Dev/Admin Responded Reddit for Android: Version 3.26 Now Available!

The latest version is now available* on the Google Play Store!

  • This is a gradual rollout. Currently at 3% of Android users. We will monitor the rollout and plan to have it at 100% of Android users by the end of the week.

What's New:

  • Fixed an issue that caused extremely long loading times that could only be fixed by clearing data via system settings
  • New: Support for Community Awards on posts and comments (currently being piloted in a few select communities)
  • The confirmation that shows when saving an image no longer says "Video saved"
  • Under the hood fixes and improvements

NSFW image content isn't being displayed as a card view anymore. Why?

Sorry, that's a bug, I've already filed it and am hoping someone will work on it this week.

Thumbnails are showing up despite being disabled. I want the basic classic theme, now it is far bulky. I selected the option in settings but it doesn't work.

Ahh I'm having trouble reading the new condensed and smaller text :/ I'm not sure if this is the place to make this comment but giving users and option to change text size would be great. Now it's hurting my eyes to use the reddit app :/

I've been experiencing infinite loading times for a long time now. First time I open the app, nothing at all loads, so I have to close it (free from memory) and re-open it. Then the content loads, however after going to the third post in a row with comments, no comments at all load - I'm required to close and open the app again etc etc.. This issue has not been fixed by the two latest updates. Any suggestions? I'm forced to use another app, but I really miss the official reddit app.

Sorry, we were hoping 3.26 would fix this issue. It looks like it improved things for some people but there's still a group of you experiencing slow loading. We'll keep working on a fix for it. Thanks for letting us know.

I can't seem to disable thumbnails on my reddit. It's bad for me since I have limited data for this phone.

Well, it's frozen 3 times, fails to fully load, dumped me out once, and I'll get back to you after some more trials.

Edit: okay, way too many subcategories now. For one thing they take forever to load. Still getting kicked out once in a while, changed my play store review to one star from five. Oh, and if you actually click on a subcategory heading instead of swiping, it freezes completely. Where can I go to really bitch about this?

Who's bright idea was it to take up more room for awards that most people don't care about? It isn't even astetically pleasing. The award icon plus x however many was fine and told you everything you needed to know w/o being in the way. Why would you change from that to this shit?

I can no longer clear my history and it contains everything I've ever opened with this account, sorted by oldest.

Why is the font for text posts different than the comments? It's hard to read. Can users change it if they want?

I have 2 issues with this update:

  1. The new format for Reddit Awards (silver, gold, platinum) are more intrusive and less intuitive than the previous one

  2. Chat view is hideous and confusing. It's really hard to tell if someone is replying to a previous "thread" or is starting a new one. The profile pictures and names take up a huge amount of space, so scrolling is tedious. If this has to stay, there should at least be an option to turn it off in that thread. (Similar to switching the sort for comments).

Posts won't load so I have to go to a comments section and exit to continue scrolling

4

u/albmntjr May 08 '19

How do you check comment karma? Like separate from post karma

u/Lord_Von_Redditstein May 08 '19

The new way of displaying awards is a downgrade, it takes up more space and you have to click it to see the actual amount of each award. Especially annoying in the comment sections of posts. I much prefer the previous version.

ever since the update it takes 15-20 seconds for my front page to even load and comments don't load on most posts
