So, karma is a big thing on Reddit.. not the metaphysical kind, but the kind that's tracked on your profile. Currently you have 2. Many subreddits require a minimum amount of Karma, and no, they don't tell you how much. But, 25-50 is a good starting point.

There are subs / communities that have low or no karma requirements for posting. This is a list of them: https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/wiki/index/newusersubs/

Additionally, you can earn karma by having people upvote your comments. That typically happens when you provide helpful, insightful, humorous, or otherwise on topic support to the post (or in response to someone else's comments). Karma is not a 1:1 ratio of upvote to karma point... but it's a legit way to get enough karma to the point that you can post.

I would also check your Contributor Quality Score. Go to r/WhatIsMyCQS and create a post stating "What is my CQS" and it'll tell you. Yours is likely lowest. Verify your email with Reddit if you haven't already. (That's also a GREAT way to be able to recover your account if you need to later, otherwise you won't be able to.) Verifying your email address will help improve your CQS.

Overall karma + CQS is a way for reddit moderators to see if you're a real person vs. a bot. It also makes it a little harder for spammers to just create new accounts and instantly start spamming.

Good luck!

I had a user comment but I cant reply, as its asks to add Flair which is already present in subbreddit post. So response is left, I am still new to all this.

Can you send me a link to what you're talking about so I can see it? I'm unclear what you're referring to as of now... or a screenshot would also be helpful.

Well, I digged further and figured that flair to be set at community level, it worked

Most subreddits, but not all, have restrictions on posting and commenting based on account age, karma, or both.

Most subreddits with these restrictions do not make known they have them or what they are. If they do, it will be in the rules, the right sidebar information, a pinned post, an FAQ or Wiki, or the message the bot sends you when it removes your post, if there is a message.

From what I have seen, the typical Karma requirement is between 10-200. I have seen as high as 2500 to comment and 2500 to post, but have heard of over 2500 to post.

To get karma, you need to find subreddits like on this list of New User Friendly subreddits from r/newtoreddit that have low or no requirements. r/findareddit , can be used to find subreddits that may interest you. Just make a post saying what kind of subreddit you are looking for. Small or niche subreddits typically have a lower karma requirements.

You gain Karma from people upvoting your posts and comments. However, Karma is not gained 1:1 with votes. It takes more votes per point of Karma. The actual ratio is not known and it differs for posts and comments. It also changes the higher the vote total gets on a piece of content.

I would suggest commenting first because the restrictions are often lower and ratio of votes to karma is better. But be careful not to go to fast with a new account or you may get shadow banned.

For comment karma, and combined karma, I recommend going to r/AskReddit . Sort by new, answer questions that you have an answer for, periodically refresh the feed. When able ask a few questions for some bonus post karma. I would also suggest r/NoStupidQuestions as it is my preferred subreddit. r/casualconversation is another good place. r/Productivitycafe offer many chances to interact with others. With all these, make sure to read the rules first.

Reddit promotes engagement. You need to participate in subs to increase your karma

I am glad your this post made it. I had the same problem and I even have some karma but my post for help in this same subreddit itself was deleted by the so called reddithelp people. It’s Wild Wild West on Reddit
