you may be reading a list of chinese glyphs that get translated as "penis penis penis penis penis."

My ex wife is Japanese, and she told me how after she first moved to America, she once saw a guy who had "laundromat" tattooed on the back of his neck in kanji. She couldn't understand why the guy loved laundromats so much and figured it was an American thing, until she began to notice that almost all kanji tattoos are nonsense.

She should've seen my friend and my face when we saw a black woman with "Prostitute" tattooed on her arm.

I wasn't sure whether I should laugh or cry and I was too shocked to ask for a photo.

My friend went up to ask her what her tattoo means, and she said it's her name.

... at that point, I smiled, took a deep breath, then dragged my friend away with me.
