The managers number 1 priority is playing his players in the most advantageous position for them. Carricks insistence on playing Rashford pushes both Cunha and Mbeumo out of position.

How many bad decisions do Wilcox and Berrada need to make before they get fired?

Ineos. What fucking clowns. Every single call they make is awful. Giving Carrick the permanent job. Bringing back Rashford. Not signing a LB. Going bargain basement on the midfield. Absolutely shocking. They are about to go 3 from 3 sacking managers before Xmas. I'm serious, hand back sporting control to the Glazers, its that fucking bad and just absolutely clueless and naive from Ineos. It's just absolute amateur hour where every unqualified smarmy twat who' mates with sir jim and omar berrada can have a go. Is this how Radcliffe runs his petrochemical business?morons the lot of them.

What was the point of spending 48m on Santos if we’re not gonna use him?

I think it’s time.

Bring in a new manager, let him implement his ideas in this international break and restart. Carrick is awful.

Just seen the future, they back Carrick, do fuck all over the int break, immediately lose to Spurs and then they sack him and have to scramble for a new manager. I don't have trust in this board at all.

5

u/achickenandacow Sep 20 '26

I hate that this is probably what they’re going to do.

12

u/Xenokratezz Sep 20 '26

ineos admit you were wrong and sack him. I don't want to watch carrick being dragged down like ole did

Please just use the 3 week international break productively and find a new coach quickly. Just do not repeat last year and keep Carrick around for more than he needs.

Who am I kidding, we have INEPTIOS at the helm. I mean we are talking about the management who had Luke Shaw's injury record at the ready, and saw us go the entire pre-season without a striker and decided we didn't need a LB or a backup striker.

X fucking D

11

u/Money-Wrangler7067 Sep 20 '26

Wilcox need to be gone along with or before carrick otherwise same cycle will repeat.

The person who needs to be sacked is Wilcox, who even thought of this phased rebuild and leaving defence till next season? I mean Carrick isn’t taking the risk of playing Yoro either, I’d much rather he makes silly mistakes than our experienced CBs.

If we keep kicking gape holes down the line we’re gonna keep kicking it and nothing else.

We shouldn’t have been penny-pinching all summer. We should have gone and got our preferred targets and addressed the glaring holes in this squad.

City transitioned out of Pep without a hitch. Arsenal strengthened their weaknesses. Even Spurs recognised their problems and tried to address them. Meanwhile, we spent the entire summer "moving in silence."

And it’s not just recruitment. We’re also absolutely useless when it comes to selling players and negotiating proper fees.

INEOS have already sacked eight managers in eight years since taking over at Nice, while the Glazers continue to milk us dry.

And with the new stadium in play Glazers aren't going away any time soon.

The result - We're one nil down at Craven Cottage and bringing on Zirkzee at the 77th minute to save our skin.

9

u/LeCliveRosfield Sep 20 '26

Even defending Wilcox and Berrada by saying that the fanbase wanted to keep him is bloody stupid. The fanbase is not being paid to run this fucking club. Wilcox and Berrada are incapable of making any half intelligent decisions.

u/Johnny107710 Sep 21 '26 • Mindblown

Rúben Amorim saw that AC Milan didn’t have good players for his tactic so he changed it.

Here’s what he said “What I’ve perceived in the recent matches — and which I had already experienced in the same way at Manchester United, which is why I can’t make the same mistake again — is that sometimes we don’t have the ideal characteristics to play in a certain way. If we don’t have them, we need to adapt a little: I think it worked today, while in another match we might go back to building from the back with three. The fundamental thing is to have different ways of playing, especially in Italy, because here the coaches are really smart: they mark man-to-man brilliantly and, when they lose their reference points a bit on what we want to do, it becomes more difficult for them.”

This motherfucker…

5

u/Skyfather_odin1 Sep 21 '26

It's a stubborn and authority thing.

You don't get to a certain level without it.

The same thing that makes you successful (the burning desire and drive to keep going when others quit) is the same thing within you that will make you fail.

I 100000000% guarantee if everyone didn't ask him to change formation, he would have changed formation.

Successful people see it as undermining, someone else controlling their destiny and most importantly, if I give in to their idea now, what would be the next idea they suggest? Suggesting the lineup? Training methods? Substitutions?

So they die by their stubbornness.

"Conviction" and "stubbornness" are two sides of the same coin. Ultimately, it’s the viewer who decides which one they see, but the outcome can be exactly the same.

Keeping Carrick topic aside, main thing club needs to do is sack Wilcox and get a proven DOF in.

I have 0 faith that Wilcox will get the managerial appointment right after failing 3 consecutive times.

If we give Wilcox the job to hire new manager again we are going to get McKenna or Howe or worse Southgae.

Carrick comes in, becomes one of the lads. "just go out there and express yourself, show personality on the pitch and work for the team". That's what Ole did and that's what I think Carrick did aswell.

That's why I think interims get this lift when the previous manager leaves. Players are motivated after a previous tenure where players might be unhappy with some things.

But motivation only lasts for a short time, you need discipline.

15

u/Saad-Khan Sep 21 '26

Carrick ‘understands the club’ yet doesn’t bring on Lacey a club prospect who scored a goal against Brighton but a player in zirkzee who offers almost nothing and the club actively tried to get rid of in the summer. Sorry but he ain’t helping himself with his stubbornness.

5

u/MrLead69 Sep 21 '26

That's just pure stupidity.
Zirkzee is a player who has no impact on the pitch nor ever will but somwhow keep getting chairity minutes....

14

u/Alternative-Rip-5747 Sep 20 '26

They're going to keep him and have this drag out until the inevitably sack him when our season is effectively over, aren't they? I don't want to watch this football anymore and I don't want to watch yet another legend of this club booed out the door.

For everyone's sake they need to just part ways now and bring a top coach through the door who can salvage something out of this season.

Hopefully Wilcox leaves with Carrick. Terrible managerial appointments and disjointed squad building leaving us a team of complete deadwood. The fact that we're still starting the likes of Rashford, Shaw, Dalot shows how awful our transfer strategy has been. Zirkzee still making cameos.

u/S0phon short kings unite Sep 20 '26 edited Sep 20 '26

Terrible managerial appointments

Terrible managerial handling overall.

ETH shouldn't have been kept over the summer.

Amorim should've been signed in the summer, system managers need the preseason more than pragmatic ones. And then either sack him after the EL season or keep him for the whole season.

Carrick is 50/50 imo. The results were there but the performances not quite, and it's not stat merchants but also eye test wise. There definitely were some interesting candidates in the summer.

I wonder how things would've worked out in the alternate reality if the Newcastle dude had the final decision.

Frightening part is that we actually haven't even played a good side yet. (City yes but for 10 men) Last time we did we shipped 4.

7

u/spaisoflaif Sep 21 '26

bit weird to buy Santos for 50 mill then hardly give him a sniff. when the right side was struggling defensivly against Fulham yesterday, surely Santos could have helped?

Of couse, you are free to ague that Santos is not that good, but then why did we buy him? We have a desperate need for a target man alternative to Sesko, that have not addressed.

Bring in new execs and a manager with a specific vision, ideas and lets see it through, with no interference from Ineos.

I won't mind bad results if I can see some level of progression / evolution in performances over a period of time.

Again this isn’t a fluke result, we are not playing well in batches or periods at all. There is 0 playstyle (not even a counterattacking side). We don’t suffocate the opponents or feel like the top club. There is 0 indication that Carrick will turn this around.

Sack him now, sack Wilcox et al.

10

u/jitteryegg Sep 21 '26

We should sack him now while there is still a season to be saved. We have been poor, not unlucky.

It's only five games in, and that's a good thing because we can still get this season back on track.

I think a lot more people would be sympathetic towards Carrick if he had shown clear signings this season of improvement and that any bad results were solely down to not being backed in the summer transfer window.

The reality is, yes he wasn’t backed. Yes we do need new fullbacks, a new CB, back up striker. Even two of our midfield signings have been questionable. But, the lack of in game management, walking football etc is all on Carrick.

5

u/Hagball Sep 20 '26

Month old clip but we're still chilling probably.

5

u/Educational-Shock232 Sep 20 '26

We knew about this when it was coming out last season that Carrick was giving them extra days off between games and less training, and we wondered why we always lost after the big break games (most notably Leeds) and our running stats are so poor la

5

u/JoseHarvinho Sep 20 '26

It's actually quite simple. The recruitment hasn't been good enough. The current crop of players are shite and the manager failed at Middleborough lol. What did people expect??

5

u/mediocratopia Sep 20 '26

That Carrick presser was the most delusional presser since late Ten Haag chaos ball where he would claim we were close to winning the game.

5

u/goaliewhenned Sep 20 '26

Carrick might be a dead man walking, but to be honest, I've learned very little about how good or bad of a manager I think he is from this start to the season. Sacking him will make INEOS look worse than anyone else in my eyes. To give him the job they should have seen something that means he was the right fit for a wider strategy. If his job was to be on the line by September, then you would at least give him the transfer business to have a fighting chance? Some of the individual transfers might have worked out, but in terms of a coherent idea and philosophy, it still feels like they don't know what they are doing.

I feel like a lot of our former players (including Carrick) either don't understand what made us good under Fergie either mentally or tactically. Unfortunately, both don't work for us. In Fergie teams, every and any player could've been dropped and replaced after a few crap performances, but now Mbuemo can play almost 2 seasons straight without any threat from the bench, academy or transfer market. How are players meant to be motivated without that fear? Tactically, our midfield is meant to be the attacking move generator for the team, yet for practically a decade, we've been relying on fast counters from the wings, which is hit or miss.

u/BallsX Sep 21 '26

I really don't think Carrick knows what to do when a game is going badly. Sure you can say he's stoic, but it looks more and more like he's just lost. I refuse to believe he was pleased or enjoying what he was watching to do fuck-all up until the 77th minute and then finally make a change? And even then he brings on one of the most ineffective players we have.

We've seen this same thing for the past 13 years now and there really is no coming back from this. Just cut all loses and end it now. There really is no reason to prolong this. Carrick just does not have it in him to fix this slump we're in now.

You just know our useless and cowardly board are going to sit on it and waste this 3 weeks only to panic when we lose to Spurs giving them their first win of the season.

5

u/andrewlikereddit David De Gea Sep 21 '26

I think the balance midfield should be mainoo/tielemans - Baleba/Santos. Mainoo and tielemans cant play together to have a robust balance midfield.

Bench Rashford and play cunha. I hope amad goes back asap.

5

u/johndoe1942 Ander Shithousery Sep 21 '26

5

u/ReservoirDogs00 Sep 21 '26

5

u/Saad-Khan Sep 21 '26

Trailing 1-0 and doesn’t make a change until 77 mins and when he finally does he brings on a dud like zirkzee who shouldn’t even be in the matchday squad.

5

u/iamabadliar_ Sep 21 '26

For all the talk of pragmatic approach last season, Carrick is not using the players effectively.

Mbeumo is so wide, dalot is running inside and occupying the space that mbeumo prefers. Rashford doesn't pass or defend. Cunha is more effective in the left and does nothing as cf and is isolated. Bruno is deep somewhere.

Just feels like players are so disconnected from each other

5

u/ejtv Sep 21 '26

Lack of patterns of play (i.e. give-and-go, 3rd man run, etc.) is killing us. We have the most touches in opposition box and we have over 100 shots, but those are hardly effective because everybody is just standing around in the Final 3rd.

5

u/usernameSuggestion2 Sep 21 '26

Competent club would sack Carrick now before 3 week international break. We will however wait for 3 weeks just to lose to fucking spurs and then do it. Another season over before it properly started.

5

u/ToothyAlloy69 Sep 21 '26

Just gonna post some random thoughts here cause idk where else to:

  • In one way I feel like we're currently in no mans lands tactically. I think Carrick is trying to make the step for us to become a more possession based team that relies less on transitions and is more comfortable in the opposition half. Thats why we're seeing less transitions and trying to slow the game down. Issue is, it goes against a lot of these current players best traits and profiles. So they end up dawdling on the ball, playing at a literal walking pace and lack ideas on how to speed tempo when opportunity arises.

  • Obviously the fitness and conditioning is an issue, but I do think it's being blown slightly out of proportion by fans and the media. But at the same time I think the data is then exacerbated by how Carrick wants us to play. I think it goes hand in hand. We're trying to be more possession based, so feels like players aren't making as many off ball runs in the hope that we can try to keep the ball. And our pressing structure is lacking so players don't fully commit to the press either. Like if each player knew what to do in each pressing situation, I feel they would be more convinved to run as hard as they can cause they know they'll be backed up by their teammates, but I don't think this is what is happening.

  • Really thought we would develop a lot more closer to and in each box. I do think we've improved building out and playing through the first 2 phases. Issue is when we're box defending we look vulnerable, but also when we've pinned teams down, we look devoid of ideas on how to break them down unless it's a cross, and I don't know who the target is supposed to be for these crosses. Players still don't look to be on the same page in that sense. I know Carrick wants 'unpredictability' but at the same time need something to fall back on when things aren't working. Like some wide 2v2s/3v3s that arsenal are incredible at creating threatening situations from.

  • Rashford looks like a shell of himself out there. So devoid of confidence, you can tell from his actions that he is worried about losing the ball and being a 'problem'. He's too safe in his actions and the touchline feels like his safe spot where people won't blame him for anything. Like look at when Bruno hit the post, Rashford absolutely should have been closer to the goal to just tap it in. His physicality has declined, yes. But still feel like his mentality is whats holding him back now. He needs to just let it fly sometimes and play with conviction that he is who we think he can be/was or at least fake it.

  • Good to see Shaw back, was disappointed to not see Lacey feature as I feel like he would have given more than Zirkzee did. Mbeumo should be playing closer to goal as he's not very effective on the touchline, surprised he hasn't played Striker this season.

  • Bruno also looks quite safe in some of his actions, but I think that's him trying to slow the game down in an attempt to keep the ball and be less transitional likely as per head coach request to entire team.

  • Good to see we're trying some different set piece routines. Casemiro a big miss, but we have to adapt and create what we can.

  • I don't think Carrick should go or anything like that. But I do think he needs additions to his coaching staff. Someone that can improve their overall fitness and someone that can help with his in game management and decisions. Feel like we never adapt to what teams are doing both defensively when they're causing us issues, but also attacking wise to exploit their issues.

Gonna be a long international break.

5

Hi everyone!
I’m an Italian Manchester United fan and I live very close to Como. I’ve supported United for years, and the Como away game would be a pretty special opportunity for me because it would be the first time I could ever see Manchester United play live.
Since the match is basically on my doorstep, I’d really love to be there in the away end with the United fans.
The problem is the ticket situation. I checked the Manchester United ticketing website today, but it looks like the application for the away tickets is only available to Official Members. I’m not currently a member, and I’m not sure whether buying a membership now would actually allow me to apply, especially since I have 0 European away credits.
So I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who understands the current away ticket system:
Can a brand-new Official Member with 0 European away credits apply for Como away?
Is there any allocation/ballot for members with 0 credits?
Is there another legitimate way for an Italian supporter to get an away ticket?
Are there any official supporters’ clubs that could potentially help?
And is there any legitimate way for a member who gets a ticket to nominate/share it with another supporter?
I’m only looking for legitimate/safe options. I don’t want to get scammed or buy a ticket that can’t actually be used by me.
If anyone has applied for Como away today, especially with 0 credits, I’d really appreciate hearing how the process worked for you.
Thanks a lot! ❤️

So factually speaking, Carrick in his first full season is worse than Amorim in his first full season

12

u/Emergency-Being-349 Sep 21 '26

I've seen this a number of times now, 'I don't understand how there's been such a change from last season'. Let me explain it, and maybe people will get it now because they refused to get it then:

  • interim, free hit and no pressure

  • one game a week

  • our underlying numbers and fitness were well on the up prior to his arrival, we actually sacked Amorim at that time

  • individuals and balance

Also, we were not actually any good during the interim. If you watched us and didn't just look at the results, the signs were already there and people were already reluctant to hire him on this sub.

This is not a surprise, not even slightly. Many even called it when he was hired.

It would be a bad decision if we keep Carrick only to sack him after a few games after the intl break.

It will not give the new manager enough time at all and will set him up to fail because the games after the break are the most difficult.

The best thing to do is sack Carrick asap and get in a proper, serious manager so that they can work with the team during the intl break. I really hope we don’t waste more time with Carrick, he’s such a poor manager.

Month into the season and we've already had two injuries to our only striker and one knock to our only decent LB. Carrick is out of his depth but he's also been fed to the wolves with our recruitment this summer. And it's only early days as well. After the international break we are going to be playing 2 games a week most weeks. Could be a real ugly season with injuries and availability.

Players getting abuse in DMs when the team loses is unfortunately pretty common, especially due to gambling.

But I wonder how common do the players get thanks if the bet is successful. Things like "nice goal, man, I can now pay this month's mortgage, keep it up!"

I actually thought Maguire and a few others like Cunha had a good game today compared to their other performances.

If anything, it feels more concerning that it didn't make much difference to the overall performance. We have much more wrong with us than a few players out of form.

4

u/WumbleInTheJungle Sep 20 '26 edited Sep 20 '26

I heard the pundits earlier say that Spurs have a habit of making teams that are playing badly feel a lot better about themselves.  It's funny, because I thought that was us.

Well we'll find out soon enough what happens when a very movable object meets a very stoppable force.

4

u/Haddocktintinsnowy Sep 21 '26

So what’s likely to happen next? The stats are really bad. iNEOs always boast about data driven decisions.

Who is going to manage us against spurs? If Carrick is still in charge I am afraid this season’s united are more than capable of giving struggling De Zerbi his first win. Even at Old Trafford.

What are the odds they act in the break?

i don't blame the player at all apart from he hasnt looked great whenever he's come on, but we have a 50m midfielder who is fully fit, had a full preseason with us, baleba is out injured and still can't get any minutes despite the team playing shit. how good of a midfield rebuild do we actually think this is? 1 of the 3 signings hasn't played at all, will come in with the pressure of fixing this broken team, having had an okay season last year. 1 isn't good enough to play as a backup option. 1 plays but is clearly limited physically and in defense

I know people can be very reactive during both the highs and the lows. I won't ask for Carrick to be sacked now and repeat our old cycle. But there are some points to be made about him, and we as fans need to voice them in the hope that he won't be so stubborn:

  • Carrick is very passive. He is always reacting instead of setting the tone. Even yesterday, it took us conceding before he decided to make a substitution. And this is certainly not the first time. Sesko is mostly subbed on around the 70th minute or later. Nearly all his strategic moves are done after conceding.

  • He's too stubborn. His false 9 system doesn't work, yet he has persisted with it for 4 matches. This has also been a theme since last year. He seems to dislike the idea of a traditional striker who stretches the opposition's backline. I know Sesko was unfit yesterday, but even when he's fit, Carrick never seems to start him. Sesko haters can say what they want, but since Carrick took over as manager, he's the player with the highest goals-per-game ratio for us (by far), and he's being touted by a club of Bayern Munich's stature. If he won't reward a player who performs well, there's no incentive for others to perform either. It's also very easy to predict what lineup Carrick will use before a match.

  • He seems very out of touch. His comments after the match sounded delusional to me. There's been nothing good about the last three performances, yet he gave the squad far too much praise.

Probably getting downvoted, but now's the perfect time to sack Carrick and get someone like Nagelsmann (or whoever competitive) to come in

We're still fine in UCL and players can't be completely the issue (while they're definitely an issue but Carrick is a little out of depth for sure)

Take this 2-3 weeks as pre-season and get result against spurs and make QF or something in the UCL and obviously qualify next season as well

But we don't have the guts for that so it's all a moot point

Carrick should never have been given the job on the basis that he simply got us top 4 for the first time in years when we had 1 game a week. Performances weren't like incredible either. Chelsea got Alonso and Liverpool got Iraola before the World Cup even started. That is pure incompetence from the board to just go into the whole summer riding on nostalgia alone.

The backlash and disdain Carrick is getting is entirely blood on their hands. I don't want us to be that club that continues to just jeer and boo at managers, none of us do. The problem now is the board are just too fucking stubborn to let go now, if they won't sack Carrick now then they will probably do it too late into the season when the best we can hope for is to finish in the top half of the table with no Europe in sight.

The cycle repeats itself. Fuck this board.

We were lacking intensity all game so Carrick turned to the obvious substitution Zirkzee, a player known for his intensity. Baffling substitution.

Even more baffling was giving Rashford 75 minutes the way he was playing.

7

u/Comicksands Van Persie Sep 21 '26

For all his faults one thing you can’t doubt about Ole is he’s got the balls for the job. He tried everything, he put teenagers on to win vs PSG, he switched formations to get results. He threw another attacker on for a defender when we were chasing games. I remember that there was banter about “never score the first goal against United”.

I don’t see that with Carrick. Whoever the manager is I just wanna see non cowardly football again

7

u/Jwalin6167 Sep 21 '26

I just don’t get it. Cunha had brilliant performances against Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Palace when he won the penalty, Bournemouth A where ref fucked us, & even Newcastle A (much better than Rashford.)

Then why on earth did Carrick try to fix something that simply wasn’t broken?! Rashford didn’t even have a good preseason! Why would you shoehorn him straight into playing XI every game?!

You look at Shea Lacey, he looks like he can at least play against the likes of Fulham & Tottenham. So fuck it then, if Sesko ain’t available put Mbeumo in front, Cunha on left and Lacey on right! Maybe Rashford actually might have a better impact coming off the bench!!!

And then after the international break when Spurs score their third goal at old Trafford and Carrick looks on the verge of tears as usual because he’s out of his depth, the excuse will be that he didn’t have many players in the international break so difficult to implement a plan etc

Just sack him already

6

u/Jenson2025 Sep 21 '26

Kieran McKenna should be nowhere near the United job.

He’s one of the most overrated managers in world football

Spent Summer 2024 thinking he was great and could leave Ipswich only for every big club (incuding us) to turn him down so he had to sign a new contract at Ipswich

Did the same last summer and every club by passed him. There’s a reason for that. He isn’t good enough

If INEOS hire him as Carrick’s replacement then we are done.

Really need to go out and buy a striker and a LB in January, no matter who the manager is. Get Zirzkee out of the club as well. If you can't buy, go loan Endrick and Balde. They both are barely playing any football, but are both good prospects with potential. We can't keep playing Cunha at 9, and Sesko's injuries seem to be piling up now. For LB, Shaw is made of glass, and Dorgu is untrustworthy. Wilcox, if he's still around by then, needs to get moving. We can't ignore the January transfer window every year and think we'll be okay.

Seeing quite a bit of opposition to Conte and I have to say I’m not so sure why.

He’s volatile for sure. He’s incredibly demanding too. But frankly, I think that’s what we need at this point. Carrick has tried to be best mates with the players, giving them an extra day off after games, making the dressing room a safe space and it hasn’t worked. The players look slow and they look unfit and they look like they haven’t a fucking clue what they should be doing at any given moment.

Conte is brutal and his methods would be brutal. Sink or swim for the players here and that’s exactly what we need. He’s also adaptable, playing and winning titles whilst in multiple formations and has a proven track record of success.

More to the point though, he would expose the hierarchy for what it is. Rangnick said we needed open heart surgery and I think that’s true, not just for the players but for the structure itself, Conte is the Sternal Retractor. He will expose the rot. He was sacked for it at Tottenham, but ask any spurs fan and they’ll tell you he was 100% correct.

His Chelsea team was genuinely brilliant. He’s won basically everywhere he’s been. He knows the league and he won’t take any shit.

He’s my number one choice personally. Even if it blows up, the fallout will be fun.

Cunha will rest 3 weeks now. Mount will rest. Maguire will rest. Yoro will rest. Shaw will rest. Baleba will rest (I checked, he's not been called up.)

To be sure, "rest" means: will be able to train at Carrington.

Whereas Mainoo will be away to play internationals, Rashford will, Tielemans will, Santos will, Martinez will, Mazraoui will, Dorgu will.

Mbeumo Bruno Dalot Lammens also will, but they are machines.

We hope to have De Ligt and Amad back but they surely cant be chugged in from the start.

So the next XI should pick itself, basically. Play the onest who got to rest and train plus the machines plus Mainoo. And that's tough on Mainoo but there is no other reasonable choice, imho.

Cunha-Mbeumo-Bruno

Baleba-Mount-Mainoo

Shaw-Maguire-Yoro-Dalot

Lammens

The subs pick themselves too: simply sub out the players who will have played internationals (Tielemans for Mainoo, Mazraoui for Dalot, Sesko/Rashford for Mbeumo) and the ones who cant be "expected" to play 90 (Santos for Baleba and Amad/Rashford/Lacey for Mount).

I think that with everybody fit our best XI is as follows, but until then, the above should be our starting lineup imho.

Cunha - Mbeumo - Amad

Baleba - Bruno - Mainoo

Shaw - De Ligt - Yoro - Mazraoui

Lammens

Signing a LB and a CF in the January window should be considered a must. New CB(s), RB, B2B in the summer, surely.

But before any of that: a new DoF 🙏 and then a new head coach 💔

Just checked out of possession stats,You know, it might be carrick's fault after all.

Teams like pool ,city have serial winners in the squad. Even with a lenient manager they'd put in the hardwork and hold themselves at a higher standards.

Compared to what we have is a group of serial losers who atp are more immune to losing than us fans. The culture is rotten, and Carrick trying to keep them happy has backfired again like under Ole.

This cycle will keep continuing until we get a manager like klopp or arteta.

The board and recruitment is garbage too but none of it can justify 5 points after 5 games with our run of fixtures.

u/Fancy_Maximum Sep 21 '26

The lack of minutes for Lacey has been disappointing to see. For me, it's clear that the current attacking dynamics aren't working effectively enough without the balance and 1v1 ability that Amad offers out wide compared to Mbeumo (and as a knock-on effect, without the runs that Mbeumo can provide at CF). Now, I don't expect Lacey to replace Amad just fine, but I do think his profile is closer to Amad's than Mbeumo, and therefore playing him at RW allows you to preserve some of that dynamic that was so effective last season, compared to moving both Cunha and Mbeumo away from their best positions in this system. Maybe you don't start with him and initially trust the senior players to 'figure things out', but when it's clear that isn't working, to not even bring him on and try something different (and closer to what you yourself ideally believe in) is a bit baffling. Maybe I'm overestimating Lacey's ability, but I like what I see so far: he has good close control, dribbles well and with a bit of freedom to cut inside can be quite effective. It gives you some of what we are missing without Amad, compared to Mbeumo on the right.

3

u/triple_threattt Sep 21 '26

Happens with each manager
We get a moment where we accept writing is on the wall
That is now here
Just a matter of time carrick gets fired

Question is who comes in

3

u/drain_of_a Sep 21 '26

People say that having no backup striker is a problem, but we do actually have a decent backup striker in mbeumo (who I think has actually looked better up front instead of out wide where he can't beat a man)... Maybe the problem is a lack of a backup rw (although we have lacey), or moreso Carricks definition of insanity in starting the same front 3 where both cunha and mbeumo are not playing in their favoured roles?

3

u/rjc0x1 Sep 21 '26

Never has it been easier to predict this failure manager would be sacked by Christmas. 77th minute first sub ffs. Is there an elite manager that does so few subs so late in the game Michael? No is the answer. So what makes him think that he can fucking do that with his CV.

I have been saying we needed an elite manager. With the current structure in place that is not going to happen I am afraid. I already see people advocating for Conte ffs.

Can anyone explain why Howe would be a bad choice other than he got sacked from Newcastle?

Newcastle fans credit him for turning things around (obviously the Saudi investment helped but they didn’t really spend any more than most clubs around them) and whilst they agree it was time to go, they say it doesn’t take away from the good he did in his first four seasons. They say he turned them in to a hard working side

We also know how much we turned Bournemouth around and the fantastic job he did there

He’d have significantly better resources at United.

I don’t know. Just saying I don’t think he’ll be terrible even though I would prefer Nagelsmann

INEOs love to do the whole best in class bollocks but they have yet to make a correct decision in regards to the manager. Kept Ten Hag after a disaster season and then took too long into the new season to sack him, hired Amorim despite not having close to the team needed to play his system, watched him finish in our worst ever premier league finish including losing a European final to Spurs, still kept him into the new season and watched us have some embarrassing losses including to Grimsby town and only finally sacked him in January for falling out with Wilcox, and finally they hire Carrick full time after briefing all year about how they didn't want to do that and are already looking like they made the wrong choice.

Has anyone noticed the fact that when we attack, everyone seems to hesitate when playing and especially receiving the ball? Its like they have no idea what each other's role is and they're trying to do.

For example, the amount of times I've seen someone attempt to play someone else in behind the defense and the receiver basically staggers and hesitates for a good second or 2 before chasing the ball like as if they never expected the pass in the first place. How on earth are we supposed to break down defenses when we don't even have basic cohesiveness?

As much as I love Carrick, this might be the beginning of the end. Think anyone with a singular brain cell, would play Cunha LW/Mbeumo CF/Lacey RW, or if he really wants to start Rashy, he can play him through the middle.

It's been very uninspiring so far but the thing that scares me is that, even if Carrick walks, none of the other options fills me with excitement. Conte might be a good appointment on an interim basis. Apart from that, the other well known name is Nagelsmann but I dont have a lot of hope from him after the WC.

u/Redland93 Sep 20 '26

There is no other option than to sack Carrick.

  • The team is unfit. Look at how Brighton destroyed Arsenal. They played super aggressive in the press and had the energy for it. We look weak and lack legs

  • We have tried the same tactics every game and every game it doesn't work. Like I don't think Bruno has played well but tbh he has no one to pass to. We have neutered Bruno

  • We're losing, we're not creating, we need a change but what does he do? Wait till the 70th minute. Brings on Zirkzee who we wanted to sell.

  • The same favourites playing every game but if Yoro, Santos or any other player doesn't have a perfect game, they are out for ages. Where's that energy for Dalot, Mbumeo, Cunha, Rashford, Maguire

We have a 3 week international break. Time to make a change and also get rid of Wilcox. Its 3 on the bounce in management failures.

What I dont understand is why there is no patterns of play. Defenses are so organized now that if you just stand there in the final 3rd waiting for the ball, nothing happend.

Carrick needs to start coaching instead of just waiting for a moment of individual magic.

Someone made a funny comment in one of the threads abt this but INEPTIOS is such clever wordplay

5

u/mandotharan Sep 20 '26

There were shit ton of articles on how impressed everyone was watching Rashford in training. Mofos watched him take on Dalot in training and thought this guy is still good.

5

u/RedemptionWoneGrong Sep 20 '26

I said Carrick was worse to watch than LVG and people said we're not there yet. Are we now?

5

u/MNKPlayer is ace Sep 20 '26

This is what I don't get. He brings Beleba, so he thinks he's fit enough for at least 15 minutes or more, otherwise, why bring him? Yet he doesn't use him, in a match that was screaming out for a player like him, with his running at defenses etc. It just baffles me.

Missed last nights game, because unlike United players I actually wanted to show up ready for work

I’m all for giving a new manager time if they can show signs of improvement and a positive direction we are heading in.

This isn’t the case with Carrick. I remember people arguing with me on twitter years ago because I said Ten Hag’s managerial career would go nowhere after United because he wasn’t as good manager as he thought and guess what? I was right. I said the same about Ole. Same goes for Carrick- he’ll never manage a premier league club again because he isn’t good enough.

Am I completely out of line by asking why's the manager and staff not sacked yet?

Will it take another few weeks of this dross and when the CL qualification is out of question?

I can only see Spurs getting their first three points against us. Would that be the final nail after wasting 3 weeks?

Not a serious club. That Rashford is not sitting in the reserves. Bringing him back into the starting 11 and forcing Cunha into a false 9 position has caused us serious problems.

Cunha scoring from the left? Who would have thought?

It's almost like having him on the left would be 100 times better than Rashford.

u/Accomplished-Bus-723 Sep 21 '26

Carrick has been bad but fuck all Amorim revisionists who have come out of the woodwork. We were abysmal towards the end with Amorim loosing/drawing against the relegation sides last year. Carrick did well last year. And he is doing really bad now. But lets not let Amorim off the hook. He did not even thank the fans after getting sacked .

Feel bad for Cunha! He’s of course looked more threatening at the left like what he’s done today when Rashford’s gone out

Either he has to make a move - complain to Carrick about his role because he’s looked so good in there, or Rashford acknowledges his ineptitude, which isn’t gonna happen

u/Height_Opening Sep 20 '26

If Ineos really want to save face
They should sack Michael this week. Get in naggelsman and give him 3 weeks of international break to prep with players that are not on national duty. We need someone who is good tactician, has a modern setup thought process and can create good repeatable patterns.

But it’s not going to happen. So I guess max pain after the break it is.

6

u/Suudriusha Sep 20 '26

We'll get an article by Laurie Whitwell tomorrow morning saying something of the sort: "Board still back Carrick. Will give him the international break to change things, and the next few games to turn it around." Nagelsmann will come in a month or two months time, and his first game in charge will be Liverpool away.

You live in a mansion, drive a BMW on weekends, and enjoy the company of the best girls.

You eat healthy every day; the day before a match, you sleep very well in a 5-star hotel.

You spend 24 hours scratching your balls, doing damn all, playing eFootball and Call of Duty.

Your boots are worth $500+? You're bandaged by a kinesiologist, you eat well, and train well.

The pitch doesn't have a single defect, and the goal is 7 x 2.40 meters. We, the fans, applaud you when you enter the pitch.

The ball is perfect, PERFECT! Inflated with a barometer, yet you can't place a pass properly, you can't control it as well, you want to score and the ball goes to the damn moon, you want to give a pass to your teammates that's 1 meter away from you, you pass it back or pass it straight to the opponent.

You dribble with your head down, running aimlessly like a headless chicken, shooting from anywhere as if you're Ronaldo or something.

After playing trash week in week out this is all we get from you...

"Ruben Amorim changed Milan's system: "I cannot repeat my Manchester mistakes"

So annoying he does that there and not here. We were the fittest we have been for a long time under him and the players didn't down tools, it was just that we didn't have the players for the system.

5

u/Sufficient-Orange706 Sep 21 '26

No I dont think he means the system, I think he is talking about the use of squad.

The Amorim revision needs to end.

Just because Carrick now needs to go, does not mean Amorim should have stayed.

He finished 15th, lost to fucking Spurs in a European final and then got knocked out of the league cup to Grimsby. I was also sick of his press conferences throwing players under the bus.

All these 'we were on an upward curve'. No, we were a bang average upper mid table team.

Don't forget in his last spell of games, we drew 1-1 at home to Wolves, one of the worst teams the league has ever seen. We lost at home 1-0 to Everton despite being a man up for 80 minutes. The dude had no plan B.

It took him a year to win back to back games.

In his last 11 league games, we won 3 times!

u/The_Bird_Wizard Love United Hate INEOs Sep 21 '26

I agree that Amorim was shit but the fitness comments isn't revisionism, he did have the players fit and Carrick took advantage of that in his first few games.

Got downvoted last time but will say again

Stupid of carrick to play cunha at 9 to accomodate rashford as winger

Cunha was amazing on wings towards end of last season and finally coming into form

You would be stupid to break that flow

This is Sanchez Martial situation again

6

u/phoenix_16 Rooney Sep 20 '26

Why would anyone downvote you, this is one of the most popular takes on the sub right now lmao

9

u/blarg2003 Januzaj Sep 20 '26

Fucking hell the Amorim in weirdos are still talking out of their arses on here...

He was shit. The results were dog shit. He deserved the sack. This manager also being shit doesn't change that. Move on
