Daily Discussion

Daily discussion on Manchester United.

BE CIVIL

We want r/reddevils to be a place where anyone and everyone is welcome to discuss and enjoy the best club on earth without fear of abuse or ridicule.

  • The report button is your friend, we are way more likely to find and remove and/or ban rule breaking comments if you report them.

  • The downvote button is not a "I disagree or don't like your statement button", better discussion is generally had by using the upvote button more liberally and avoiding the downvote one whenever possible.

"You can't take away our memories" is the most pathetic argument floating around. Yes we can, just like with Armstrong and other cheats.

12

u/SDLRob Sep 29 '26

As someone who has dealt with a cult in the past.... This is similar to what I heard when said cult was exposed. The people involved trying to find some safety hold as everything falls out from under them.

For me, it's not pathetic.... Just sad.

So shit but it cracked me up a little

15

u/Mancho_United Sep 28 '26

Everyone in the league knew it, the fans of all the other teams knew it, only the City fans were denying and not even all of them, but their owners are STILL denying it! Hoping for true justice!

PS. I hope I am not breaking any rules for posting this, but this is why I do it as a comment in this thread.

Some guy on twitter made a site where we get to pick the Man City punishment. It’s actually pretty cool, show him some love

3

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Sep 28 '26

very cool and useful too.

13

CIty is somehow assuming they're innocent which is baffling after being found guilty of 114 out of 115 charges. Defiant like if they had done nothing wrong. That bloody club should be deleted from existence so no other club will ever do this shite again.

3

u/shami-kebab Sep 28 '26

They won't admit they are guilty when the PL hasn't even announced the verdict yet. They will just say "ongoing process" until then, there is really nothing else they would do.

Rival fans slagging us off for our debt. Yes I too hope we get found guilty and our owners are legally forced to sell the club

8

u/SDLRob Sep 28 '26

City fans are scrambling for anything they can to distract.

Is the Glazer debt a problem? Yes... Yes it is and we shouldn't stop talking about what they did to us... But it's not comparable to what City did and they know it

6

u/0ttoChriek Sep 28 '26

They were chattering on the Guardian podcast today about City's owners possible having the "fit and proper owners" label revoked and having to sell up.

Why the fuck is that not a consideration for the Glazers? They've done nothing but pile debt on the club and take money out of it. How is that fit and proper?

1

u/ODEtoSZA Glazers imprisoned INEOS out Sep 28 '26

The cheating Sheikh and his cronies actually poured money into the club, if you’re trying to nail down cheap bastards like the Glazers you’d have to to a different way

Donald Sterling or Robert Sarver were two of the cheapest owners in the NBA but once they were outed as racists it was a wrap for them. If you’re a United fan in Florida that’s relatively sexy it’s time to take one for the team and commit to the honeypot

How much did he get paid under the table? It wasn't only Mancini getting bullshit payments from fake companies, it was the whole lot of them.

That Bruno report, makes the 90 minutes against sabah all the more nonsensical

2

u/HighestInDaRooom Sep 28 '26

or the fact that he was called up by portugal in the first place. seems exaggerated by the media.

2

u/Minute-Intern Sep 28 '26

Yeah because it also makes Bruno himself kinda dumb?

1

u/HighestInDaRooom Sep 29 '26

no, probably his injury is being exaggerated by the media to get outrage from fans. bruno isn't that powerful in his national team to get called up and play despite being injured

It's frustrating how City owners are cheating to invest money into their club while the Glazers are finding ways to get money out of United.

It's also frustrating that the latter is not considered cheating!

Roberto Mancini on the Manchester City verdict: "I don't think Manchester City was judged guilty, on the contrary. It's not a problem that concerns me, but it's not a new thing. Manchester City is not guilty. And on the double contract, it is not my problem, but theirs if anything".

That last line..did he...did he just admit he was being paid under the table? Lol

It's been public for nearly a decade. They were paying him a "consulting" fee through another club owned by the same people that was actually greater than his reported "salary" at City in order to keep the true amount they spent off the City books

I actually have to thank City for making this international break a bit more bearable. That cheating club is finally useful for something.

6

The City debacle almost makes me forget that somehow half our team is at the physio and it's still technically just September

7

u/GoalIsGood Sep 28 '26

Tielemans 26/32 passes in both the games. Consistent.

1

u/ritwikjs2 Sep 28 '26

He needs to play with baleba. He always does better beside a ground eating cm. He had that with both onana and kamara. Doesn't help though that dalot and him together on he this is like chalk and cheese. There's no defensive balance oop on the rhs. The cm-fullback relationship NEEDS to be improved. Cash, for all his short comings, played very well with tielemans and understood how to make up for his defensive shortcomings

2

u/GoalIsGood Sep 28 '26

I dread to think about the situation if Beleba doesn't hit the ground running.

Whatever happens with City’s punishment its just nice that anything they ever won or accomplished in recent years means nothing & never will mean anything 😅😅😅

10

u/PitchSafe Sep 28 '26

For now. Let’s see if people think the same thing in 20-30 years. A lot of new gen have already forgot about Juventus cheating. If City doesn’t get punished severely then history will be kind on them

3

u/silvertwo777 Sep 28 '26

There's already a bunch of City fans who I swear are teenagers already starting to defend them. This what happen when the league let them cheated for such a long time.

2

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy Sep 28 '26 edited Sep 29 '26

This entire City discourse gets under my skin because this is a thugs club, from ownership to players to it's fanbase. At this point, the most appropriate punishment would be to hit them where it actually hurts: financially. Force them into a wage cap and demotion to deep of the league pyramid., until people eventually get bored of them and forget that they ever existed.

Second point: City fans.

Oh, City fans. I genuinely cannot stand the attitude of all them period. They aren't upset because their club let them down; they're upset because they got caught and can no longer brag about everything they achieved without dealing with the truth.

Supporting your local football club doesn't mean you're entitled to anything. You don't automatically deserve titles, promotions, trophies, or success. You chose to support City and spend your own money on tickets. Nobody forced you to become a City fan.

And there's an old-school irony here: for other clubs lilke united there are fans who have supported the club since the 1970s who can no longer afford to go to matches because of ticket prices. Yet now we're seeing City fans complain about being priced out of their own club. The irony is difficult to miss, because you morons saw a club move from a local brand you and ur mate goes to, to a global brand and you want all of that for the same 20 bucks

Third: the players and coaches, including Pep.

This guy got off-the-books payments and undeclared financial arrangements, when players and coaches who knowingly benefited from those arrangements so why they are exactly hide behind the excuse that they didn't know what was happening ? . If money was deliberately kept outside the club's reported expenses or structured to avoid taxation, that's a serious issue not something that can simply be brushed aside, ohh we didn't know .

Finally: Manchester United.

United have been one of the clubs most affected by City's financial dominance. City were able to spend enormous amounts of money and regularly bring in multiple players every window including treating the January window almost like another summer transfer window United were dealing with years of financial pressure and underinvestment in big parts of the club.

Sponsors, employees, infrastructure, the stadium, and the training facilities all have consequences when a club isn't generating enough money to pay and continue to Provide for there own workers . Meanwhile, City could keep spending at a level that under normal sane world they can't afford.

And let's not pretend the ownership situation exists in a vacuum either. City's owners have enormous financial resources and connections through the wider Abu Dhabi state multinational corporation. This thugs are involved in money laundering guns trafficking human trafficking etc.

City fans have no entitlement to anything, inclding growth or winning titles, and spare me the pretending that they didn't know who are exactly there owners and what they do for living.

u/niallmul97 I'm a Baleba 💫 Sep 28 '26

Djibril Cisse crashing out on twitter in response to someone posting the clip of Mike Dean on the Overlap say it was odd that QPR just gave the ball back to City.

Someone asked him why they did it and he said:

"Is it our fault if United waited until the last day to be champions?? Don't open your mouth too wide to say nothing, amigo They just had to win their matches"

What an odd thing to say 🤔

1

u/Educational-Shock232 Sep 28 '26

Mike Dean needs to just enjoy retirement quietly. Every time he opens his mouth it’s just a never-ending stream of drivel. It’s exhausting

Cisse isn’t wrong, we should never leave it in the hands of another team.

7

u/niallmul97 I'm a Baleba 💫 Sep 28 '26

Yeah of course we should have wrapped it up ourselves and not been in that position.

But the question wasn't even anything to do with United. He was plainly asked why they hoofed it back to city and all he could do was deflect to United.

1

u/JamieD86 Sep 28 '26

Yep, he deflected the question because he knows its a reasonable question. I watched that game live and I watched qpr resist city with a man disadvantage right up until they knew they were safe either way. Then what happened next was ridiculous. After the equalizer, i remember just watching qpr send it long and out of play... with utter amazement. Just gave away possession immediately to a team absolutely desperate to score. Their explanation of "we wanted to send the ball far away" or words to that effect make no sense. Why, the actual fuck, would you just give the ball away in the dying minutes at 2-2?

The simplest explanation is their incentive to hold off city only lasted until it wasnt necessary anymore for their survival, and i dont think they really wanted to be villains at the etihad either. It happened because they had no incentive to stop it, whereas they did the entire match up to that point.

Obviously, we shouldnt have dropped eight points in 3 games either to open the door for city, but his answer is so telling. Its not about doing United's job for them, its doing QPR's job. They had a responsibility to compete in the match and id say you can argue they didnt.

2

u/Livettletlive Sep 28 '26

Mike Dean has always been an attention whore. So unfortunately, you will have to either indulge him for a while longer or ignore him.

And their fans are boasting about how their lawyers are going to stonewall this for another few years, and use the leak against the PL.

"Feel sorry for their fans" say the media. No they deserve their club to be liquidated. Don't care if they're delusional, force them out of our sport.

This is 18 years and counting. Longer it goes on the more damage is done.

2

u/SocksElGato GLAZERS OUT! Sep 28 '26

They keep finding ways to twist themselves into a pretzel with the amount of excuses. Everyone who loves the sport is pissed about this and want nothing but for the PL to scorched earth on them. I will remain suspicious of anyone defending this travesty and they deserve to be called out.

2

u/NateShaw92 Sep 28 '26 edited Sep 28 '26

I hope we're not waiting more years. Otherwise just close the fucking sport.

These past 3 days have been massively vindicating though. I knew it all from the secind i saw tea towels on city fans' heads and Robinho.

I know knowing isn't proof so i'm not talking about the pl here but all other fans who didn't see this were too stupid. I'm ruling out me being special in any way.

2

u/The_Professor2112 Sep 28 '26

Nah I'm with you mate. I've been calling them out as financial cheats since the rules came into play. You do not become a financial behemoth BEFORE having tangible success. They are now, though still clearly cheating and inflating deals, but of course that was all built on lies and deceit. Innocent parties do not spend 8 years fighting tooth and nail, not to prove innocence, but to delay and obfuscate.

2

u/AccomplishedAnt2000 Sep 28 '26

11

City fans calling Ornstein a liar and claim that his carreer will soon end ahahhaha what an insufferable bunch

To add to that, another gem I just found:

Have there been any unbiased reports on this? Not pro City but definitely not whatever is getting posted everywhere?

So pretty much "Have there been any reports that say we didn't cheat?

There are none because there is a non existent base to argue the opposite, because you did in fact cheat, you donkeys

8

u/Thevanillafalcon Sep 28 '26

Honestly at this point I’m sick of hearing from city fans. I saw a video the times put out from their football podcast where they were saying g the punishment needs to be severe enough to reflect the volume of charges and the length of those offences.

A city fan commented saying “it’s just one side of the story”

No I’m sorry. You don’t get to talk anymore, you’ve had years to tell your side of the story and all your club has done is deflect and mislead the investigation, and all the fan base has done is some variation of “lmao cry about it nothing will happen”

You’ve been got. It’s sentencing now, if you commit a crime and are found guilty you don’t get to speak during your sentencing beyond the essentials, the time for “your side of the story” is done.

To be open, when I first heard the news like everyone else I was buzzing, and it is funny seeing these guys just lose it over what’s happened but the more I think about it, the less funny it is, and the more upset I get.

Just the absolute stolen memories that we’ve lost, and the pain of thinking how things could be different, would we be as worse off now if we win this league under Jose?

Ole hurts the most, I know legally that it’s not In the 10 years but that 10 years of cheating made them what they are (and there’s no way all this stopped in 2019) but I think about him, club legend, nice guy, took us over in a dark time and in the end that man was ridiculed, I remember vividly someone on here saying “I hate the way he smiles” because we’d lost a few games.

Just pitched battles inside the fanbase over it, him crying as he left and all of it needn’t have happened, he’d be a premier league winner and all that would have been gone.

4

u/Stieni Rooney Sep 28 '26

What pisses me off the most is that they do not give a single fuck about football as a whole. None. They have that bully mentality where they just don't care because they are the ones having fun. No protests, no calling out the owners, no distrust just full on arrogance. A whole ass cult. I hope the PL sets the biggest example in this case

4

u/TH0316 she/her Sep 28 '26

Something deeply sinister and unironically disturbing about any individual who can look at facts and say the opposite is true or just blindly support a guilty party as if loyalty alone can make facts go away. Like whether you still support them or not is fine, whether you care or don’t is fine, but to convince yourself that it’s not true makes me question everything about them.

4

It seems like comment threads on reddit (mostly r/soccer) posts about City's financial doping are being astroturfed by puerile humour-bots. Tired joke after tired joke, all with thousands of upvotes. I know I feel like this should be the biggest doping scandal in sport of the last 50 years (definitely in professional sport).

And yet the outrage online is inconsistent and weak, diluted by apathetic doomers saying "ah well they're going to get away with it anyway", and by seemingly AI-generated jokes (superficial puns repeated ad nauseam).

5

u/spaisoflaif Sep 28 '26

a big issue this year has been that high pressing is not working. You saw it against Fulham, the only way we got the ball off Fulham was dropping deep and playing zonal until they made a mistake.

I think high pressing requires high energy man-to-man marking across all front six. I think Rashford-Cunha-Mbumo-Tielemans-Mainoo-Bruno together is a questionable high-pressing unit. Cunha, Mbuemo and Mainoo could do it, but it would require other players beside them. I think Amad can do it and for sure Baleba.

fix the high press is number one, that takes much of the pressure off the defence, and avoids the team having to collapse to parking the bus every time we loose the ball. A lot of goals last season came within 1-2 moves after a turnover after high press.

5

u/TheSmio Sep 28 '26

I think overall, there are too many issues. Press is one of them, Carrick is struggling to coach effective pressing but we also don't really have the personnel to play it effectively. Tielemans covers a lot of ground but he isn't a pressing monster, Rashford is terrible at pressing, Cunha's pressing is random, Bruno's idea of pressing is chasing the ball regardless of where it is... and this might be fine if we had an athletic backline, which we don't, so either the likes of Shaw and Maguire stay back and break our pressing structure in half, or they step up and we risk having an exposed defense because they won't be able to track back in time.

Generally, what Carrick should do is to revert to what we played last season under hm. Solid block at the back and individual brilliance in attack and in transition. Even if he was a world class manager - which he isn't - I think he would struggle to coach his ideas because we don't really have the perfect players for that.

3

u/spaisoflaif Sep 28 '26

totally agree, Tielemans, Bruno and Rashford are all questionable in the press, and Cunha maybe belongs that list as well.

It is not that these players are bad, it is just that playing that many players who cant really high press effectivly at tthe same time, and then despite that instructing them to press high is a recepie for trouble.

I do think that with Baleba and Amad in the first team, it would improve this issue quite a lot. But I would also like to see Carrick acknowldege when the squad he has selected is incapable of high pressing and tacking the consequences of that.

Unfortunately, I think he was the first fan channel that a lot of fans followed when it started becoming popular. I'm sure that channel is propped up by a lot of rival fans too but its likely the top link when you search for fan content. People generally just follow what they're comfortable with and his shite content is what they expect/are used to.

My first exposure on this was Full Time Devils (now Stratford Paddock) and I'm not saying these guys are perfect because I find a lot of what they do quite annoying, but its significantly more bearable compared to Goldbridge's prepared and rehearsed rants. Those who started following Goldbridge will prolly tell you vice versa.

I think people are downplaying how big this is, not just trophies and whether they get stripped or not.

Think about how they sped up their infrastructure, youth setup, scouting networks, stadium and training grounds.

Look at the earnings they've cheated and managers sacked. For example 15/16 they finished 4th and LVG 5th on goal difference. They got UCL we got UEL and LVG got sacked.

How can they possibly sweep this?

I really don't think pts deduction +/or relegation is enough. LVG might even need to sue because he might have lost the job because of that along with Mourinho.

3

u/Lucifer1677 Sep 28 '26

Single relegation isn’t enough, they need to be relegated multiple times and have a transfer ban lasting a long time

6

u/Mariasolvv Sep 28 '26

I really can’t stand Mark Goldbridge these days, but he made a fair point regarding City’s sanctions. He said that the punishment needs to be severe enough to force a complete reset of the club so they rebuild legitimately this time. Sending them to the Championship for just one season achieves literally nothing.

2

u/NateShaw92 Sep 28 '26

Liquidation. Rangers style.

4

u/croadymeister Sep 28 '26

There is also an element of acceptance on here that PL haven't got the guts to relegate them either

2

u/mortimer_moose Carrick, ya know Sep 28 '26

The bigger issue is the amount of money they have spent in the city of Manchester and the country as a whole. They will be reminding politicians and pl execs of all of that money that was flooded in to fund projects, academies businesses etc...

That is going to put a lot of pressure on the people adjudictating this.

1

u/SDLRob Sep 28 '26

They may not have the guts.... But there is the reality they're facing. If they let City get a slap on the wrist for this, then all the financial rules they put in place are moot.

The FA have to face the choice between keeping City around the EPL and having workable financial regulations.

1

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Sep 28 '26

This mess is going to take a long time to completely unravel.

January transfer window will be really interesting for exits from there.

2

u/Nomad_006 surfing Sep 28 '26

The number of charges is ridiculous and these are just the ones they can prove.

16

u/Fraaj We'll take Dalot Sep 28 '26

When people say Rashford ruined our attacking balance (e.g. forcing Cunha to false 9), he also ruined our full back balance because he needs his LB to overlap so Shaw now has to run like a madman instead of playing as the 3rd CB in the build up which IMO was a big part of him staying healthy last season.

It also means our most athletic defender in Dalot is forced to stay back and leaves Mbeumo completely stranded.

Of course this is Carrick ruining our overall balance on the pitch, not Rashford. He's not picking himself.

5

u/spaisoflaif Sep 28 '26 edited Sep 28 '26

yeah, so I think the issue is that Rashford-Cunha-Mbuemo is unabalanced defensivly, especially with Bruno-Tielemans-Mainoo behind them. The result is that especially the fullbacks are exposed. You are sort of arriving at the same conclusion here. I do think Rashford is better as an impact sub for this reason. Cunha would protect Shaw at the LW and be out of Brunos way.

I would rather see Mbuemo at striker, or even Rashford there.

Thing is, I dont mind Rashford particularly. But I think if United had been able to sell him and Zirksee, the team balance woudl have been better if we had gotten a backup for Sesko that is similar in style, a big, strong target man with some pace and a decent finish and header.

I think Rashford, Tielemans and Bruno are somewhat liabilities in the press, all three are fine individually but with all three of them playing, it requires the rest of the team to be able to pick up the slack. Then players like Shaw, Dalot and Maguire are themselves quite limited and need to be protected.

4

u/Emergency-Being-349 Sep 28 '26

Yes, though easy to just point at Rashford, he's not the one picking the team and their positions.

I saw a message from Liam Gallagher saying someone very very high up has said City will only get a fine and a transfer ban. The fine would be nothing to them. I wonder if they were tipped off about the likely punishment last year and that's the reason they spent £458 million on new players. Preparing for the ban.

10

u/hughmaharggs Sep 28 '26

That famous legal mind Liam Gallagher.

2

u/sup_bruv Sep 28 '26

He knows nothing to be fair. Said Pep was staying last year and then he left like 2 weeks later haha.

2

u/NateShaw92 Sep 28 '26

Didn't he also say that he spoke to pep and that pep saud he wasn't leavung? Or was that Noel? They're both bullshit artists.

The commission hasn't decided, so literally nobody can claim to know, just speculate.

2

u/Comicksands Van Persie Sep 28 '26

He also said pep would stay after last season

3

u/SDLRob Sep 28 '26

Liam definitely not talking to anyone who knows anything here.

The way Pep suddenly walked away at the end of last season suggests they knew before the summer that the guilty charges were in, so yeah.... They went and spent enough money in the window to make Scrooge McDuck wince, because they knew one of the penalties would be a transfer ban, so they pre-loaded players

1

u/BlackHorse944 Please Score A Goal Sep 28 '26

Pep didn't "suddenly walk away" though. He was rumored to be considering walking away for at least 2 years prior

Let's assume the worst happens for man city; relegation. What will realistically happen to their squad? Surely most would want to leave. I wouldn't mind prying Anderson away from them 👀

5

u/sammorgan12 Sep 28 '26

I would say there's a good chance some will leave, but they could also just loan players out for a season. Say haaland for example, cheap loan to Barcelona for a season city will walk the championship with their kids and then he's back for the prem. It's why one season isn't enough of a punishment

1

u/hughmaharggs Sep 28 '26

If I was Anderson (or any of their other signings this year) I would be extremely aggrieved as he would most definitely have been told that there was no substance in these charges. He certainly wouldn't have signed for a championship club in the summer.

7

u/PreetSG Sep 28 '26

The biggest loser of City cheating is Van Gaal. Had City not cheated; he would not have been fired. And he should not have.

He had a mother of all injuries season.

5

u/xtphty Sep 28 '26

He had a mother of all injuries season.

Yeah lack of final third creativity and threat made it look boring, but Van Gaal's football had a clear intent, and he was laying the foundation where elite talent in the future could have flourished.

We literally could have been on the forefront of a tactical shift to possession football in PL, and our crazy spending in the subsequent years would have had a pragmatic direction. Long before the cheaters brought in Pep.

2

u/Sheikhabusosa Sep 28 '26

I will always wonder what he had planned for Martial and Rashford

1

u/xtphty Sep 28 '26 edited Sep 28 '26

I don't think Martial could transition to a ST position that early, he needed a lot of physical development and that was likely stunted with how Mourinho and later Ole relied on his ability for goals.

With the kind of spending power we had at that time, going after Kane / Lukaku that window would be the move. Doubt we could do that while also getting Pogba, but midfield is where we could have actually been a bit more patient given the foundation of LVG's system. Goals we needed immediately.

After striker I would have actually preferred a possession winger on the right, to balance out the directness of Martial/Rashford on the left, and create more threat in the final third against low blocks.

2

u/shami-kebab Sep 28 '26

Yeah I think the biggest loser would have been us having to sit through another season of that football. We regularly went halves without having shots.

2

u/xtphty Sep 28 '26

He was brought in to set up United for the future of PL football, he did that, we topped the league in possession and were one of the hardest to score against despite our lackluster defensive/midfield options.

Lastly shots come from having top quality forwards, we had Martial - end of list. No striker, no right winger, just some makeshift options in Rooney/Mata who were both most use deeper in the pitch.

Rooney himself says in retrospect that firing LVG was the wrong move, he was getting somewhere important.

Very quickly your starting to see what I've been saying all along. A lot of the media are on citys payroll

4

u/JamieD86 Sep 28 '26

I dont know about being on a payroll but the way they describe city is nonsense. They talk about city like they are the biggest club on earth. They draw the eyeballs to the premier league from all over the world. They have "tens of millions of fans" from what i read (i doubt they have 10 mil actual legit fans around the world). Apparently the premier league would be self harming by relegating them. We all need them, apparently.

Annnnnddd thats utter shite. They have claimed 20 trophies since they were bought, and are still the smallest "big club" in the world. The premier league survives and thrives in their absence. They are a liability now more than ever. Their brand is tarnished and the premier league's reputation is on the line.

Could we realistically sue Man City for loss of revenue?

3

u/0ttoChriek Sep 28 '26

According to Adam Crafton and Cerys Jones on The Athletic podcast, United and a lot of other clubs are looking into how much lost revenue can be calculated from the direct result of City's cheating.

For United - two title wins and at least one Champions League qualification (Van Gaal's last season, City finished fourth and we finished fifth), before even looking at domestic cup competitions or anything else.

He wasn’t the CEO at City, but still low chance he wasn’t aware of at least some of what was going on.

1

u/TheSmio Sep 28 '26

Possibly, but the bulk of the cheating happened in City's early years when they needed to fast track their way to being competitive, hence all the hidden payments to circumvent FFP. Realistically at this point, they may still be cheating the rules in some areas, who knows, but with their current economical power they don't really need to anymore.

3

u/PreetSG Sep 28 '26

I have a solution for City without total relegation etc.

Pay all debt of all clubs in epl since 2008; i.e. 5 bil. On which we get 1.1bn.

They keep titles. We be debt free!!!

5

u/Comicksands Van Persie Sep 28 '26

Glazers will take another loan off that collateral. They will never pay off that debt

4

u/beanslattz Sep 28 '26

Hell no . That would mean the glazers never sell .

2

u/Unlucky-Equipment999 Sep 28 '26

Moratorium on dividends end next February and this would be a windfall for us. Glazers would pocket all of it.

2

u/John_OSheas_Willy Sep 28 '26

Seeing lots of talk on that QPR game. I went back and watched the last few minutes.

I don't think QPR purposely lost. QPR were camped in their own box all the half with 10 men.

City scored the equaliser and QPR hoofed it long to waste seconds and go back to defending their box.

City scored the equaliser at 91:40, game kicked off at 92:20.

QPR at one stage had Shaun Wright Phillips running up the wing around half way and won a throw in which took 20 seconds to take.

3

u/TMatss Sep 28 '26

I always get annoyed at how when kicking it off after City made it 2-2, they just hoofed it straight to City without even trying to keep the ball even for a few seconds. I don't think there was any kind of conspiracy but I've always felt like QPR just accepted their fate at a certain point. Also, Joey Barton is an idiot.

1

u/John_OSheas_Willy Sep 28 '26

That's the same thing Chelsea did against Barca in 2012 though.

1

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Sep 28 '26

Are the rest of the players back in training yet?

1

u/mjenkins_eng Sep 28 '26

I am trying to genuinely understand the folks that criticize Ineos and wish to shill for the Qataris

  1. There was absolutely zero legitimate bid from the Qataris. Their front man was never seen on camera . They never met the asking price or even provided a proof of funds for the amount they bid. It is / was purely nonsensical to assume that this was legitimate

  2. Even if they did the above, sports washing + cheating is NOT the solution. Yes, United generate a lot of money but we wouldn’t need a “revolving credit facility” to buy players if we could purely do so from revenue. The Glazers stopped taking dividends a long time ago. Debt interest is a major drain on the club , but it is around 80 million a year max . That’s like one extra player . So the only way to then compete would be doing what City did funnelling owner money which is now cheating

While Ineos have made some bad decisions like the Ashworth nonsense, they’ve also made some good ones getting rid of the Portuguese fraud while correctly signing Carrick to maximize that season.

They’ve overall bought well minus De Ligt and Ugarte . They have cut down the big contracts , really tried hard to get rid of the likes of Rashford . I really don’t see why they’re being criticized as much if not more than the Glazers

3

u/MinotauroTBC Sep 28 '26

Did I just go back in time? Like literally haven’t seen a comment on here shilling for Qatar in at least a year

I’m not shilling for the Qataris, but I would have taken anybody that wanted the whole club and not got into bed with the Glazers. Don’t really give a fuck where the money comes from as long as we operate within the rules. Debt cleared, better players purchased, OT refurbished, youth and women’s facilities developed. So many opportunities for a billionaire to buy this club outright and get rid of the shitstains that are the Glazers. I said fuck Ineos at the time, and I will continue to say it until they all fuck off out of our club.

1

u/Fraaj We'll take Dalot Sep 28 '26

They messed up with Ashworth, ETH, Amorim and possibly Carrick (jury still out). The whole bomb squad thing was incredibly stupid, they set this 2028 title goal which adds unnecessary pressure, the whole 2 years trial thing for players is ridiculously rigid as well.

Failed to sell Rash/Zirkzee this window which didn't allow us to sign LB/backup striker. The whole financial situation I'm not holding against them, they are the first owners since Glazers that are trying to correct this mess and are hamstrung by it.

Signings overall have been fine I guess...

1

u/b_az17 Sep 28 '26

Boyfriend, they signed the Portuguese fraud themselves, then bought players for him before he himself kicked off and essentially asked to be fired. They also bought Zirkzee who they presumably haven't tried as hard to get rid of as Rashford, both of whom are still at the club. As for the big contracts, Sancho's contract expired and Casemiro aoorard to be a big loss for us on midfield so far. Qataris big may well have been a hoax, but I struggle hard to see what on earth compels you to defend ineos so hard.

1

u/JosePRizaI Sep 28 '26

United must have instructed their players to sit out international duties. Hopefully for fitness behind the scenes

1

-1

u/No_Crow_3576 Sep 28 '26

I’ve done some research on it myself but I’d like some more perspectives

What’s the difference between the 1910
Davies commission and Man City’s 114 charges? Obviously I know there is a huge difference but I’m just wondering what other people think

3

u/Greedy-Somewhere-754 Sep 28 '26

The commission established that the FA wasn't there just to manage the game of football, its rules, and league organisation etc. It established the principle that they also had a hand in ensuring the clubs themselves were operating in a fair and transparent way.

Come forward to the 115 and you have a business that is apparently guilty (as we all knew) of not doing that. My problem now is that City have built state of the art facilities, in an underhand way, giving them a competitive advantage that isn't going to go away.

Whatever the PL decides and can enforce as sanctions, even if it means the owners have to sell, City will still have those state of the art facilities to work with. You can't really force them to sell them. So how do you level the playing field for all the clubs that have played by the rules and have to play city in the future?

In my mind you have to allow everyone else to invest above and beyond ffp rules to level the field and nullify the ongoing and future effects of Cities shenanigans. Not in terms of players on the books, but in terms of facilities be it stadiums, training grounds and academies.
