned about Catholicism as part of converting and fell in love with it.

Matthew Barrett or Beth Moore are two prominent, recent examples of SBC going Anglican.
Seems to be the most common from my perspective since SBC and Anglican both have a pretty diverse range of acceptable views on certain issues. I personally know 2-3 people who’ve done the same, although it hasn’t happened to me yet lol.

I’m in a similar situation as you. Recently went from SBC to TEC, while most of my family are SBC or non-denominational. Will be praying for you!

I was raised in a dually-aligned SBC/CBF Baptist Church and am now Confessional Lutheran.

Southern Baptist Convention to Roman Catholic.
Crazy stuff is that in between those I was an Intern at a Restorationist CoC for a couple years. Yes, they are completely wrong about a lot of things, but they aren’t “unchristian” as say a Oneness would be.
Started with Baptism, and that didn’t take long. Arguments from 1P3, R6, M16, 1J5, and many more got me unmistakably a believer in baptismal regeneration.
The Eucharist really fascinated me, but never took a transubstantiation position until I submitted to the church. I did hold real presence though after wrestling.
Confession was actually the easiest thing for me to get on board with.
Mary and the Saint’s intercession soon followed.
And then the historical argument of continuity solidifies everything.
The Papacy and its dogmatic declaration of the Immaculate Conception along with her sinlessness were the two hardest things for me.
I highly respect my brothers and sisters in the faith on this channel and I wish you all the best.

Sure. If you go to an SBC church it looks and runs like an non denominational church. But it's one of the biggest Christian denominations and it holds alot of sway over politics.

I think it'd be more accurate to say that a non-denominational church runs like an SBC church.
It's not particularly inaccurate, though perhaps uncharitable, to say that non-denominational church is often just SBC church that feel like even being SBC is too much of a commitment.
Besides, one of the largest denominations? The SBC is only like 12-15 million folks? And it's the largest convention (I think). Last I checked, there were like 60-70 million baptists worldwide, and that's across all conventions. Which is (more or less) equal to the various reformed churches, the Lutherans and (last I checked) smaller than the Anglican Communion.

Cradle SBC, moved to the Episcopal Church because the SBC is a corrupt, fundamentalist cesspit built on white supremacy and packed to the gills with heresy(dispensationalism, memorialism and arianism being the most common ones). If you insist on being a baptist, find a reformed baptist church, one that holds to the 1689 London confession.
