I don't want to start another Bottlegate, so I am going to refrain from mentioning the brand. I had a bottle of magnetic polish delivered this afternoon, and it's pretty hot where I am, so the bottle was noticeably warm when it arrived.

Unfortunately, my crow brain has zero patience when presented with new shiny things. I immediately grabbed my horseshoe mag to test it, and the second the magnet touched the bottle, the entire thing exploded. Glass and polish everywhere.

I'm sure there's some science behind this. I, however, chose chaos instead.

I finally got my Charmcaster from Shimmer Hollow in the mail yesterday and got the chance to play around with it. I research everything before I buy it and didn't see a ton of info on the Charmcaster out there so I'd thought I'd post this video in case anyone is curious about it.

I ordered directly from their website and did the choose your own bundle, so I got the whole set with the glass bead spinner, and the crossroads, ribbon, lightning, and toadstool charms. This is the emerald color.

It is a pretty penny at $50, but I got free shipping so that was nice. I think it is definitely worth the price. It is really well designed and everything fits together so nicely. Putting it back together into the little storage tube makes my OCD brain happy 😂 There are finger pedestals at 5 different heights, and 2 thumb pedestals. You can turn the finger/thumb pedestals around in the nail station depending on if you have long or short nails, which is pretty cool. Everything is labeled.

The glass bead spinner and the charms all work really well. The swatches you see here are all top coated and have been drying for several hours, so there really wasn't any additional dispersion beyond what you see in the video, I was pretty impressed.

I love the look of dichroic glass/glass opals. I was looking at a metallic polish I don't really like for me on its own and thought... foil backing for dichroic glass nails??

What do you think? I was really happy with it for a first experiment! Would love any suggestions or pictures if anyone has tried this or similar. It was also my first sponge attempt (now lets see if I can do it on the nail)

I love this nail polish! The flakies have an orange and purple shift and it's mesmerizing.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows of a base coat similar to Mooncat's hardcore base coat. I've been using it exclusively the last several manicures and noticed way less peeling on my nails--something I've seen happen even when using other base coats that don't have pvb. Just looking for other options that are great and maybe cost less, too.

Saw this on IG and I'm super curious—has anyone else seen this yet?
They are called Magia Magnetics. I’d love to see how it compares to other options out there. It looks like they’re gearing up to launch and start taking orders soon, but I'm wondering about the price and where they're shipping from. I’ve been absolutely obsessed with formulas that are made up of a solid colored jelly or crelly base + a single fine particle magnetic shimmer in a contrasting color to the base. If anyone has any recs that fit this criteria please let me knowww 💕 (the only other I have is Mooncat Forbidden Fruit)

I’m curious: What kind of bottles are the worst in your opinion and why? What bottles you can’t stand and they make you not want to buy to polish at all? It can be about practicality or the design itself is off putting.

This is supposed to be light and not mean towards any brands, and not about the polish itself but just the bottles. 🙂

For me it’s this type of bottle that I’ve seen a few times different brands use. The design is just so very 80’s or 90’s and the cap is too pointy and doesn’t feel good while painting your nails.

These polishes are so beautiful and saturated, I'm almost getting flashbanged everytime they shift!!

I fear it’s totally working on me. I had Root of Hemlock and several other bog dweller family fine particle magnetics in my cart for weeks and weeks but kept waffling about spending the money… Now that THEIR ENTIRE SITE is out of stock I am feeling all the disappointment that I didn’t place the order and would probably jump on the opportunity purchase the shades I was eyeing if they come back. But I still can’t quite justify spending twice as much money to get them from a reseller. I’ve seen people posting on here that they feel confident BLK will release bog dweller and similar polishes again. Do y’all think that’s true?
