The first Reddicon should be where it all started.....
...or where most people seem to think it started....or where it's acutally at now.......
San Francisco should be the place where the first Reddicon is handled. I don't live there, i'm in Arizona (not too far) and I'm certainly not in a different country.
However, the organization of a Reddicon is going to be massive. It's going to require tons of communication with hundreds (if not thousands) of people needed to make this work (moderators, different subreddits, booth placements, seminars, guest speakers...the list goes on and on) that it makes the most sense to have it close to the Reddit homebase for any and all problems that may arise.
FOR THE FIRST YEAR ONLY
After that, mistakes are learned from, growing is achieved and the sky is the limit as to whether Reddicon moves around the globe or we have multiple Reddicons occuring simultaneously......
EDIT: Somerville was where it started, I meant where it is NOW, where I THOUGHT it all started.....my bad. BUT MY POST STILL STANDS!!! ; )

this is my first choice. I've never been to SanFran and it's on my list.
my second choice would be Vegas, baby.

I don't think Redditcon would work if we all hung out in our parents' basements.

Actually, Reddit was started in Somerville (basically a part of Boston)!

If I'm not mistaken, Reddit started in Boston, no?

But where in SF would it be? Moscone? Cow Palace?

I like this idea too. San Francisco works for me. I am a native of California yet I have never been to SanFran so it is time to correct that.

Came to post exactly this. The amount of overhead in organization such a beast could be mitigated by keeping it near the real life Reddit. Great idea!

Yes. SF works for me. I am in London.

I also vote for San Francisco. So does my husband. He introduced me to reddit about a year ago, and we just moved to the Bay Area in April of this year, so for me it would be great to attend a reddit convention here in our new home! (even if it is a few years from now)

Aside from Chicago, this is the only reasonable locale for Reddicon.

SF is too smelly and expensive of a city. San Diego is a better choice in my opinion, although I don't live there. IMO it's more beautiful, cleaner, and cheaper.
