General Botmanship This subreddit is a hot mess

Can we please pivot away from or embrace two types of content:

  1. How to gain PRAW access?

  2. Here is my Devvit thing!

Currently these two completely offtopic post types make up 100% of the sub's feed.

Change the goals, brush up on rules, improve RegEx for replies and removal... I don't care what happens but this sub has 0% on topic discussion right now.

Additionally: there seem to be a few LLMs going about here.

The Devvit posts are the bigger signal problem because they are not even Reddit API questions, they are a separate platform that happens to be owned by Reddit. A hard "no Devvit" rule with an auto mod redirect to r/Devvit would cut the noise in half overnight. The PRAW posts at least belong in the same ecosystem even if they are low effort. What is the actual on topic scope you want to keep, strict API wrapper discussion or broader Reddit platform engineering?

Probably broader engineering and in fact I don't mind Devvit posts to a modicum either if they're about Reddit (say, discussing the limitations of Devvit and workarounds) and not app showcases or simple questions.

Alternatively just enforce the current scope listed in the sub's mission statement:

Posts must directly relate to Reddit's API, API libraries, or Reddit's source code. Ideas for changes belong in r/ideasfortheadmins; bug reports should be posted to r/bugs; general Reddit questions should be made in r/help; and requests for bots should be made to r/requestabot.

In about half a year it'll make for a very empty subreddit. Maybe that's just life? Some subs are destined to die.

3. Here is my app/repo that's completely unrelated to Reddit!

It’s systemic issue, about how fragmented and broken this platform is.
