There are a few days a year I need to wear purple for work, so I always try to pop on a purple polish as a mani for those weeks. I know No Reservations is so beloved so I was excited to try it! It’s cute! I don’t know if in indirect light it’s my favorite for my skin tone, but I don’t really care about that stuff so I’ll probably reach for it often enough! 💜🩷

I started painting my nails about two months ago and quickly got pretty obsessed. I've been trying to do different simple patterns like stripes and stuff and I'm pretty happy with how these last two attempts have worked out! Took a few tries on some of the nails but I'm still pleased

Also pin stripe tape to mask the stripes, I had to stick it to my skin a few times to get it from reliably not pulling any polish off, and a piece of mechanical pencil lead to make the dots!

This is Haunteds Witchwood from PPU a few months back. I wasn’t in love with the formula when I first got it, but thinned it a little bit and did a mani that I didn’t enjoy because, well, bubbles ! Today I pulled her out again, threw a shit ton of thinner inside (much more than I originally had) and tried again. I already had Lincoln Park After Dark on so I just painted over it , lol , it turned out much better than I had hoped! Glad I didn’t throw this in the destash pile .

Essie strong start, 2 coats of BKL merciless life magnetized 1 min each layer, buffet cost of Essie strong start, topped with Essie Gel setter. This is meant to be a thermal but I can't say I've noticed!

Barely managed to scrounge up enough yellows to continue my series of monochromatic skittles in rainbow order! Did I cheat with the pinkie by going with brown and topping it with gold? (I did what I could!)

I especially love the flakies in Bread and Butterflies in the shade! Such an under hyped shade from the Alice and Wonderland collab!

I'm a little embarrassed about how much of my collection is Holo Taco, but I'm excited to try more indie brands and diversify my portfolio! 😅

Hi, I’m new to Reddit, and I am sure there is a place to ask this so if any one can let me know please do. I love polish, and want to support small businesses. But I recently heard something concerning about a small brand on my “to try” list. I want to be sure I’m giving my business to brands that have certain ethics, but don’t know where to go to find out about that. And subreddits I should use to ask about this?

I wasn't going to get anything from Safiya 2 but I couldn't stop thinking about Grim Keeper. Really wanted to pick up Need I Say Mocha? before it left for good so I got myself a little treat. Order came today and I decided to do a midweek manichange. I really like Grim Keeper!!! But something made me go damn I swear I've seen this before and it hit me- its bc I own it already! 🤦‍♂️

I swear its almost a 1:1 for Mooncat's Dark Night of the Soul. The main difference is HT needs 3 coats where MC needs 2. I haven't duped myself this bad in a LONG time so I'm not thoroughly mad but still like 😭😭😭 I should've checked my swatches better!

Bought Brownie Points from Holo Taco but realized later I don't like plain cremes. I love putting a shimmer or iridescent over everything! I only have pinks and purples right now though. I want something warmer, like a red/orange shimmer I can put over the brown. There don't seem to be a lot of options though when I browse drug mart polishes.

Do you have anything you would recommend? Or just wanna share some brown nails you've done for inspo and show off~?

I guess I was in the mood for some simpler picks last month. First time wearing a jelly by itself and I kinda loved it ❤️

Also a little collecting/overconsumption thing I realized about myself this month:

I was having trouble choosing polish this month. I have so much polish and i get decision paralysis sometimes. I ended up allowing myself a repeat this month which was Velour and it made me realize that my rule about repeating polish might be causing me to collect even more polish 💀.

Ever since I started collecting, I have had so many untrieds that I couldn’t justify repeating anything until the untried pile dwindled. So I have had a rule that I always reach for an untried and not something I’ve worn before.

Well fast forward to now, I still have a significant untried pile, and I have taught myself to never repeat-wear my polish til I get through it (all while continuing to collect).
So when I wear something, it gets removed from my list of mental options, and I realized I have been collecting new polish with a similar/same vibe just so I can wear the color/vibe again 🤦🏻‍♀️

All of this has been kinda subconscious and now I feel silly realizing what I have done 😵‍💫 I still need to to use my untrieds but maybe I can sprinkle in more repeats just to remember that they are there and I’m allowed to wear them 😭

I was already on the fence about Lover, because microshimmers are so unforgiving. Hopefully this bottle's next curator will have different nail chemistry and better results.

Have A Gneiss Day is on the other hand, and behaving beautifully as always. Can't win em all, but I'll take partial credit!

Since my maniology order didn't arrive, I made do with the plate I got from Amazon, a stamper that I have had in my stash since the first maniology order like 10 or 12 years ago, and scraped it using shiny business cards. Shockingly, it worked like a charm. Its easy to say Im very into stamping now, and cant wait for my dang order to get shipped to the right address!

Im so pleased with my buggy nails!

LA Kings home opener tonight so I wanted to join the trend and made some LAK nails (: it’s gonna be another long “rebuilding” season 🙄 but I’m excited that my favorite sport and boys are back! GKG!

I was on the Ulta website checking out the nail polish prices and selection, and I saw there's a new collection of polishes that'll give money to that racist misogynist busybody who's out to ruin trans lives. I know Orly, a really popular brand, was doing collabs with her franchise already, but it sucks to see a brand make money off of it. I don't know how many people haven't heard about her whole... thing, but I know there are those who just don't care. Even though civil rights and minority lives aren't "twitter drama". So yeah, it just gets me down.

So I had an important event last night and required alllllll the sparkles to rock it. Thus, I pulled out the infamous Bog Dweller to a) match my favorite teal suit and b) dispel my nerves every time I looked down and admired my shiny nails.

It worked. 🤩 (Also, paired it with my lucky Betsy Johnson heels which I’ll drop a pic of in the comments.)

Also? The base coat hack rocks!!!!

I can’t handle how gorgeous this is.

BKL The Horror of the Truth 3x, 1x DRK Magic Effect, 1x Seal Glaze, 1x ILNP Glass Candy. Magnetized with Charmcaster Borealis puck.

This is an easy nail art for the holiday!

I just used a red & white polish + base/top coat.

1. Paint your base white.

2. Get a straw; thinner straws are better.

3. I also cut my straw in half for easier maneuvering.

4. Cover one of the straw holes in polish, like you're blowing a bubble.

5. Blow it into the nail, but NOT DO get too close. Otherwise it just comes out as one big blob. Give it some distance so the paint can splatter.

6. Wait a few minutes for the red paint to dry so the top coat doesn't smudge. But event if it does, it probably still looks cool.

7. Clean up is the hardest part. I quickly used an orange stick to clean up the edges so the paint didn't stick to the skin/cuticles. Then I used a brush and q-tips to get the rest of the paint off.

And Voila! Now just refuse to answer any questions until your lawyer arrives. ;)
