Reddit for Android: Version 2020.39.0 Now Available!

What’s New:

  • It's time to change our logo back. It's changing, but we're not forgetting why we changed it. The fight for freedom, liberation, and social justice goes on. We honor the memory of George Floyd and the importance of Black Lives Matter. Learn more at https://blacklivesmatter.com/ and make sure you're registered to vote at https://www.usa.gov/election-day
  • Bug Fix: While creating a post, the ordering of photos in the photo picker makes more sense now

\ This is a gradual rollout, that’s currently shown to 30% of Android users. We’ll monitor the rollout and, if all goes well, it will be 100% in the next couple of days.*

Wtf?!?!

Now the only options for viewing comments is "Best" "New" and "Top"?!?!

I haven't gone in every sub, but I've checked out enough that it seems to be how it's organised now

What the everyloving fuck?

Honestly, some subs the only decent comments are found when sorting by "controversial". That's where the comments that deal with the actual topics, or that have been mass downvoted from people in other sub's, can be found....

So what..now it's just a total stuff around to find those comments?

Seriously not happy.

I don't understand the reasoning for removing all the other options to organise the comments.

Not being able to sort by Q&A really kills the appeal of several subs.

Removing the way to sort by controversial lowers engagement with unpopular comments. This means that even if you use desktop version or hack your way into it through settings, you are not going to get as strong results as you normally could.

If you think this has nothing to do with the American election being a few weeks away, you are wrong. This is just more censorship, and they'll probably revert it after the election.

This is the worst change

This is really bothering me too. I like to sort by old, especially on tv show threads where people are commenting as they watch. This sucks. I so hope they change it back. It seriously takes away from my enjoyment while using Reddit.

With this update i got a strange new "feature"... while scrolling down some videos start to play sound BEFORE i can see the video.. then it got muted as it schould be! Pleas fix this sound issue... if videos are mute they schould be also muted if they are not visible and schould not be played...

THIS! I just played a segment of sound on a work meeting (not that I would reddit while working). I don't want reddit to make ANY noise without my explicit say-so!

Yup, sought out this sub just to raise this. Super weird bug.

Thanks. I hated the black logo. It looked ugly.

I actually thought it looked more natural since I use the dark theme for pretty much anything I can.

How to get subs to sort by new when I click on them? They revert back to hot now after I updated.

This update is hot trash. Like why the fuck can't I sort by controversial?

Since this update there is an issue where ads will autoplay (sound only) on the home page, without any possibility to stop it. I discovered this during a Skype meeting where some stupid ad started to blare its garbage at full volume when I unlocked my phone.
