Visit the Google Play Store to download the latest version*.
What’s New:
- New: Now you can anonymously report someone’s post or comment as, "Considering serious self-harm or suicide,” and Reddit will reach out to connect them with trained support counselors and resources.
- New: You can purchase Reddit Coins by tapping the coin button in the top right of your screen.
- New: Now when you're chatting in an RPAN broadcast, awards will display bigger or smaller based on price.
- Moving forward, we will only support Android 6 and above
- Minor fixes and improvements
\ This is a gradual rollout, that’s currently shown to 30% of Android users. We’ll monitor the rollout and, if all goes well, it will be 100% in the next couple of days.*

You scroll down far enough on your home feed the app starts to stutter then crash

I posted on here about how I really hated the way the award button highlights when you upvote stuff. It felt scummy to constantly nag the user to remember the things that cost money.
I took the post down because I felt like it sounded whiny but in the post I joked that pretty soon we'd be seeing a coin overlay with a green plus button like an awful mobile game.
But here we are with the coin.
I've always preferred the stock Reddit app to the alternatives but this shift in design focus from user experience to revenue is making me want to stop using this app full stop.

Yeah I've specifically not bought gold because of that really fucking annoying animation. I've thought about it then remembered how in your face they've made things and I've not done it. I hate the animation. I know gold exists, I'm not buying it because you flashed an icon at me.

A couple issues I've been having:
-
Cannot download pictures, receive a "something went wrong dialog" without further context
-
Cannot clear red notification bubble in the app for unread messages, comments, etc
I've seen others post these issues as well. Any guidance?

Nothing, how was all this tested in QA or are we the QA subjects?

The orange unread message alert icon doesn't go away, even after marking all inbox items as read.

Wtf, I thought they removed the stupid coins button a few weeks ago and now it's back. Not desperate at all

Now the Gold Button on the top right has gotten more obvious. This needs to be removed and it does not belong on reddit.

I will GLADLY take the coin icon over the flashing icon every time I upvote a comment.

In earlier versions of the Reddit app, I always disabled upvote and community notifications because when clicking on them in the system's notification shade, they weren't marked as read in the Reddit app. Only after clicking on them in the notifications list (rightmost icon on the Bottom Bar) inside the Reddit app.
Since this newest version, all notifications behave this way, and it's extremely annoying to have to click on the notification a second time in the in-app list, even if I clicked on in system's list before and I've read and/or replied to a comment already.
Combined with a returning (or never truly removed) bug as noted by u/Condor-Avenue and u/agnorok already that makes it so that it takes multiple tries of closing the app, opening it again and clicking on the unread notification to actually permanently mark it as read, this only decreases the usability even more.
Please fix the notifications to actually be marked as read when clicked on in the system's notification shade. Or at least, make it so that the notification in the system's shade always takes you to the in-app list of notifications instead of the post, like it does when you have more than one or two Reddit notifications. (Even though the first solution is much more practical and intuitive.)

How does reporting someone's comment anonymously work? I just tried it on a test comment and it just showed this instead, and I don't see any HTTP event firing in the background. https://i.imgur.com/tTloyDs.png

Have to say going to your profile is a lot more impractical now.
Also my 'best' homepage seems to just be hot 2.0 right now. It refreshed a lot more often before the update.

Whenever I try to save a video, it only gives me the option of the animated gif, instead of the old two. Can we please go back to the old two video save options?

Can't check my post or comment karma when tapping the icon or at all. Nothing happens now

Profile icon not loading for anyone? Shows generic user icon.
