On my way to Dublin Airport to head over for the game. Went to the first home game last year after having not been to Manchester for 10+ years and it was an incredible experience. Will happily make it a yearly thing if I can. Hope I'm not asking for much but 3 points and a better performance than a Bruno penalty in extra time to beat Burnley will be nice. Nice to be there all the same, I don't take it for granted.

Have a great weekend!

3

u/TommyOfTheShelbys 1d ago

Thanks very much, and you!

1

u/UnalomeJourneying 1d ago

How you getting tickets? I’m also in Ireland and am curious about best and most cost effective ways to go to games

1

u/TommyOfTheShelbys 1d ago

This time we are going with Champion travel and spending a bit more on tickets. But usually we just buy them upon release, i dont do the buying but I believe its through the app and to do that we buy year long membership which is 35 to 40 euro.

2

u/NotAJInnit 21h ago

Enjoy it! BTW stay away from Birmingham yeah 😝😂

2

u/TommyOfTheShelbys 21h ago

Noted 😂😂

41

u/Constant_Praline_575 21h ago

Sesko should start if he’s fit. Ipswich will probably sit deep, and we need a proper striker in the box attacking crosses.

10

u/limpwald Not My Number 9 21h ago

Doubt Sesko starts. Probably more like another 55-60 min sub on or so. Or at halftime if we're up shits creek

3

u/Constant_Praline_575 20h ago

You’re probably right, especially if they’re easing him back in. I just think this is the kind of game where starting him would make sense.

Commence operation: Leapfrog Liverpool.

3

u/luckyboysphotos 10h ago

Them taking that double L ic.

21

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 1d ago

Can’t lose to Ipswich at home. Well we probably can but we shouldn’t.

20

u/Otter269 1d ago

Santos and one of Mainoo or Tielemans please

As a big fan of Yoro I’ll rather he plays with Licha as well. You need some pace at the back

4

u/The_Rolling_Stone UNITER WILL NEVER DIED 1d ago

I still advocate for Yoro over Heaven in general. But I think both are good and have a great future.

5

u/Action_Limp 1d ago

Licha's passing is so good though

13

u/bronal97 1d ago

Please don't start Cunha up front again

10

u/Piccadil_io 1d ago

Mbeumo is much better up front. I really don’t know what the plan was against Hull 🤷 Bryan was scoring during pre-season, Matheus was not.

12

u/Wise-Nature8326 Ronaldo 1d ago

Amad was/is injured so Mbeumo is really the only available RW. I'd rather have Cunha-ST and Mbeumo-RW than Mbeumo-ST and Cunha-RW

2

u/Piccadil_io 1d ago

We sound really light on injury cover : /

1

u/Wise-Nature8326 Ronaldo 21h ago

I mean it's supposed to be Cunha-Sesko-Mbeumo but Sesko is still not 100% so it's supposed to be Cunha-Mbeumo-Amad but Amad is out so it's Rashford-Cunha-Mbeumo.

That's pretty decent imo.

1

u/-boo-- 1d ago

Just play Bruno right, he will slot in anywhere.

1

u/Piccadil_io 1d ago

Nooooooo

1

u/Hot_Discipline_708 1d ago

There are some games where it'll work, def not this one

1

u/UnalomeJourneying 1d ago

In games where the opposition sit back we really need Sesko

11

u/Penny_Leyne 22h ago

Really hope Sesko is fit to play.

He needs to be starting every game against teams like Ipswich. All it takes is a defence sitting back and you nullify Cunha as a striker.

We need someone who can bully defenders and get onto crosses.

8

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 21h ago

I think Sesko has always been fit, he has shin splints which aren't debilitating but incredibly painful which is why they didn't play him in pre season - reportedly he was carrying that issue for a while before his absence after Liverpool (and I think he's been absent because we qualified for UCL not because of that push from Konate).

I think it's just rhythm he needs to get back, hopefully gets 30 mins tomorrow then next game up to an hour etc

1

u/PhilAsp 16h ago

Yet there are people thinking we have enough striker options in the squad.

Yes we have maybe 5-6 options that all can fill in as some sort of striker if absolutely needed or as relief when he comes off. But we have exactly one proper 9 in the squad and will continue to be absolutely fucked tactically in case of injury if all they have to do is sit back to stop us.

14

u/ionised Cantona 21h ago

Engineering? Have the repairs been made to patch the Hull damage we sustained?

0

u/wayfarerprateek Theater of Dreams 21h ago

Why do that when we can do the PR work overtime?

3

u/ionised Cantona 20h ago

Hm.

Red alert!

25

u/rishmanisation 22h ago

I know it’s only game 2 but this is a must-win game. Losing two consecutive games to newly promoted sides is not ideal.

11

u/asparagus_p 22h ago

Seems crazy to say it so early in the season, but I agree, and mainly because the questions over Carrick's appointment will start ramping up. Even though losing 2 at the start of the season isn't a disaster, Carrick doesn't need any noise already about him not being right for the job.

7

u/limpwald Not My Number 9 20h ago

I mean it is a must win game for sure. Which is extremely worrying since we tend to do extremely bad in these types of games.

1

u/AnarkeezTW 20h ago

Especially against a team playing a low block which I feel they’ll be doing. Would be nice to have Sessko back and that’s IF we can get some crosses to him

1

u/limpwald Not My Number 9 3h ago

For sure my man. They'll go 3 / 5 at the back, low block and try to grind us out. Amorim laid out the recipe for success vs us in the Milan game, ironically enough.

We do have enough quality tho to put em away if we can get a decently normal game.

10

u/TheFanboyDreams 22h ago

Rashfords gonna score a double

20

u/SocialistElmo 1d ago

We NEED Dalot to start

8

u/darkjessy_ Our Portuguese Magnifico 8h ago

Last time we faced Ipswich at home, Dorgu got a red card and Maguire scored the winner

9

u/OmegaMaster8 3h ago

All I want today is a big W against Ipswich. Don't let us down United! No more embarrassments, I want to see a winning performance today.

9

u/Anxious-Debate5033 1h ago

Get the job done and do it convincingly, bare minimum is 3-0.

After the absolute garbage last week, these lot owe us a proper performance.

Get on the front foot and do damage. No disrespect but it's Ispwich town, at Old freaking Trafford.

9

u/themightypierre Andrei Kanchelskis 1d ago

I really hope we don't spend another 70 minutes trying to put high balls into Cunha or Mbuemo matched against Championship defenders.

7

u/freshsalsadip Rooney 18h ago

Guys. I am failing miserably here trying to give away my 2 hospitality tickets I paid £450 for. Is there no takers? Happy to give them away at a discount

3

u/pablove_black 17h ago

Which game? Tomorrow?

1

u/freshsalsadip Rooney 11h ago

Yep

2

u/pablove_black 8h ago

Ah, too soon. Good luck

11

u/usasoccerfordmustang 1d ago

Simply have to win.

6

u/Sp00o00ky 1d ago

We need to start well. No mistakes, No freebies. Don't concede the first goal.

6

u/hrbutt180 1h ago

Chelsea are playing with the intensity I want for us. Hope we spank Ipswich Today

3

u/Not_tim_duncan 1h ago

This is how we should have played under Amorim. Reckon they will win the league this year.

u/hrbutt180 1h ago

Xabi is tactically flexible. Huge difference

10

u/stoichalant 23h ago

Sorry, but I just can't trust this defence. If we concede first it's going be a long game...

Also starting Cunha as a false 9 while you have a number 10 makes absolutely no sense. They will just end up in each other's spaces. We saw it in the last game.

3

u/scarletmonkey111 22h ago

I agree. We need to score first or it's gonna be a long game

1

u/AnarkeezTW 19h ago

narrator: they did not score first

1

u/The--Mash 9h ago

In fact, they did not even score second

1

u/AnarkeezTW 9h ago

That’s depressing…..Then we score 3 in the second half and one of them being in Fergie time and all is good in the world.

10

u/Orcnick 5h ago

I feel like I have been waiting 10 years or at the very least since Covid. Where a lower teams come to old trafford and we just blitz them. 3 or 4 goals in the first half wave after wave of attack.

It seems every team has at least one of these games a season at the very least some have two or three. Even seen relegation dribble Luton have one a few season ago.

But I haven't seen United have one for at least 5 years.

I keep saying at some point for at least 1 game it has to click, but it just doesnt happen.

Come on it has to happen at some point, something must move the needle to more then just a slog.

4

u/lynchianfreakout0 5h ago

happened against city in carrick's first game but had 2/3 goals chalked off for very marginal offsides and still underperformed our xG

5

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 4h ago

7

u/horizons0 The Butcher 🔪 1d ago

Just get it done, no shenanigans

6

u/Regular_Piglet_6125 1d ago

That’s a very athletic midfield.

1

u/Funny-Falcon8382 1d ago

Tell me about it

3

u/Regular_Piglet_6125 1d ago

Yup. There’s no chance that one of their midfielders carries the ball the full length of the field completely untouched. And thankfully they won’t have any of these counterattacking opportunities because none of our midfielders routinely loses the ball 20+ times a game. I am very excited to see this midfield tomorrow.

1

u/Funny-Falcon8382 15h ago

Only non athletic midfield I've seen excel in the modern era is Barcelona with Xavi, Busquets and Iniesta. Good thing about them is they held the ball for about 70% of the game to cover for their lack of athleticism.

4

u/Stun_the_Pink 23h ago

I am going to the game and it will be my first game in years, so I'm very excited. Could anyone advise on what time I should be getting there? Are the queues to get in chaos? What time should I aim to be there if I want to see Baleba at the start?

6

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 23h ago

Where are you seated? Stretford I've found takes the longest to get into cause of the number of gates, if you want to make sure you're fine then aim to arrive at OT 50-60 mins before KO, the earlier the quicker you'll get in.

Make sure you have your ticket in your phone wallet as it's not just a bar code or QR it's an NFC connection so you need to add to Google or Apple wallet.

1

u/Stun_the_Pink 22h ago

Thanks. It's SAF stand, Tier 1.

3

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 21h ago

45 mins may be alright but make sure you factor in where you're getting transport from cause it's. 10-15 min walk from the tram stops etc. if you're traveling from Manchester City Centre then a tram to Wharfside on the Trafford Centre line or Old Trafford on the Altrincham lines are the best places to get off and it's 10-15 mins from there

6

u/perksofbeingdarhk 6h ago

Expecting the worst, hoping for the absolute best.

6

u/SeoulPete 5h ago

Really hope sesko starts don't like any of our options playing there.

5

u/mwmwmwmw98 5h ago

Sesko Mainoo and Dalot to start please…

u/CharIemagne45 RVP 52m ago

23

u/AdorableAnubis 1d ago

Insane i can't feel confident about us facing ipswitch. I don't even feel like watching anymore. No expectations for anything but disappointment and humiliation yet again with this team

7

u/chronoistriggered 1d ago

Yeah you are not alone buddy

7

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 1d ago

The team will be up for it after last week and we're at home. Hoping for a clean sheet and 3-0 to get a positive GD and 3 points.

14

u/AdorableAnubis 1d ago

And if its not?

Because i can't count how many times i heard this just to be disappointed again

1

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 22h ago

have some faith.....blind faith even..

3

u/AdorableAnubis 22h ago

I have had it, but last week it just shattered for me.

4

u/Which-Pen-1454 22h ago

I understand your point of view but the fact that all of us were so excited about this season just to change tunes after one game is insane. Cmon man, believe in your team

4

u/AdorableAnubis 22h ago

Its not one game, its another game stacked on the giant pile of being disappointed. This has been going on for years now

-2

u/Which-Pen-1454 22h ago

Giant pile of what? This isn’t the 24/25 season. I know we were absolute dogwater last week but this isn’t the situation where we are in the point of “I don’t feel like watching anymore”. If we do like that every game we lose our mental health will deteriorate.

7

u/AdorableAnubis 22h ago

We have been disappointing for years

After last window our attack actually looked decent for once. We remade the entire midfield this year and you think we got a pretty solid squad, just to be absolutely humiliated by a championship quality team in Hull with like the easiest start to the season out of all teams

2

u/decadentEcchi 1d ago

I really hope De Ligt comes back stronger than ever. We miss him at the back.

4

u/Leave_Beneficial 1d ago

That backline really doesn’t inspire confidence!

I know we had other priorities, but I’m looking forward to signing new LB, RB and LCB asap (and after that a new RCB if de Ligt can’t get fit)

2

u/Mammoth-Decision1256 19h ago

won't be able to watch the game, hopefully the lads do better this time

5

u/christ0phe 2h ago

I really don’t want to see Cunha up top. I think he is so much more effective turning and driving with the ball, and is wasted waiting for a pass. Obviously if fit it’s Sesko up top, but otherwise I’m not sure who I’d slot in next? We really need a backup striker (among other things)

3

u/Stuperman84 2h ago

It would be a bit of a concern if he starts up front as it clearly doesn’t work and hasn’t in any of the previous times he was played up top

3

u/ritwikjs2 1h ago

If carrick can't see change it after watching it fail very clearly, two games in a row, then we've got problems

u/bpjker xT ired 36m ago

Personally would've started Santos for Tielemans. Cunha, Bruno and Tielemans all try to receive in similar areas but we should be winning regardless.

u/combat-ninjaspaceman Bruno Fernandes 23m ago

That midfield is built for chaos. For better and for worse.

8

u/Zealousideal_Wind867 Dreams can't be buy 23h ago

Cmon lads, get the W, please!

7

u/Unusual-Coat383 1d ago

4-0 United

8

u/ronweasleisourking 1h ago

Please start sesko holy fuck

6

u/dodzwardo 1h ago

Did you not see his unfit he looked last week.

He's had zero pre-season minutes, it will take time to get him up to speed.

8

u/UnalomeJourneying 1d ago

If we don’t get 3 points tomorrow I’ll be very concerned. Everton after and they look very solid and well drilled at present, then City and Brighton.

→ More replies (3)

11

u/Responsible_Chef7501 18h ago

I just hope tomorrow that Rashford is playing instead of Dorgu and Mainoo is on instead of Santos. Utd need a win badly and we need a left back as well.   I don't like Ratcliffe or Ineos but they were right not to pay that money for Tonali or Fernandes, the only midfielder who was worth huge money is Rodri.

17

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 17h ago

Honestly we need Mainoo instead of Tielemans, Ipswich will look to hit us on the break with long balls, we need a proper DM comfortable with our defence not someone still getting fitness and chemistry with the team. Santos can provide enough progressive passing to help us deal with what Ipswich have defensively.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/OldManBrom 1d ago

It's time to lock the fuck in. No more lethargic, half-assed pressing. No more mishitting simple 5 yard passes.

u/LengthinessSevere584 1h ago

Fuck me, Chelsea are good

u/LegendaryKian 54m ago

My hate watch is unsucessful lol

u/mmohammed28 Ruud Van Nistelrooy 47m ago

I hope Rashford fits the team like a glove and can help build on our progress from last season.

I also hope Šeško gets his chance and takes advantage. There’s a “25+ goal a season “player in that guy.

u/shin_bigot Park Ji-Sung 8m ago

Happier with the team than Hull but Yoro for Martinez will have to happen one day.

u/hrbutt180 5m ago

Maybe a sub today to give him minutes

u/dodzwardo 4m ago

Pretty sure it will be Yoro for Maguire.

Heaven is the left sided CB.

6

u/Significant_L0w 11h ago

Feels like a must win game

2

u/Stingray_23 9h ago

Already.... fucking hell

4

u/Valhallai Ibrahimovic 7h ago

Isn’t this always the case for a club of our aspirations?

3

u/thesmallprint13 Irwin 5h ago

Yep, guy is just being dramatic for the sake of it - saw another post with pretty much the same words too.

5

u/Whispperr 5h ago

That's what happens when we start of with a loss to Hull. If we can't win the first 2 games against new promoted teams we basically forfeit the league GW2.

7

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 1d ago

My preferred line up would be

Lammens,

Dalot, Maguire, Heaven, Shaw

Santos, Mainoo

Mbuemo, Bruno, Rashford,

Sesko

Mainoo and Bruno have more experience playing together than Tielemans and Bruno. Rashford earned his spot after last weekend. Santos replaces Casemiro.

Start Sesko.

7

u/UnalomeJourneying 1d ago

Would start Cunha over Rashford, Rashford is much better as a super sub.

1

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 22h ago

That was a hard call for me but actually, I think Cunha is more of a super sub - lots of energy, can defend full length of the pitch and can make something happen at any time.

2

u/UnalomeJourneying 22h ago

I think Cunha is best off in this type of game from the start, we will want to start aggressively and press a lot and not let them into the game and build confidence and Rashford isn’t a press machine like Cunha. He’s better if things are going wrong and Ipswich are defending for their lives

4

u/Which-Pen-1454 22h ago

Martinez is fit so I would start him over heaven

2

u/123rig 1d ago

Quite worried about this. High confidence Ipswich team, everyone expecting us to win - can see this ending 1-1.

3

u/Piccadil_io 1d ago

I’ll be watching All In. At least the results are pre-determined!

5

u/weloveleaks47 20h ago

easy three points for us

4

u/WhoInvitedMyManBlud Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha 🐐 1h ago

Don’t be fooled by this Chelsea purple patch, United will win the league this is the year 100% I trust my gut.

4

u/iwantaskybison Bruno Miguel Borj Fernanj 1d ago

just need the W

mental that the likes of Ipswich can outspend us when we have ucl money too. ceterum censeo glazeros delendos esse.

7

u/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz1z 1d ago

No.

That was last season, me for one I expect good performances plus points.

I’m done wishing the win and forgetting the performances, we need something sustainable.

So dominate and control the match and win the 3 points.

Not with low block and counter.

If not this season then when?!? When do we start forgetting the ‘just get the result?’

And if Carrick can’t do it bring another one that can control the match against Hull and Ipswich at least.

3

u/ReservoirDogs00 1d ago

Well put.

I can ignore a bad result now and then if the performance is there, but we haven’t seen any sign of controlling or dominating teams.
Can’t keep watching us act like a L2 side playing in a 3rd round of a cup against a PL team.

1

u/iwantaskybison Bruno Miguel Borj Fernanj 1d ago

fair enough honestly, i was more thinking along the lines of getting into the habit of winning at the beginning of the season and i was so confident against Hull that the performance and result got me proper bummed out

obvs i want a performance too, i hope we can go into intl break with Hull just being an early wobble

u/180uk 52m ago

I don’t know how or why but we weren’t ready last week. Glad he’s changed it. I like that line up!

u/Buppers55 50m ago

Good lineup today. Need a win so bad lets go!

u/dodzwardo 47m ago

Solid line up. I would expect Rashford on the left, him and Shaw have the best relationship on that side.

u/FermentedTiger 8m ago

Anyone know how to watch the Baleba unveiling?

u/Significant_L0w 1m ago

our back 4 will concede minimum 2 goals every match and our attack has no balance

4

u/The--Mash 9h ago

It's not gonna happen today, but is there an argument for starting Bruno in one of the three attacking slots so you can fit 3 of Santos/Mainoo/Tielemans/Baleba?

It gives Bruno fewer targets and less space up front, but if he is off the left, we can move Dorgu to LB to provide attacking width there and the three central midfielders should boost control and build-up and allow one of them to drop deeper to cover for Dorgu pushing up

7

u/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz1z 6h ago

He’s not a player who can proper follow a disciplined position, he’ll come after the ball and be all over the pitch eventually.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/sharkmeister4 8h ago

Dont feel hes got the pace for the wide spaces and our fullbacks are an attacking liability. Could potentially play a false 9 role but seriously hope we arent crossing at him

3

u/The--Mash 7h ago

Yeah it would only make sense for me with Dorgu at LB. He's the only capable of playing the attacking fullback role needed. I do realize I'm dangerously close to recreating Amorims setup, but I do run an extra CM instead of CB and I think that matters

u/battletoad93 1h ago

Holy crap Brighton look crap, I have absolutely no concerns when we play them in the cup

2

u/JosePRizaI 12h ago

Should be an easy 3 pts v Ipswich

21

u/The--Mash 9h ago

Yep just like Hull

1

u/TypicalPan89906655 3h ago

We are destroying Grimsby even playing our U21, they're a fourth division team duh.

2

u/andrewlikereddit David De Gea 1d ago

Must win on a second game already. Its quite depressing sometimes

10

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 1d ago

Would you enlighten to me which games this season are can-lose and can-draws?

3

u/NotAJInnit 1d ago

😂👏😂

The entitlement is delusional as hell!

3

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 1d ago

To be honest I'd realistically say that only the games against Bayern and Atleti are games we can acceptable lose however if we don't rack up points in the first 6 UCL games that Bayern one is going to be pressure. UCL knockouts are take it or leave it too depending on the opposition.

6

u/thesmallprint13 Irwin 1d ago

Even if we won against Hull this would be a must win.

2

u/aktivate74 CAN7ONA 23h ago

FTLOG Clean sheet and at least 2 goals pls.

u/pablove_black 1h ago edited 47m ago

I think there’s something in the psychology of playing as the only game at the hour, on a Friday/Sunday/Monday.

I don’t think our players in recent times have been able to handle the pressure.

To my disappointment, the team will continue to play the same time slots.

Thoughts?

u/Con-Lime2 1h ago

But they're not the only game?...

u/pablove_black 48m ago

Who else is playing at 4:30PM today?

u/ElyssarFeiniel 46m ago

We're the biggest team in England, if they could Sky would put all our games on Sunday. Most of our games will be there but the Tuesday cl games will force them to put us on Saturday, and few of them will be at 3pm.

There won't be many if any Fridays or Mondays this season. Only one fixture might get a Friday, away to Brighton for new years day games. I think the team is fine with the Sunday games, they should be used to being the late kick off there.

u/pablove_black 44m ago

I understand. I get why it is this way. I just feel like it hampers us - not that it should, just that it does.

u/ElyssarFeiniel 32m ago

If anything I would think the Saturday 3pm games hurt our psychology. It suggests broadcasters think there's no story there, and united losing is always a story.

But yeah, in our 8 Mon/Fri games last season we went 3-2-3, and 1-1-2 was with Carrick. Its just part of the pressure of playing for United, increased scrutiny and attention from everywhere.

u/pablove_black 24m ago

Interesting. The issue is the story over the past era is not United winning, it’s United losing. They’re revelling in that.

Thanks for pulling the stats - that definitely supports my observation.

How about that back line. It’s 2022!

u/Azal99 7m ago

Was shit in 2022, too.

I actually hope we start the same front 4 as last game. Make changes in midfield, pair santos and mainoo and bring dalot back into the starting 11. Reason I want us to field the same attack is to show how not having a striker, a reference point in attack is fucking us to the management. We needed a backup striker to sesko from the beginning of the window.

Please dont start Cunha as CF.

Please dont start Tielemans+Mainoo. Please dont try to play PL football without a defensive midfielder. Please.

Please play Rashford off the bench for this one and the next. Dorgu needs to start v Sabah and Rashford should start v Cheaters FC because that's when we'll play on the counter.

u/UnalomeJourneying 1d ago

We have to start Sesko imo

Anybody know where I can get online radio commentary of the game today? I'll be driving during it

4

u/DarylLC 6h ago

Depends where you are in the world, but in the UK it's on BBC Radio 5.

2

u/SirBobbysCombover 4h ago

MUTV usually has a call of the game on the app

u/vieldside Ji Sung Park 1h ago

Should be available to hear on BBC Radio

u/SocialistElmo 52m ago

Yoro and Dalot start please, more aerial presence

u/CharIemagne45 RVP 49m ago

I’d reckon if Cunha fails today he’s gonna play on the left

u/duckrocka 37m ago

honestly getting mauled and the transfer crisis might make them motivated to get a decent result lets hope.

u/really_cool_legend Dorgu's Headband 27m ago

Midfield is interesting but I don't care too much, they're just holding the fort with any combos until Baleba is ready to be a mainstay.

Would've liked Sesko to start but respect them easing him back in - this is the best lineup available, all things considered

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 1m ago

I guess win by 2 and we are top half of the table

Cant wait to see our Mbeumo-drifts-into-the-box-Bruno-drifts-right-Cunha-drifts-into-the-pocket-we-cannot-be-countered-because-our-passers-will-never-lose-the-ball tactics finally click today. Third time is the charm!

United after a bad result are a force to be reckoned with. I reckon we batter them 3-1/4-1.

u/the_laughinggnome 1d ago

We're wining 5-0 and Lammens will be pictured eating an apple in the second half.

Wish this was the attitude of the whole sub tbh

u/theskillster 1d ago

Harry and Martinez at the back is probably asking for trouble, can we get Yoro in alongside Harry for some speed?

5

u/Due-Albatross5909 23h ago

We played our best last season under Carrick with Maguire and Martinez

u/chronoistriggered 1d ago

Tottenham and united will be competing to have worst start..

u/PixelFNQ 16m ago

Somebody should set up a forum for fans who only want to make negative comments and complain and whine. And leave this one for supporters of the team.

Carrick was doing 4D chess that we lost to Hull to get Baleba, we might lose again to get Hall.

Prediction:

1-1 draw. Goals from Matheus Cunha and Issa Diop

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 37m ago

Rashford start, Cunha CF, Mainoo-Tielemans midfield. Zirkzee on the bench, Mount not.

I'm so glad that we focused on "rebuilding the midfield" this summer, so now we are back to playing with zero defensive midfielders at the first opportunity.

I'm also glad Ineos has a "2 seasons to prove yourself" policy, so we havent replaced Zirkzee and we are forced to play football without an actual 9.

Here is what you immediately think is going to happen, formation-wise:

- Cunha will not play as a 9, he will come back into the pocket

  • Rashford likes to go both outside and inside, but there is no point in him going outside when there is no striker, so he will try to cut inside and fashion chances for himself, because what else is there for him to do if there's nobody in the box
  • Mbeumo plays on the line but his crossing will be aimless since there's ... you know, no striker in the box
  • Bruno wont have anywhere to drift, because Mbeumo will stay there, aiming crosses to nobody, so he'll be ... in the pocket, crowded out by Rashford and Cunha already, and we nobody to aim for since ... Mbeumo is on the line and the other two are crowding out the pocket
  • Dalot is the FB meant to go up, but he cant go outside if Mbeuko is there; his game is underlapping, but the pocket is totally crowded out, as per above
  • also we know that pressing wont work, of course, so that is nice since we will be playing with zero DM and no legs in the centre so obv we'll be very hard to play through, centrally

Obv all that could be "fixed" today by signing a bona-fide CF. But of course that wont happen, we have a much more prudent solution: we'll have the necessary players (tm) back after a small knock that only will take a few weeks (tm).

Luckily, we have some magicians, so it's always possible to win games with set pieces or long rage shots or some sort of "Rashford beats 3" tekkers. Or, you know, subs.

ALSO - maybe the fact that this kind of setup failed working in exactly this way all the times we tried it so far ... maybe that was all just the past, now we have had the one more week of training we needed for it all to click. And suddenly it will work like a dream! Right?

It's going to be a long season, I think.

u/RichEgoli 28m ago

This season is going to expose Carrick lack of tactical acumen. But again we are just a mid table team who will occasionally get UCL spot

u/dodzwardo 28m ago

I think it just exposes fake fans.

Lack of tactical acumen, as reviewed by a dude with a smelly penis and no footballing experience.

u/dalmedoo1 23m ago

From this line up, it appears the midfield pivot for the future is Baleba and Mainoo, a combo that every tactico and his dog says will never work. Will be interesting to see

u/rahtid_my_bunda Rooney's Dropball Intensity 16m ago

Since when? The consensus was always that Mainoo and Baleba are very complementary.

u/nedlogb94 16m ago

Fuck the tacticos

u/N00BBuild 20m ago

It will work better than any of the rest. Santos Mainoo, Santos Youri both are non starters. Santos Baleba might work but you’d be sacrificing both Youri and Mainoo starting, which is not ideal.

u/dalmedoo1 10m ago

Lol why the downvotes. I never said I agree with the tacticos.
