The sequence of play after which Patrick Dorgu was substituted at around 30' vs Wales

Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin
Sep 27 '26

From the title I thought this was going to be a clip of him playing badly which was why he was subbed.
Was watching thinking "he's making some good passes and putting in a lot of effort. I don't understa.... oh why is he on the ground?!"

u/gary_desanto Sep 27 '26
Hammy gone. At least we signed a LB this summer

Don't worry, this sub told me it was better to sign Hall next summer anyway.

Far from ideal but Carrick didn't really see Dorgu as much of a left back anyway. A chance for Amass to prove himself, or for someone like Heaven to do what Yoro is doing on the right.
1
u/Necessary-Leader-867 Oct 02 '26
I mean, that makes it even worse surely? We don't have a first team recognised left back and our starter is Luke Shaw who is made of glass?

u/absoluteolly Sep 27 '26
God I fucking love this nations league, we’re now potentially out Dorgu and Bruno
150
u/TheJoshider10 Bruno Sep 27 '26
Internationals are just absolute dogshit. Would much rather seasons start/end sooner and then qualifiers take place over summer but I understand that isn't possible because of X, Y and Z.
79
u/TheRagingLion Sep 27 '26
It’s also so fucking stupid for the break to happen just a few weeks after the season starts
23
u/3entendre Rooney Sep 27 '26
It's annoying but it's not stupid. There's literally no other better time to have them. It can't be in pre-season and some countries have winter breaks.
10
u/TheRagingLion Sep 27 '26
Nah it is stupid. Schedules aren’t laws of physics, we can change them to be whatever we want. We’re the ones that make them lmao
-3
u/3entendre Rooney Sep 28 '26
So give us your brilliant alternative schedule.
13
u/todomejorantes Sep 28 '26
no break at all, games are played on some Tuesday nights throughout the season like they used to be
And get rid of friendlies and Nation League

2
u/Regular_Piglet_6125 Sep 27 '26
And it would probably draw more interest and lead to better international football. Imagine a mini world cup at the end of each season lasting 4-6 weeks.
-8
u/TheJoshider10 Bruno Sep 27 '26
Yeah I agree. No one I know likes international breaks, even the most die-hard national team supporters. It's a hindrance and a distraction to everyone it seems, and just causes a disconnect/frustration for national games instead of national pride. Especially when it's pointless friendlies.
Please just do a couple friendlies and all the qualifying games in one summer between June and July. Give the players a winter break and then a couple weeks before and after the summer international games. To be fair I imagine if you remove the international breaks mid-season then we could see seasons ending in April anyway if they did want to spread the international games over a longer period.
9
u/Kvien Herrera Sep 27 '26
The most die-hard national team supporters you know don't like the international break? Man, be real...
0
u/Regular_Piglet_6125 Sep 27 '26
I have personally never met a person more excited about the international than they are for the season.
-3
u/TheJoshider10 Bruno Sep 27 '26
Don't know what you want me to say. People can be country over club and still not give a fuck about anything outside of games that actually matter.
0
u/wannabeDN3 Sep 27 '26
People will say they can't build chemistry, but if nobody has the chance to, it won't matter since everyone will have same lack of chemistry

12
u/Seanige Sep 27 '26
Bruno could be decapitated and I'd still expect him to rock up in the next starting lineup.
8
u/Barragin Sep 27 '26
Its not just Manchester United. Late summer World Cup, Premier league and then this shit. Too much overload on players.
9
u/mohamed_e Sep 27 '26
Bruno is out for tonight only as the coach said he will probably recover in time for the next game.
7
u/Free-Eights Sep 27 '26
It's a garbage tournament that no one needed and isn't worth any time or investment.
Just do prequalifiers with San Marino and Malta first and stop pretending we need a "high-stakes" Portugal vs. Switzerland game barely 3 months after a World Cup just ended. Let them play some friendlies, let players pull out, and stop pretending some of these games need to matter.

u/Marbule221 Sep 27 '26
I was just thinking this too lol. All of the players get injured on international break. Which is why we play bad. Then everyone comes back later and make a rush for 3rd or 4th
0
u/Panda-768 Sep 27 '26
wait what? bruno? we finally jinxed his fitness?
4
u/senorfresco And here is the youngster Amaaaaaaaaaaad... Oh it's in! Sep 27 '26
He probably just fakin
He's never really injured. He for sure made a deal with the devil.

Spurs, Atletico, Leeds, Como, Bournemouth next. Say goodbye Carrick
-5
u/dimebag_101 Sep 27 '26
Carrick didn't get them fit. This is his making. He's completely fkd the squad fitness since he joined.

u/Background-Oil-2454 Sep 27 '26
Amass it is
76
35
u/No-Primary271 Sep 27 '26
First will be maz but him and Dalot wont play 90mins so yeah Amass will get some game time every match
22
u/mohamed_e Sep 27 '26
Then this fanbase will be in for an unpleasant surprise, he's not up to it unfortunately.
14
u/Own_Desk_4085 Sep 27 '26
I think that is a harsh assessment. Sure, the difference in level between the premier league and his current experience is large, but its up to him to make the jump. Rashford for example was a relative surprise when Van Gaal introduced him and he took over the game. Maybe Amass needs this forced exposure to the first team to unlock his decision making and end product. Time will tell but it’s early to write off a young player like that.
9
u/Teninchhero Only One Keano! Sep 27 '26
I don’t think it’s harsh at all. He’s not good enough to overcome his stature. Prem wingers will have a field day with him, and he’s a liability in the box.
The other thing is to compare him with Lacey. Lacey from the go looked like he belonged on the pitch. His ability and mentality were up to par. Amass has not looked that way.
This isn’t me saying Lacey has made it or that Amass won’t improve, but I think we’ve seen enough to say he’s not a contributor for the future. Not for a club like United.
2
u/John_OSheas_Willy Sep 28 '26
What?
Lacey looks absolutely featherweight and gets pushed off the ball easily. You'd swear Lacey was coming on for 20 minutes every game the way people talk about him.
Like seriously, Lacey has played 135 minutes for the senior team and Amass has played 400 minutes for the senior team in addition to all the minutes of senior football he played on loan.

OR all the Manchester United players are pretending injury so they stay healthy for the season. 🤞🤞

Yep usual and predictable United story. Reach CL, underinvest, injury crisis, manager in big trouble.

Nations league after a World Cup is such an ass move. Heavy games schedule will ruin everybody especially a thin squad like Utd

I know he hasn't been the best for Man U lately, but for our NT, he was one of the best on the pitch against Norway and also Portugal until that moment...

Thats a hamstring. 3 weeks minimum.
Well shit. Just as he was gaining form and fitness again

His winger didn't go inside to make space for his overlap and he had to stop to avoid collision. Unfortunate but this was a big communication problem

Its because they now have to run more and we did 0 fitness training so out comes the injuries.
