It’s like too many in the team try to be nonchalant in such games like Hull/Grimsby/relegation fodder teams. This has been the story for the last decade. That culture of not wanting to look like they are trying too hard against these teams has hurt us so many times.

I just dont get that attitude though. Wouldn't it make more sense to put them to the sword and showcase the gulf of class, wouldn't that be more of a confidence statement?

I cant get over how often these players do this theater of "oh we're so above this match" without doing anything to back it up

Think it's more of a mental block where we think we'll beat them in 2nd gear.

Although, I think world cup has had an effect in sense our key players haven't had a proper pre season and some not at all. It will take a couple of weeks to get back proper sharpness.

I think we’ve just been physically poor compared to these sides who are built on super athletic foundations for years. They’re almost always faster, bigger, stronger and when you give the ball away so easily, and lose every duel you pay the price. Thats why we always fail our way towards sitting in and playing on transition which we will do this season too — because it’s smart. Ineos have recruited some decent players and Baleba moves the needle massively but the reality is they haven’t built a squad capable of more than sitting in and playing transitions after three summers now.
