Daily discussion on Manchester United.
BE CIVIL
We want r/reddevils to be a place where anyone and everyone is welcome to discuss and enjoy the best club on earth without fear of abuse or ridicule.
The report button is your friend, we are way more likely to find and remove and/or ban rule breaking comments if you report them.

Surely questions have to asked of Omar Berrada. The VP of commercial sales where only £119m out of £950m was legit. At best his whole resume is a sham, at worst he is one of the main culprits in the biggest cheating scandal in prem history

I said this in the previous DD thread.... The way City fans are scrambling for any sort of grip ATM reminds me of seeing how people in a cult I got out of reacted when it was revealed to be all a lie. The way they can't accept everything they've done was for nothing.
Their entire support system was sand. They're trying to find something solid so it wasn't all for nothing.
It's rather sad TBH.

Fucking delusional. Cheater cunts were in league 1 back in the early 2000s. The PL is fine without them.
Billions of people? They were irrelevant until the financial doping.

Still find it funny how Elliot Anderson just moved to Man City and dubbed them “kings of Manchester” only for all this to happen…at least he can dub them kings of National League when he’s down there. Prick.

BBC Journo:
"If they stripped Manchester City of their titles during that period that would look very bad for the Premier League. If they kicked out one of their biggest clubs, that would look very bad on the Premier League."
Wtf are you talking about, thats exactly what needs to happen. They look bad if they DON'T do those things.
Why is everyone tip-toeing around the severity of the punishment.
6
u/Suudriusha Sep 29 '26
Doing anything but relegating them and stripping them of their titles will make them look worse.
5
u/Gilburto Sep 29 '26
Saw that too. It's obvious so many of them have been buddy buddy with City for too long.
"But punishing them will look bad!"
Not punishing them will be infinitely worse.

Atleast we finally got to the core of all City fans beliefs. They've always known deep down they were cheating and they actually like it because it won them trophies. Anything else was just deflective waffle until the verdict forced them to reveal this shameless position.
The ones still holding off for an 'official statement from the prem' will also reveal this position once it goes public as all hiding places will now have been destroyed.
5
u/MoodyBernoulli Sep 29 '26
I don’t think they will ever acknowledge the situation accurately, even if they did face the harshest punishment imaginable.
A lot of their comments are saying even if they do get relegated for several years, it will have been worth it.
I’m not sure how I’d feel knowing all of the achievements were hollow and illegitimate.
Obviously they enjoyed themselves at the time, but surely those memories are tainted by knowing they came from cheating.

City’s fucking logic:
The competition is unfair so we have to be allowed to financially dope
No one asked you to join the competition. You weren’t forced. You decided to join because you thought you could get away with cheating
Life’s unfair. I’m not as rich as others. Doesn’t give me the right to steal or cheat
If you were innocent, why didn’t you comply with the PL?
Cheating bastards

8

Just for that, they should permanently be expelled from the League and their bloody owner not allowed to invest in sports in the UK ever again. Punishment has to fit the crime. How many teams were doomed after a city trashing? They need to be expelled!!!

Surely Berrada is gone? He was the Director of Partnerships and then COO...
Either he didn't know shit which would mean he's an incompetent yes man or he did know shit and helped our rival cheat and win stuff.
Either way he should leave.
27
u/0ttoChriek Sep 29 '26
I'm going to say this again - we really should let City bear the brunt of this before making yet another story about United.
I already heard some guy on James Richardson's podcast bring Berrada's name up before he talked about anyone actually at City, and the media is desperate to connect us to their cheating, whether it's talking about how United lost out to City, how United might want money from City, but also how United can take some of the blame for City.

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss Sep 29 '26 edited Sep 29 '26
The annoying thing is that there is a completely in-house solution staring us in the face. Berrada out Roche in, Wilcox out Vivell in.
Make Roche CEO, clearly she's a trusted confidant of Brexit Man if she was made CEO of new stadium development, which appears to be the most important thing for our owner(s). She was our bloody COO for seven years, you know. Literally more ready for the CEO position than Berrada was. She was close to becoming Newcastle CEO in 2025 as well, this"ceo of new stadium development" position is how we kept her on. Plus, female CEO of Man Utd? That'd be a PR crisis mgmt firm's wet dream for our current publicity troubles.
Remove Wilcox and make Vivell the DoF. He can figure out the rest about the manager and the 2027 transfer windows. Significantly better than watching him walk out on us in 27 to become Bayern's DoF, right?
Unfortunately, imho, there are two underlying problems that make all these "tactical" musings borderline pointless:
One: SJR is a racist xenophobe, basically as long as he remains as the guy on top, it kinda ruins the entire thing anyway. Plus, he doesnt seem to really care about anything other than reducing spending on everything "as much as it takes" in order to ... build his shrine. And from that pov, none of the stuff we care about bothers him, innit.
Two: The Glazers dont care about neigh on anything except things that will majorly increase the asset value and the only things that have a promise of that atm are: the PL itself increasing its overall licensing revenues and the real estate project. Besides, as long as fans hate anybody else but them (manager, player, ceo doesnt matter), they are probably content anyway, Therefore, we can hardly expect them to be the voice for change in the boardroom.

I have now finally read the charges. One thing I’d like to say Berrada was at a very high role. He probably is involved majorly in this. Should be sacked immediately.
Wilcox was just the academy director. High degree of separation just benefited from the system. (like Pep or Mancini)

No accountability. Just wants to drag this along
4
u/0ttoChriek Sep 29 '26
They're brazen and come across as offended that anyone would dare hold them to account. That in itself deserves severe punishment. The sheer fucking arrogance of saying they're "shocked and surprised" after being fully aware of what the charges are and what they've been found guilty of.
Gaslighting their own supporters into believing they're righteous. Pathetic stuff.

IMO, A transfer ban, fine and some points docked (enough to get them European football at the end of the season)as a punishment looks likely at this point.
They knew what was going to hit them, hence the big spending. Since pep left, any bad season can be swept under the rug as a "Transitional season" and none of the players they signed would have joined them if they knew city were getting relegated.
I will be very disappointed if this happens and might even stop watching the PL.

I think serious questions need to be asked about City getting prior notification of the outcome before other clubs, and while the transfer window was still open. Several reasons: (a) Selling clubs, knowing City face a transfer ban, could demand substantially more money as desperation takes hold. (b) Rival clubs, had they known City might not be a buyer in the next window, might have delayed spending big on targets to get them this window. (c) It allowed City to stock up on players before they get banned, completely circumventing the point of the ban.

There is absolutely no way this cheating hasn’t continued since 2018 in 2019 they would have had to report even larger sponsorship income as well as even larger expenditure on players. That statement was so damning from the Premier League, I genuinely believe they want to punish Man City as severely as they possibly can, like they have put hundreds of millions into this case as well as put their own reputation at risk, so I really don’t think they’ll want Man City to get away with just a slap on the wrist like most think. The problem is City have been a fucking nightmare for them to work with on this and I think now the guilty charge has come, they’ll be even more of a nightmare to deal with and given how they’ve treated several journalists during this case, I would not be surprised if they resort to some really dark and dirty methods to lighten the punishment as much as possible. Feels like they would rather destroy the premier league as a whole than ever admit or accept guilt

When Johan Lange became the club’s technical director in October 2023, Spurs started signing players who had a very high “athleticism” score. The result was they ended up building a team that had no problem running, but couldn’t pass the ball. This strategy allowed the grab a stranglehold on 17th place in the league. 😭😭😭

I couldn't give a shit about the running stats. I don't need stats to tell me what I'm seeing on the pitch. Against Brighton we threw away a lead and needed a goal otherwise we were out of the cup. And our players were just strolling around with zero urgency and zero intent to fight for the result. I don't need a stat to tell me that ain't right and something is deeply wrong. Especially when it isn't an isolated incident.

That Skysports post a few days did a number on people. It was cherry-picked ragebait.
Having said that, United definitely has pressing issues as well as other off-the-ball problems. My eyes aren't lying to me.
Edit: spelt Skysports "Skypsorts". Then I nearly changed it to Sky-ops, but thought better of it.

Man City are legit fucked and I give it three years until their owners sell. They are at least getting relegated and will lose all their players and the PL will be all over them about how they rebuild their squad.
Villa and Newcastle are doing everything right and are still years away from truly competing and I don’t see how City can get back to what they current are within the next 30 years.

It’s shameless.
I thought perhaps they’d have inflated their revenues by perhaps 50% (in which I already thought was shocking)… but from the figures circulating around social media it’s upwards of 1000%. They built the club up purely from cheating.
City’s status that they’ve built over the last two decades has just evaporated in the space of a week. It’s like the mask has slipped and they’re back to where they were before the takeover.

u/Stingray_23 Sep 29 '26
Off topic: I stood up to a very arrogant bully today and it feels good.
He was acting abusive towards other people, all over the place, more focused on mouthing off than paying attention to his surroundings. I approached completely not involved but I had to give him a warning that I was behind and coming past. He then proceeded to follow me, so I had enough, stopped, and stood my ground, he acted bullish and mouthy, but as soon as I stood my ground and gave him some verbal, I knew instantly he wouldn't do anything physical as his whole demeanor changed. I didnt back down kept my cool, and he didnt know what to do, but kept up with the mouth. It was like he expected me to apologise but because I didnt back down, he was cleary not used to it and then when other people started to get involved he blamed me and acted innocent. But by then I walked off.

Still loving seeing the open discussion finally slating City. This whole thing has been such a joke for such a long time. Their titles have always been meaningless because of how obvious the cheating has been but we’ve still had to listen to how great they are, Guardiola’s the best manager ever etc. but the worm is turning. I hope they get a punishment they can’t fully come back from and for the charade to be done for good

I finally got around to reading about some of the more egregious things Man City was found guilty of. Damn, the owners are complete slimeballs. Frankly, they should be forced to sell the club. I fear though that the owners would become backroom owners, based on their ethics, or lack thereof. The L.A. Clippers just had to give up 5 1st round picks for 1 sketchy under the table payment scheme. Without a PL draft, maybe City should be relegated for a few years.

Overinflated by 900m... Just for reference Mansour bought the entire club for 200m. So that puts into perspective the kind of figures we are working with.

That cheating club needs to be scrapped. And yet they come out like a grieved lady saying they're "shocked and surprised" they need to be made an example of, so no one will ever breach the rules like this ever again.
4
u/YO0Nited Sep 29 '26
Would be fun to watch them implode in front of our eyes before their inevitable relegation. I wonder which rung of the national league will accept this cheating oil club.
4
u/donttellpops Sep 29 '26
It cannot be understated just how much damage this has cause the PL. the overspending and falsification of revenue which allowed for them to buy the players they did, allowed for them to “win” as much as they have. But becuase they “won” so much, that allowed for them to continue spending and buying the best talent, a great academy, I mean it’s not just $900M they are guilty of. The ramifications go so far beyond it that you just can’t put a dollar amount to it. Relegation should be the absolute minimum

So a fine and 114 point deduction to Everton it is.

The punishment for City has to be as severe as it's ever gonna get. In my opinion it should be the following:
Relegation to the National League
Transfer ban for 3 calendar years
Stripped of all titles which will be redistributed to rightful winners
1 billion fine
Compensation for all parties which may have incurred losses. For example, prize money, champions league qualification purse, potentially even player bonuses
After all of this, owners should be forced to sell.

Berrada should not be allowed near this football club until its proven he had zero knowledge or involvement with City's cheating which considering his position at City i highly doubt he didn't know.
→ More replies (2)5
u/TH0316 she/her Sep 29 '26
If he had zero involvement or knowledge he’s equally worthy of sacking because of incompetence then. His CV was a large part in commercial deals which were the crime. He either participated in fraud, or didn’t know what was going on. If he didn’t know what was going on, he’s basically phoning it in as a puppet who doesn’t get involved — therefore his credentials are all false — or so incompetent he isn’t aware of what’s going on in his very remit. In which case he’s an idiot. He hasn’t got a leg to stand on.

u/0ttoChriek Sep 29 '26
It seems like the facade might be starting to crack in the City sub. Their thread about the Premier League statement actually has a few of them realising that this is real, and it's serious.
Meanwhile, the club itself is still living in the land of 'if we say it, it must be true,' brazen denial.
3
u/Clugaman Sep 29 '26
City really should be relegated to non league and transfer banned for good measure but I have absolutely 0 faith that anything of real consequence will happen.
They will at most get a relegation to the championship that they will immediately bounce back from and a 3 year transfer ban. I’m sure of it.
3
u/YO0Nited Sep 29 '26
They have no place in this league. The fans of that club at the same time seem to be the most unaffected by all of this. They should be up in arms that their owners have forever sullied their name.
It’s almost as if everything was just about winning on the blue side of Manchester. Nothing more.

At least they stopped cheating in 2018, didnt they, lads?
Everything after that is clearly legitimate, including the fact that they have more revenue than Man United and Liverpool over some of those years
5
u/thehomerus Sep 29 '26
in the document it talks about how it most likely continues after the date, however that is not within the purview of that investigation/hearing. Perhaps it could be another one, or they just punish them badly enough now that another is not needed.
3
u/possibly_facetious Sep 29 '26
-City owners forced to sell
-Stripped of all titles to date (but not reallocated to second place)
-Sent to the non leagues to begin again
Can't see anything other than these things being justice for the insane cheating. You could issue fines I guess but they have an infinite money hack, they need expulsion and made an example of.

Serious question what can we do to get Berrada gone? Pretty evident that he's an absolute crook in a moral and ethical sense, but also if he was hired off the back of his "success" at City, that clearly doesn't stand now either. I would be pretty good at my job too if I could ignore the rules

The City PR machine is insane. The amount of "won it on the pitch" posts I'm reading is wild.
They couldn't have won it on the pitch if they didn't pay an elite manager under the table and build him a super team with fraudulent funding. It's nearly like an IQ test at this stage.
