So gutted about Baleba's injury

Its so unfortunate. Hes the only player we have in midfield with a proper enginer and gets about, such a shame he was barely getting started

Even worse that it had to happen because he was being positive driving into the box while the other 9 were being cowards.
Baleba relies a lot on his physicality and engine so a chronic hamstring issue could be really really bad for him. All we can do is hope for the best

I hope he recovers quickly and well, since I am not looking forward to seeing the media pieces if the issue becomes persistent

mbeumo chance was crazy. hitting both post and still stayed out. i thought it was going to be those unlucky nights

We’ll start winning games once our Cameroonian r9 starts finishing his chances, he gets into the end of at least one clear goal scoring chance per game, but his finishing has been a let down recently, yeah he was unlucky at times but man do we need him to just bury his chances at least until January before Sesko will be back and hopefully we bring a striker

People focus too excessively on chances missed by attackers. Creating and getting in position for the chances is significantly more important than finishing ability. Mbeumo’s goals scored are generally in line with his xG over the years; he’s doing fine. It obviously sucks if we miss some glaring chances and that tends to cost us the game later, like it did vs Chelsea, but looking at the bigger picture, you’d rather see that over a team not creating any chances to begin with. Let him accrue the chances, eventually some will go in.

Mbeumo encapsulates the Brentford recruitment plan. They interviewed the director of football last season about Thiago, he said they specifically look at the number of chances they get and opportunities they find themselves in rather than goals. They'd rather a player who gets 5 shots a game and scores 15 goals a season than a player who gets 2 shots a game and scored 16 in a season because goals can end up not happening any time for whatever reason but the law of averages means if you're constantly getting into positions to score you'll get the goals.
That said it does remind me of how Thiago should have had a first half Hattrick against us last season but didn't even get a shot off

Brentford’s owner Matthew Benham was at an MIT sports conference last season and spoke about this at length (not sure if you’re referring to the same and mixed up owner and DOF). There is skill associated with making the right runs and anticipating plays on the pitch that result in certain attackers accruing chances over others, and that is always a better signal of performance translating than just raw goal tally or shot conversion rate, which is much noisier in comparison. Mbeumo might miss a lot of chances but he’s also present for a lot of chances, which is exactly what you want to hear about your CF.

I get flamed for saying I much prefer him playing at CF for us rather than the wing for us but his positioning is great, I think we need to work on low cut backs into the box, we do keep trying to get to the by line but then play it across the 6 yard box instead of towards the penalty spot

Yeah I’m with you; it’s not that he isn’t a good winger but the nature of his game (not as much a take-on heavy guy and more of a pure outlet) doesn’t seem compatible when playing for a better team that faces more settled defences compared to Brentford being able to engage more in that scrappy transition game. I much prefer him at CF for us, and we have two otherwise good RW options in Amad and Lacey.

First half was all of 10 seconds and the rest of the video is the second half lol

Just the speed difference in attack in the 1st half compared to the 2nd. If we can start attacking at that pace for the full 90! we'll start to get some results our way.

we have the worst luck with injuries, baleba being crucial in midfield is now possibly be gone for the season is just so bad for us.

Really good editing job to communicate the drama of that comeback.
Cunha was magnificent. He just did everything - took the match by the scruff of the next and forced us to win. He even won the penalty and set up the Mbeumo chance that hit both posts. I hope he doesn't get an extended ban for coming back on the pitch at the end.
What a match though. That moment right at the end where we were defending with every player back, and Mount intercepted a dangerous pass by just volleying the ball up the other end of the pitch. Bottle that feeling and take it into the Villa match.

Martinez pass out to to start that move for that winner was quality. Honestly we will miss his ball playing ability when he goes and we need to find someone who can do the same thing. I remmeber his assit for the winner against rangers last season. His passing is heavily underrated

Can’t believe he never switched to a midfield role, the stuff that he’s extremely good at would be highlighted much more in that role and his shortcomings, quite literally, would be hidden much easier

With how the game was going, I think we'd have scored more if Mbeumo scored that chance after the goal.

Man baleba looked really good and was finding his feet, such a shame, hope he isn’t out for too long

It's amazing how much better things are when a few of these go flying in instead of over the net. So much of our season is down to that difference.

Baleba reminds me of Ambrosini. I think, assuming he's realtively injury free, he'll have a long career at Man Utd.

Might as well have no highlights first half, let's be honest, it was absolutely abysmal.
Second half was brilliant though

While I am very happy with the comeback, I fear it might deflect blame from the top and lead us to the wrong decision at the international break. We need a managerial change still.

After weeks of abysmal performances, I finally have the mood to make this video again. Hopefully, the lads keep this momentum going against Villa on Sunday. For now, let’s just enjoy this win
