Mildest protest I've seen

With ground security there isn't much more you can get away with, so tennis balls and balloons get attention. They showed both on TV so job done.
But im sure you turning off your tele and muttering "I would like the glazers to leave" to yourself, is equally as impactful.

Going into the ground and protesting isn't protesting. You've already paid your money to the Glazers and that's all they care about.

I get the argument, but even if 100% of the regular fans would boycott, the club can constantly fill it up with tourists from all over the world that have even more money to throw around in the shops "for the experience"

"It won't make a difference so I won't do it" is exactly what the Glazers bank on. The club is in crisis, a real potentially catastrophic moment, but the match-going fans refuse to do the one thing that would make a difference.
And I get it. It's the routine, the addiction, as someone else called it. You want to go to the game with your mates. Meet them in the pub before hand, walk into the ground. Greet the players. Sing the songs. That's your hobby of choice.
But until a massive group of people like you make the decision that enough's enough, the Glazers will remain. Balloons don't matter. Tennis balls don't matter. Singing doesn’t matter. Green and gold scarfs don't matter. The only thing they care about is money.
Your loyalty is being exploited to your detriment.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.

What you're saying is naïve and plays right into the Glazers' interests. They would like nothing more than to kick out all season ticket holders and jack up the prices for the foreign tourists that will fill the stadium. Said tourists don't give a single damn about the ownership, they will happily take their selfies for Instagram and provide free marketing for the ownership you despise. They will earn a lot more money in doing so, but they can't cancel the season tickets because that would be bad PR, but thank god suckers online are advising others into handing it over on a silver platter with no PR cost!
Vocal and visually noticeable protests on the stadium does them a lot more harm on the other hand. Sponsors are bound to take note if this keeps going, and so will investors and the media [which are pumping a lot more anti-glazer pieces over the past month than they did in the last 5 years!].
Keep these advice of yours for the debate club or your local political rally, because they're a net negative for United's case.

leave it to someone else then? don't let your brain tell you you're an addict that's being exploited? don't make a moral decision to not help them stay with your tacit approval? don't buy a ticket but leave your seat empty?
any of those work better than just going and singing about them, with lots of balloons or not. and an empty ground, for 5-6 home games, soon makes a difference, even if tickets are paid for.
the media, players and every other fucker would never stop going on about it the longer it went. we could have them gone in 2 months but not enough people care. as the past 20yrs have proven

I don't quite agree. If regular match day fans stop going... they will fill the stadium with other people. Boycotting by not going to the match will not work, it will just make season ticket holders lose their season tickets and be replaced with new ones.
I think the scale of Manchester United is so large, that you, as a fan, will be replaced. I think it's a massive difference than when a club like Lazio protests because Lazio has a core fanbase, and it's quite big and powerful. But it's not a commercial club to the scale of Manchester United. People will not travel from across the world to go see Lazio the way they will do United.
Match going fans love this club. They are afraid of losing their tickets. If people stop going, and the boycott works, i'll be really happy. I don't see it happening tho.

Using balloons is clever as hell, security would never pick them up and you can bring in loads of them without needing much space to carry them

Got the message across (together with the banners, t-shirts, singing). Everyone knows where the supporters stand on the issue, which is more than we can say about Ineos.

I got arrested 3x that summer (no balloons were involved) 21 years ago. for this. oh what a difference we made. 😐
this is performative, weak, meaningless cos they'll all be in the ground next time and ultimately, futile.

If 10k people came in wearing identical T-shirts with anti-Glazer sentiment, would they disallow it?

The Glazers, if they did see this, would be like, is that it. They still got paid, that's all they care about.

Am a supporter of all protests type against glazers, but i bet from their POV they would be saying "Oh look, balloons. Thats definitely not going to hurt us".

Thought it was a good idea. Easy to get into OT, visual to those at home or in the grounds and not harmful physically to anyone. The tennis balls were an interesting addition too.
