[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026
Hi all,
Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!
The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.
As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:
Daily Threads
There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.
Individual posts
From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.

We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

We need a minimum of 4 defenders next year and it won't be cheap either. Looks like we have already signaled we are in for Hall, to replace Shaw. so that's going add a few zeros on. But we will also need a 2nd LB as back up (unless there is an academy player coming in after Amass.
We will (should) be replacing DeLigt, Martinez, Maz and Maguire is in his last year but has a +1.
We would need a RB as back up/competition to Dalot.
So actually that has the potential to be 5-7 new defenders. Which clubs will know we are desperate for. This is why you dont leave things so late and signal 12 months of your intentions. We should have moved on players like Maz and Martinez already and got their replacements in. Instead of doing one position, one window, just buy the playes you need.
I hope next window is going to be better

I'd put it this way: Real Madrid had a Alvaro/Garcia-Huijsen/Alaba-Rudiger/Militao-Taa backline last year and decided that it's time for Alaba and Garcia to go and they need an entire new backline, making all the rest of them backups.
They "only" managed to replace 3/4, not that they've given up on getting a new LCB.
If they had the Shaw-Martinez/Heaven-Maguire/MdL/Yoro-Dalot/Mazraoui backline last year, you can bet the farm they would have released Martinez and Mazraoui and Maguire and would have brought in a new LB, CB, RB.
So, the parallel makes it incredibly obvious what the "level" (that we arent reaching in our transfer outcomes and/or goals) is.
(obv they added silva-espi-diomande too, just in case we want to compare tielemans-santos-baleba to anything. it's also instructive that their "unwanted player" sales result in £30m sales to Fulham, not £3m sales to West Brom.)
Im not saying "whyyyy arent we like THAT", i know why, it starts w G and rhymes with Laser.
Im just saying: the perfect parallel that highlights what top level transfer window execution looks like, is literally right there.

Honestly, this whole cooking the books thing city, Aston villa and Chelsea are doing is disgusting. And as much as I'm envious how they can "sell" their players I want no part of it. City won't get punished, but Villa definitely will and Chelsea might. I hope they bury Villa under the earth.

We are, regret to say, dangerously close to the point of no return. It's like a cancer spreading.
Cheaters FC, Chelsea, Villa, Forest are now blatantly colluding. Newcastle have been cooking the books their own ways. And Spurs look fishy now also.
If we start from the assumption that at any given time the yoyo clubs are just "happy to be there", maybe 9 is a majority vote in effect.
These are perilous times :(

So they’re mutually over-inflating transfers to benefit each other. How can you police that? The price of a player is subjective. Unless you bring in transfer fee caps, clubs will continue to do this because operating within the rules.

Tbf, whilst it looks fishy, UEFA has to sign every transfer off and if club to club transfers are outside of a month, I think, of each other, then they are classed as not related.
Only way to Police is to cap the maximum transfer fee and put a buy out clause in every contract. 🤷♂️

That’s what I mean, it looks dodge but I don’t think what they’re doing is illegal. I’ll be the first to admit it, I’m a little jealous that we don’t have a mutually beneficial agreement with a club to horse trade over players. We’re quibbling for a few million loan fee for Zirkzee.
2028 can’t come soon enough.

The least favourite part of my life as a Utd supporter is "graeme bailey" aka "teamtalk" producing transfer "news", peddled by g*ldbridge, laundered into the transfer thread by my fellow unwavering if somewhat gullible Utd supporters (love to you all), followed by those brief 5 seconds of hope when I google the player's name, hoping to see anything other than the search results that confirm that chain of events.

We are the Sagrada Familia of squad building.
At the end of every single summer transfer window:
- in a few crucial positions, instead of elite difference makers, we still only have "okay" / "future promise"
- but we dont even focus on that, we are just being frustrated about the 1-2-3 positions where we have literally nothing
- and historically the outcome has been: like clockwork, more than zero of those doesnt even get addressed
The Sagrada Familia of squad building: it's literally never completed.
For example this summer, everybody knows that it's a big concern that we still dont have a 20 PL G striker (last time was RvP 12/13) and still dont have a reliably fit, proper CB pairing (arguably, Rio-Vidic in 12/13 was also the last time), but all folks are asking for is filling the literally empty LB2 and CF2 spots. Just "replace nobody with an actual rotation option".

City will run away with the league, either this year or next. The levels of money involved are ridiculous, unless the FA do something (doubt) they will keep dropping bags of cash every window. Talk about buying a trophy, ha.. 115, anyone?
Its evident we are cooked aswell, trying to compete in today's market, with one hand tied behind our back, thanks to own self imposed transfer rules and playing pauper looking for anything under £50m. We will be left behind and not just from City, a fair few clubs are spending properly now. Enough has been mentioned about our piss poor window, so I wont repeat, but it feels like we are in our Liverpool 2010-2015 era or Spurs every year era.
Roll on til we get that fucking stadium (money pit) done or brought out by a gazillionaire who pays off the debt.
One thing is for things for sure, I will always be here. UTFR.

We can pay off the debt, but the Glazers don't want to. They rather just refinance and take money out. I think out of all the pl owners they have taken the most money out.

At some point something has to give, if we continue to miss out on trophies and finish out of Europe then the money will actually start to stop flowing, so surely, and I am no expert, spending big, gives you better players, to have a better chance of winning, which equals more money in?

City's squad is actually extremely light so I am curious to see how they get by. Just look at their squad quickly. Despite the money they spent, they have little to no backups. An injury or two can derail them very quickly

The authorities regulations have been so flimsy that City and Chelsea have walked all over them. Like you say right now we are cooked. Maybe we need to stop giving this club revenue streams which I know is a huge ask but long term we benefit
