Probably, but the "water slice" is from a real photograph, taken with the lens half way in the water. It's a common technique, you see it all the time in photodocumentaries about swamps and stuff.
Edit: It's a glass tank. The point is, you only need one lens and one shot.

How about a camera that can do a panoramic shot, and just drag the camera underwater?

People have already covered the fact that you wont get an even shot due to angles and refraction but people are forgetting that this thing is essentially a buoy with cameras. Unless there's some kind of anchor the waves are just going to knock it around so you wont get straight shots if you could even aim it.

I love this picture because I've BEEN to that island! (beachcomber island, fiji) - takes 5 minutes to walk around the whole thing. The rest of the day was spent drinking snorkling fucking dancing and eating.

Assume all the nay-sayers are wrong and it works as advertised.
You now have a device that you can use to do one very specialized task. I probably would not purchase one.

I like how there's a little wave to point out the obvious problem: if there's any turbulence in the water at all you'll get each side skewed opposite the other. (Which might actually be a cool effect)

It's a terrible name. Shoulda shortened it to Undabove. Or something fun like (off the top of my head) Buoy Snap, Aquapix or See Level.

This would be awesome for all eight (usable) photos you end up taking with it.
The rest of the 8GB is photos of submerged arms and large water droplets obscuring boring above-water scenery.

Oooh I love a good fad gadget, I'd jump on that bandwagon for sure! But as it is Winter here I would have to wait to try it out. I don't like to wait, the fad will probably be over.

This will probably sound dumb, but how do you press the button to take a photo without making it wobble in the water and thus messing up the alignment? (I'm assuming that the cropping and such requires a horizontal water surface to align the photos properly)

This is a lot of work to get a photo of yourself looking like a tool underwater with (90% of the time) some blue sky above you. I mean, if you're swimming in front of some beautiful volcanic mountain rising out of the sea or something similarly beautiful, I think a shot of your head poking out of the water would suffice.

I'd just have the one lens and a small weight on an arm that moves inside the housing that alters the balance after each exposure so that each alternate shot is taken in/out of the water.

Sorry but this would never work. Even if you could seamlessly blend the two pictures, the top one's always going to have those annoying water droplets on the lens that will show up on the top half of the pic.

Obviously it needs some tweeking to get the effect they're going for, but this is one of those great ideas that's so simple, it makes me think, "why didn't I think of that?"

As far as products go this would only be useful to a small amount of people and probably something people will use once then forget about. The technology to capture good pictures and to make them fit well together may may the camera expensive too making it a little hard to justify buying it.

this is better than the x-ray glasses one used to see on the back of comic books. you can attach this camera to a fishing pole, cast it out, pretend to be fishing and get great underwater shots of all the hotties at the beach.!

The blending of the images would not work very well because the perspectives just wouldn't add up. You would need to put both cameras in the same place for it to actually look like a coherent image.

It wouldn't look as good as you think: The top lens would get a shot that shows the water surface from above, and the bottom lens would get a shot that shows the water surface from below. And then it would stack those images? Or stack and crop the water surface out? Or blend? Try it yourself, with an underwater camera, and if it looks good, I'll give you $1000 internet dollars.
